  • This footswitch design was driven by the difficulty in getting the Marshall Pedal 91016 (6 button footswitch), which is largely on backorder. This custom built footswitch is functionally similar to the 91016, but uses the MIDI IN on the back of the amplifier. The design is simple and uses an Aduino Uno (or clone) to read switches, update LEDs and send the MIDI commands. In addition, the latest code version saves the state of the master select and effects loop for each of the four input channels. This will keep the footswitch synchronized with your amp, even after a power cycle.
This design sends the 4 CC commands for input selection and the 2 PC commands for Master Select and Fx Loop control as defined in the Marshall Owner's Manual.
You can also build a 4-way or 5-way version using the same design by removing the Fx Loop and/or Master Select if desired.
The Arduino board used here is available on Ebay for DIYers.
