Well, I should finish watching the full program, BUT your song "Good Morning Lord" is so amazing!. Filled with joy and wonder, and hope. When I first heard it several months ago, my knee jerk reaction was "yeah, so that's nice, but it's just a simple morning greeting, not too theologically deep!" But what I'm starting to realize is the attitude by which we welcome the day, and embrace our rest at night is so important in what happens in the middle. Did you ever hear the poem "the Dash" perhaps at a funeral? It draws reference to the person's time of birth and death and then goes off about the most important thing on the tombstone was the dash, because that is how the person filled the world up with their love.
Thanks, Marshall! Yes, it's a simple song, and perhaps loved by many because if it's simplicity in welcoming Jesus into our day/life. I have heard "the Dash", and it's so true... When we are gone, it will be the time that makes up that "dash" that will have mattered. May that "dash" in each of our lives represent moments of grace and glory as we live for Jesus. Blessings to you and yours....
So I finally got around to listening to the 2nd half of this. A nice concert. I really like the way you handled the Grace, Grace hymn. The new song is a diamond (a little in the rough). You really like it ! :) So do I. It is uplifting, and buoyant, with some well crafted chord progressions. Some of the transitions are not up to the level of "seamless" but it is coming. I'll have to listen to it a few more times, as your music has a way of "growing on people." I'm not all that excited about the title, but that is probably just my micro-beef with the modern connotation of the word "Worthy." It means something has worth in the same vein that lively means something has life. I have always perceived Jesus presence to be a notch or two above that. But it is a word that finds it's way into a lot of praise songs perhaps too much. It usually makes me think of the striking difference between the words : worth-less and price-less. The first implying no value and the second implying great value! (even though they are both ending in "-less.") So yeah, I hear it more as music that could best evolve into an ensemble piece, perhaps all acoustic would massage my ears and brain best, perhaps an upright bass and some congas or djembe - toss in a flute..I don't hear it as coming off well with a "hard rock" ensemble - just my preference. But I know that is who you work with. Just sayin. Yeshua HaMashiach is probably your most "mystical" tune and it really has the fragrance and flavor of solitude and darkness, and candlelight and incense. It's a passion song. At least that is the imagery I associate with it. You did a wonderful job singing it. You come off very "sparkly" as a performer which is great. If you ever turn that one into a video, though, I think it would best if you dimmed the lights. :) Praise the Lord.
Thanks so much for the wonderful and thoughtful feedback Marshall! Interesting about the word "worthy". I guess I see it a bit differently (but it's surely a semantics issue). I see the Lord as being the ultimate in "worth" and value (sort of like your "priceless" word). Indeed. Love all your comments! God bless you! BTW, I just FINALLY got the official replay completed yesterday, and the volumes have been equalized, etc. Of course, it's the same concert, just a little bit smoother listen. @@shiningriver3789 Yes that sounded a lot brighter. When I record stuff for public listening, I use a little Shure omni directional mic that has a cradle that can be placed on top of a tripod and mounts the iphone together with the mic. I think it was a $150-200 gizmo. It really makes for clear audio on the iphone videos as the mics embedded in the phone are not that great! Of course your stage presence and dynamic voice might not need something like that, but since you are typically playing alone and only guitar accomp, every little bit helps!
