Actually huskies have 2 coats of fur that allow them to stay warm in the cold and cool in the heat. They are actually better at dealing with heat than most dog breeds. My dog actually sunbathes during the summers in Houston!

@@hannahs5911 I never knew that! I just hate seeing people who leave their huskies (or any other breed tbh) outside in the summer for hours. I’m glad your dog doesn’t mind the heat ! I’m sure he liked the snow we got last winter though haha

you'd be surprised how that happens with your northern neighbours too. There are places where you get around like that too. Canada is not far from minnesota. There is even places like nunavut where medical care is done on round trips. Canada isn't exactly warm and much of canada is wintery most of the year. I have been to minnesota and your weather is close to northern ontario but further north then that. A lot of people live on acreages and big plots of land. You'll find similar things in northern parts of alaska too.

I love Svalbard and Longyearbyen! Been there several times (work related) and last time I had some time to go look and the town has had grown so much last few years since last time I was there, and seems to still grow and develop into the future. Norway is a beautiful country. I enjoyed my visit there back in the early 90s. I was with US Marines/NATO doing cold weather training above the Arctic Circle, near a town called Setermoen. I was impressed with how clean and orderly your country was. I also made some good friends during my stay there. I wish you all the best from Colorado, USA.

If you appreciated the nature around Setermoen, I would recommend you not to go to Svalbard at any time. You WILL long back there for the rest of your time. I do!

I am of Norwegian heritage living in Australia and though I have visited Norway I did not get far enough north to experience the temperatures and beauty of Svalbard ......and now wish I had ☺ ...... I am slowly working my way through all previous videos and am captivated by it all .....I particularly love Grim and he makes me smile every time I see him ..... e.g. rolling in the snow in this video ..... please keep uploading as this makes my day ......

It's so interesting to me how, a few times across your channel, you've said something about it being "super warm today" and there will still be snow on the ground. In another video I just watched, you said that about it being 6 degrees C (42.8 degrees F). Our bodies can adapt to such wide ranges of what is acceptable and manageable temperature. If it was that cold out, I would be bundled up. But maybe it's because my concept of cold means bundling up, when you are already bundled up all of the time to where it becomes normal. If the temp goes below freezing, I genuinely suffer in my joints and mentality both. No matter how much I try to become strong and overcome it. Perhaps it's because our infrastructure isn't built for freezing weather either, and it makes it feel like a near apocalyptic event. I would be so interested in visiting an extremely cold place like yours one day.
Where have you travelled to before? I am curious how someone such as yourself and other people living in Svalbard would fare in weather that my area has. Today will be 39.4 degrees C (103 degrees F). I have become so accustomed to the heat that I can stay out for 5-10 minutes before I even begin breaking a sweat (it depends on if I am moving or sitting still). It used to be unbearable to me for a long time. I genuinely don't feel comfortable with the temperature until it's 15.5 degrees C (60 degrees F) outside, but between 21-27 degrees C where I would thrive and feel genuinely ideal and comfortable and secure and like "the weather is perfect". Houses are generally kept at 21 to 23 degrees C, somehow it feels hotter in a 27 *C house than 27 *C outside.
What temperature do you try to maintain your home at?
Do you have saunas there, and are they popular?

Here in British Columbia we have many roads in the Interior that run through mountain passes. In order to reduce avalanche risks the government fires charges into the snow banks and have small non-destructive avalanches instead of letting them build into something too large. Does Longyearbyen do any avalanche mitigation work.

We even went to Germany to perform at a Picasso festival (yeah I know a strange mix). I love my heritage but did not realise it spread so far as Longyearbyen as far as dancing is concerned
Btw - this all happened 40 years ago...😀
