The fact that in the same country, there are nurses, ta's, carers (the list goes on) that barely get a 15 minute break for their lunch. The idea of a free tea or coffee would be a treat for them, let alone completely free gormet meals, play rooms, sleeping pods etc. The disparity in working conditions makes me feel really angry, to be honest. Especially when you compare the upbringing of a lot of these people in these opposite environments.

And to go further, there's people who are homeless who probably don't eat for days and people in poorer countries who can barely afford to eat a basic meal let alone be able to fill their bellies with all this lavish food. I can imagine the frustration and sadness a person from one of these conditions would feel if they saw this. It's unfair really.

I have worked in spaces that give you free food and other types of in office "perks" before and have friends who have also worked in these spaces......and i'll just say this comes at a price .....toxic work culture, expectations that work comes above all else and almost cult like environments ......all i can say is be careful of these kind of set ups, they usuallly come at a price...I rather eat a packed lunch and spend my time with happy well balanced people, get paid fairly than be caught up in those spaces ever again.

To counter your point, there are industries known for being much more demanding, with toxic environments and grueling hours, often without the perks or benefits. For instance, investment banking or consulting at firms like McKinsey, Bain, and BCG are prime examples.
As a person who's also lactose intolerant, my stomach hurts for Jay. Top tip for lactose intolerant fellows: you can get lactate enzymes from pharmacies/chemists. They can help you digest milk better. I got some from Boots when I was in London.
I think it’s lovely that Google gives their employees such good benefits, but I hate to think about the amount of food waste that must go on simply because it’s free & people have eyes bigger than their bellies

Each floor had a kitchen stocked with snacks, quick meals and every drink you'd want; napping/quiet rooms; fresh hot meals trolleyed throughout the day; on-call kitchen who would prepare and deliver anything you requested; several gyms with massage service; on-site free day care 24hrs; and they would pay for luxury hotel nearby if you wanted to sleep off-site! Basically anything they could do to keep you working 24/7!

The fish that was labeled as Trout but looked more like Salmon was probably Steelhead Trout. It’s a less costly fish that is very similar to Salmon in flesh color and consistency.
The "sauce" looked like some sort of fruit coulis (similar to the stuff in the fruit section of a muller fruit corner). Trout and salmon are actually very similar in flavour, texture, etc. Sometimes I've bought smoked trout because it's cheaper than smoked salmon and honestly couldn't tell the difference.
The food looks like the food at the casino I go to when I'm on vacation in Niagara Falls. They make you book in a time so that's the only real limit. You do need to pay for it but some people just use their rewards to pay for it. The Google offices are full of everything so you literally never have to leave. A couple of my friends worked at the California one; now they have one in Waterloo (went to university there for Sociology/Global Studies)
I occasionally go here for work and the environment is awesome and so are the colleagues, they also do events to raise the morale and you have to give props to the chefs! They are Portuguese/Spanish I believe.

Haha I was curious so I googled: "While visitors can visit the grounds, they are not permitted inside the buildings unless they are escorted by a Google employee. The company doesn't run tours." Unfortunately, the buildings are not open to the public. Visiting the complex, one will find it to be more of a campus than an office building.

They just laid off 28 THOUSAND EMPLOYEES in January so seeing this explains why 😮
