I think Karate style kicks aren't used as much in mma as I think they should be. I've seen several fighters in mma who I thought could have benefited from Karate and Tae Kwon Do style kicks. These kicks can help fighters to maintain some distance while also scoring points against certain fighters.
If you're dealing with a fighter who's very effective in boxing range I'd recommend staying out of that range some by using Karate kicks. You can score points with effective kicks and maintain some distance with those kicks.

Master Nakayama truly was an excellent instructor . Over the years I purchased quite a few of his excellent books a wealth of knowledge.
    Wish I had met him.

My shodan certificate was countersigned by Nakayama in 1971. My favourite certificate, printed on rice paper.

The KATA have been passed down faithfully. What I see being performed (and taught) by karate instructors today is the same as how masters of a generation gone by performed it in the above video.

孔子Confucius these are shotokan kata which according to the man who bought it to japan in 1922 it had been changed and reorganized by funokoshi for Japanese school system with most of the complicated and dangerous techniques switched out with simple punches and blocks in their place. 😂

Mystical and effective, karate and traditional martial arts created by spiritual needs also, a peacefully calm mind untouched by anything, sober
with clarity and awareness in touch with deeper states of human existence, but also ready for defend the sacred and holly. As ancient Greeks said, healthy mind into a healthy body, in a wide range of the term healthy, not only the biological, but all the factors construct a human being. What is evil? A sickness of mind and hurt.
