If you dont have infinite flight and need to fight in an arena with platforms, my biggest tip would be to make a large hole down the center. Getting stuck on platforms is a big issue in this fight and being able to fall without interuption is extremely helpful.
While tedious there is a way to make a platform that you can fall through without getting stopped, that still works as a regular platform if you don't press the down button while falling through it. Simply place platforms and then hammer each one a single time to turn it into a stair.
I almost never comment on TH-cam, but I feel obligated to because this video literally got me through Empress. Fantastic guide. Just spend time learning her patterns if you really struggle
Ngl, the Broom is kind of nice. You can fit through any space your Terrarian would fit anyways and the movement is enough to beat any boss in vanilla Terraria.
Thank you for this concise description of an excellent method. Very frustrating. Very fun. Very cathartic once I got it after about 40-50 tries. I am not very skilled, but fueled by Modelo, I found my way. Good times!
I'm not a summoner yet I can say that no matter the class you play giving at least one minion is a huge help. Something small like mining the arena underground is 10 times easier when you have something keeping enemies at bay.
Kind of late here but what I found worked really well is using shrimpy truffle and razerblade typhoon, the real trick however is that if its not raining you can use the rod of discord to keep your health under half, which keeps the speed and damage boost, along with the rod being great for dodging. With this I beat her prep golem pretty easily, although it does take a couple minutes
Gotta remember when in a server with a bunch of friends, thought of getting the terraprisma all because of the memes, yeah empress had 2 million hp and 90%of the server couldnt keep alive for like 3 secs, so..
Bro you are incredible, after watching your video I tried to fight against the empress of light and I managed it the first time, I never managed that, I never had the prism earth, I thank you from the bottom of my heart, thank you
I never considered using the witches brown mount. I just used the soaring insignia with fishron wings and then used damage accessories for the rest of the slots (master mode). I highly recommend the RoD for the fight (even if it is hard to get), since you can use it with less caution now that health doesn't matter all that much in the fight.
For Ranged users, if you're going for this Post-Golem, use Betsy's Wings and Aerial Bane. Betsy's Wings allows you to hover like the Moon Lord "wings" and are fast enough to evade most of her attacks, if you killed her at night already, using the Eventide and combine Betsy's Wings with the Soaring Insignia the fight becomes even faster.
If you play on PC, you can make whipstacking _way_ easier by rebinding first 3 slots in your quickbar to mouse buttons. Then just hold down the left mouse button and additionally right or middle for a short while at a time. The way the game handles quickbar slots switching will do the rest for you.
Thank you I had little to no hope of ever beating her as I think of myself as a bad terraria player. But this strategy, even without buffs killed the empress. You have my thanks

Thanks for this tutorial it really helped me in my first classical summoner playthrough. I am a fairly new player and i am enjoying my summoner journey, thanks for everything!
Hey, just a little tip, in place of the Xeno staff you can very easily use Deadly Spheres, while normally pretty stupid, in a large open area such as daytime empress fight they have a really easy time tracking her and will even follow her offscreen for quite a distance giving a really good dps if you want to run for any reason, also personally I think they’re much better than Xeno or Raven staff in general, they help me beat her quite easily especially with Fishron mount
I have a similar but slightly different set up. It involves using the Red Riding Dress but with a Chlorophyte Helmet + Vortex Beater + chlorophyte bullets. Then combining it with 2 minion increasing accessories, the sniper scope and Destroyer emblem. This Armor swap alone give +50% summon damage, 2 instances of 20% ammo conservation (a total of 36% ammo saving in just armor), +10% ranged crit, and +41% ranged damage. With all your buffs you can have around 5 - 6 minions (depending on if you include the pygmy necklace) at around +75% summon damage + whatever general damage boost you have. This combo is most certainly worth over other ranger armors set bonuses considering how much damage your minions will do. The benefit here is no need for whips and you can attack from a much safer range. The Ammo conservation with this armor + potion buff + Ammo Crate + the Vortex Beater (pre moonlord) will be around an 86% chance to save ammo which is amazing for not wanting to farm chlorophyte. You might not be interested in this part for Daytime EoL, however, its worth noting this armor setup grants a whopping 53 DEFENSE. Which is noticably higher than Tiki or Spooky armor, and even higher than Shroomite armor by 2 points. Its the highest amount of armor compared to pure ranger or summoner armor at this given stage. Though there is a tanky summoner build with another mixed setup. Spooky Helmet + Valhala Knight Breast Plate + Tiki Pants gives only +2 minion slots with +51% Summon Damage BUT at 45 Defense with +4 HP/Second regen. You combine this with Berserker's Gloves for that juicy +8 defense and whip improvements for a solid amount of Defense at the cost of overall DPS. The regen alone is such a massive jump though that you can consider this tanky alternative if you are dying too fast on Moonlord.
Great vid! One tip for anyone else doing this, if you're willing to fight Duke Fishron first, you can use the cute fishron mount instead of the broom. Then just pre-damage yourself before the fight (since it one-shots anyway) to get the speed and power buffs from the mount. Makes the battle that much easier
Worked for me, i was playing in master mode post-Golem, it took me 76 tries until the Kaleidoscope had dropped at night (9 wins), but on daytime i won with only 4 tries. It might have taken a while to get good on the fight, but after that it was easy, the moveset is still the same anyway, so it's just pure skill, thanks for the video
Also tip for those who want to try: Go to your controls menu and change the hotbars 1 and 2 to correspond to your mouse buttons, for me i used left button for Kaleidoscope and right button for Dark Harvest, this makes whip stacking extremelly easy
If you are planning to fight eol before golem or martians, i recommend using the bladestaff. The wip tag damage and flask of ichor/golden shower really make up for its low damage. It can also keep up with the empress, something most pre golem minions cant do.
The funny thing is, you killed the empress right before what I consider to be the hardest to dodge attack pattern that she has. I'd be really interested to see if you could make a guide that kept empress alive for 10 more seconds in her second phase.
@@haseebahmed2544yeah, I get to the second phase, while doing a decent amount of damage, but then I die. I’m doing this in master post plantera, so it’s hard.

I recommend Spooky Armor because it gives you a lot more damage, making it so you kill her faster + Fitecracker + Tiger combo is the nbest option for the pre golem
I hope they buff all the equipment you get between defeating plantera and before the pillars. For the sake of progression, all the pillar weapons should be just barely strong enough to take out the moon lord, but generally weaker than everything else you can get post-Plantera. That way players are rewarded for actually going through these bosses/events. Kind of like in calamity how certain bosses drop weapons that are technically an upgrade, but usually weaker than whatever you can craft at that point in the game
Fr, summoner lacks so much that the powerspike is on the same tier as the terrablade. We need more post golem stuff other than xeno and stardust weapons
oh my f*cking god THAT IS SUCH A GOOD GUIDE THANKS TERRASTEEL. Also cause I did this post moonlord I used the zenith (I’m doing a melee/summoner playthrough)
Xeno Staff and whip stacking made Daytime EoL a joke. I remember shuddering at the thought of the inevitable, which is fighting her in my Master mode summoner run before Lunatic Cultist until I realized how much damage I was dealing when I first fought her.
The way I did it on a pure summoner in master mode is use the dragon staff, betsy wings + insignia with pre-moonlord armor (spooky). You can kite half of her kit just by flying max speed horizontally and the dragon will burst her down every time she is on screen. The only mechanics you have to deal with are her spears and dashes, which are easy to avoid with the speed from wings. The way this guy does it you basically have to deal with her entire kit, and I'm not sure the weapon he is using is a good idea either.
extremely helpful👍 thx. just finished it today. Around 40 seconds, the Sun Dance with all the projectile will be really hard to dodge, died there more than 10 times. I used the Morning Star at first, it won't be able to finish under 35 seconds, it has to be Kaleidoscope .
i was practicing in just a journey master mode world without the rod of discord and i swear to GOD the smaller phantasmal bolts are ten times more dangerous for you if you're a summoner can't be close and keep an eye on them, or you die because surprise, there's, like, seven times MORE projectiles that ALL deal 100+ damage to you! can't be far away, your dragon's gonna lose aggro (...on second thought i should totally make a vortex beater or grab a chain gun when i'm actually gonna do this run) can't be in the nice middle ground, because THE BEAM MANAGES TO SLIGHTLY GRAZE YOU FOR 150 DAMAGE ANYWAYYYYY FUCK! i'm going to farm for the rod of discord for the first time ever when 1.5.5 drops
i don't know about legendary mode, but on master i'd say moonlord is harder than daytime eol assuming you use the same gear for both fights if the gear is different, for example post-plantera for eol and post-cultist for moonlord, maybe about equal
In my first Master mode run I decided I'm gonna do daytime Empress because that won't go badly at all... I beat her second try and I had only beat nighttime Empress twice prior to that. I have yet to beat a second daytime Empress.
i have never played as a summoner in a playthrough but i always go for the terraprisma for the extreme reliability against common enemies while building/excavating, and this applies to most minions, not just the terraprisma.
Got it in about 20-25 attempts with this build, the prismatic bolt into sun dance combo when EoL is at around 15k health left is what got me the most but got lucky with dodging it on the winning attempt. I’ve never really play summoner (usually play mage or ranger) but using it for this fight was fun, might have to try a full summoner run at some point.
Decided to die from her during the ad before the video and got it but thanks. I had pretty much the same strat just kept losing right before her. Now I won first lol.

@@saul5188 technically, it's legendary, although you can go with any modifier that gives you the highest damage since you won't be benefiting much from knockback, size or critical chance increases
Ngl I used to think Daytime empress was way too hard and I would never be able to do it normally. I used to always cheese it with homing attacks and a long rail. In my last playthrough I decided to just try beating it and after practicing about 15 times on normal empress, it was actually not too difficult to avoid all the attacks. I managed to do it in about 6 tries. I recommend just having some asphalt on the ground and wearing some movement speed stuff so it's easier to dodge things, wear the flight accessory she gives you, then just figure it out from there. I recommend trying it, it's more doable than you think and it feels amazing when you're done. If I can do it, almost anyone can, I am infamously terrible at games.

Good times!
Still works great, took me about five tries. Thanks!
this is the first video of yours I have seen and it earned you a subscriber
I just defeated Daytime EOL and oh god this guide helped MASSIVELY, it makes it so easy (also it was my first time fighting it)
I'm not a summoner yet I can say that no matter the class you play giving at least one minion is a huge help. Something small like mining the arena underground is 10 times easier when you have something keeping enemies at bay.
Dude, that’s the most calm maneuvering I’ve ever seen. Nice
The way the game handles quickbar slots switching will do the rest for you.
girl the scroll wheel is right there
@@twustermydude you can't constistently change whips mid-swing with scroll wheel.
i really like this guide, no cheese strat, just helpful tips
I was coincidentally thinking of fighting Daytime Empress last night, so this’ll be really helpful for when I do
Thank you I had little to no hope of ever beating her as I think of myself as a bad terraria player. But this strategy, even without buffs killed the empress. You have my thanks
YOU ARE A GOD 1 video short and functional i see. Thanks man works well here. 3 try. (because i suck), i will follow you now.
*Brazilian follower acquired*
Thank you so much man this helped me so much
I was so focused on the projectiles that i didn't realized your empress of light looks entirely different.
Nice tips, I'll try as soon as I get back playing with my summoner
Gracias hermano, no lo podria haber hecho sin ti y sin el lag producido por el celidoscopio.
Vanilla terraria: "I'll just tank it."
Calamity and EoL: "Nuh uh"
Thanks for this tutorial!! i was having sooo much trouble with the atack where she sends out a ton of swords and apparently i was doing it very wrongly!
I suppose it isn’t so much a tip as a pointer towards a different strategy, great video nonetheless!
For pre golem you should use the desert tiger staff as your summon
You don't need defense if empress kills you in one hit anyway... You just need maximum damage
Also tip for those who want to try:
Go to your controls menu and change the hotbars 1 and 2 to correspond to your mouse buttons, for me i used left button for Kaleidoscope and right button for Dark Harvest, this makes whip stacking extremelly easy
thank you so much for this video! my suffering has finally come to an end
I like, never comment on TH-cam videos. But my god, thank you so much. This deserves way more likes, and helped me get the terraprisma.
I don't know if you will see this but this strategy worked really well for me. So thank you very much.😊
If you are planning to fight eol before golem or martians, i recommend using the bladestaff. The wip tag damage and flask of ichor/golden shower really make up for its low damage. It can also keep up with the empress, something most pre golem minions cant do.
Great video man! Gives me the confidence to take on daytime empress for the first time.
This video got me the prisma, thanks man
Super useful guide. I just beat her after like 20 - 25 attemps
The funny thing is, you killed the empress right before what I consider to be the hardest to dodge attack pattern that she has. I'd be really interested to see if you could make a guide that kept empress alive for 10 more seconds in her second phase.
Yeah that homing sword + everlasting rainbow + prismatic bolts + sun dance is very deadly
@@haseebahmed2544yeah, I get to the second phase, while doing a decent amount of damage, but then I die. I’m doing this in master post plantera, so it’s hard.
@@nickmavrik1506 if u r using witch's broom or Betsy wings dodge the circular swords and make sure when that attack ends u go straight left or right until her prismatic bolts stop then drop for a second and start going the other way
@@haseebahmed2544 Betsy is post golem, which I’m doing post plantera so I can’t get Betsy wings anyway. I’m using witches broom though, thanks for the tips.
This video made me go back to the game and do a full summoner playthrough on master mode.
First tried with this guide, giga thanks :D
By the way, the Deadly Sphere Staff dropped from Deadly Spheres in the solar eclipse post plantera can also work if you *really* want to get the terraprisma pre-golem.
I recommend Spooky Armor because it gives you a lot more damage, making it so you kill her faster
+ Fitecracker + Tiger combo is the nbest option for the pre golem
what about for accessories? i’m ind classic mode btw
tiki is just more consistent and enables safe whip stacking, which makes up for the lost damage (28%) that you lose from not going spooky armor
After moonlord? No thanks. Razor blades and betsi's staff go brrrr
Thank you dude, I was going through waffle time levels of pain before this
oh my f*cking god THAT IS SUCH A GOOD GUIDE THANKS TERRASTEEL. Also cause I did this post moonlord I used the zenith (I’m doing a melee/summoner playthrough)
This video is absolute gold!
Xeno Staff and whip stacking made Daytime EoL a joke. I remember shuddering at the thought of the inevitable, which is fighting her in my Master mode summoner run before Lunatic Cultist until I realized how much damage I was dealing when I first fought her.
Bro, I'm Brazilian and with your help I managed to defeat her, thank you very much.
This was super useful, managed to take her down on my second attempt using spooky armour.
Ty
You violated the lacewing with da whip fr💀🔥💀
extremely helpful👍 thx. just finished it today. Around 40 seconds, the Sun Dance with all the projectile will be really hard to dodge, died there more than 10 times. I used the Morning Star at first, it won't be able to finish under 35 seconds, it has to be Kaleidoscope .
I can't thank you enough for this guide
I would say that moon lord and wall of flesh are harder on legendary mode since eol is super predictable
i was practicing in just a journey master mode world without the rod of discord and i swear to GOD the smaller phantasmal bolts are ten times more dangerous for you if you're a summoner
can't be close and keep an eye on them, or you die because surprise, there's, like, seven times MORE projectiles that ALL deal 100+ damage to you!
can't be far away, your dragon's gonna lose aggro (...on second thought i should totally make a vortex beater or grab a chain gun when i'm actually gonna do this run)
can't be in the nice middle ground, because THE BEAM MANAGES TO SLIGHTLY GRAZE YOU FOR 150 DAMAGE ANYWAYYYYY
FUCK!
i'm going to farm for the rod of discord for the first time ever when 1.5.5 drops
i don't know about legendary mode, but on master i'd say moonlord is harder than daytime eol assuming you use the same gear for both fights
if the gear is different, for example post-plantera for eol and post-cultist for moonlord, maybe about equal
@@relturtle hi turt
In my first Master mode run I decided I'm gonna do daytime Empress because that won't go badly at all... I beat her second try and I had only beat nighttime Empress twice prior to that. I have yet to beat a second daytime Empress.
i have never played as a summoner in a playthrough but i always go for the terraprisma for the extreme reliability against common enemies while building/excavating, and this applies to most minions, not just the terraprisma.
I finnaly get my terraprisma after ton of prismatic lacewing (thanks for the guide, in terraw we trust 🙏)
1:40 I’m dead sure they died bang after that cut 😂
Got it in about 20-25 attempts with this build, the prismatic bolt into sun dance combo when EoL is at around 15k health left is what got me the most but got lucky with dodging it on the winning attempt. I’ve never really play summoner (usually play mage or ranger) but using it for this fight was fun, might have to try a full summoner run at some point.
Thank you for this guide! I managed to do this after only 12 tries, (even with C- skills)
i beat empress of light daytime on my first playthough pre golem, thanks for making this tips video
this is why i love this boss, its literally js following a pattern and holding left click
Decided to die from her during the ad before the video and got it but thanks. I had pretty much the same strat just kept losing right before her. Now I won first lol.
Good video, very helpful 1000/10
holy frick this was so much better than the way I did it. Does this work on master mode ftw seed?
Don't forget that summoning staffs are AI based so your best modifier is ruthless
And for the fight you need
Summoning potion
Swiftness potion
Wrath potion
Ichor flask
Rage potion too if you're morning star fan
Ale or sake
what modifier does whips?
@@saul5188 technically, it's legendary, although you can go with any modifier that gives you the highest damage since you won't be benefiting much from knockback, size or critical chance increases
Ayy, someone else singing the Witch's Broom's praises! I've pretty much stopped using mobility accessories after getting that thing.
Well imma start my 3rd mastermode summoner playthrough. This video brought the Terraria vibes back for me.
Bro thank you I didn't use everything you suggested and still demolished her thanks for the guide🙏🙏
Excellent dude! I got her first try after some nighttime practice! -Except for that time she teleported into my position at the start of the fight, but we don't talk about that-
Edit: And I just realized I still had the Greedy Ring on instead of Celestial Shell whoops...
I beat this fight yesterday with a pretty similar loadout, i just had soaring insignia instead of berserkers glove and betsy's wings instead of pigmy necklace
The damage is a bit lower but the horizontal speed from betsy's wings makes it so much easier to dodge everything
