My lord, I am a historian and an explorer of culture, and i come to tell you that many across Europe call our people "the rus" or the ones who row, in reference to our Viking lineage. Let us embrace this name for us and establish the Empire of Russia, the Land of The Rus. However, we mustn't stray away from The All Father and his wisdom that has watched over our lands, or atleast not stray from our ancestral beliefs and their Nordic religion
Hey Surreal, I don’t currently have the time right now to type up a full-on role play story, so I’d just like to say in a half-role play manner, I think it’d be really interesting if you try to find a way to blend both Russia and the Nordic Culture into 1, it’s a bit late now to say, convert to Russian but keep Nordic gods or vice versa, and since I don’t think there’s an in-game cultural “melting-pot” between them, it could still be a fun idea and a way to create an alternate creation history of the Russian identity. Perhaps when you reform the Nordic religion, you could, in role-play at least, describe it as a blend of Slavic and Norse traditions!
One issue is that the ability to sail rivers is tied to culture (which is kinda silly, considering medieval Russia's full of rivers), so he should probably adopt the Slavic faith - it'd also mean he could reform his faith without having to take Scandinavia (as I think you need some holy sites to reform a pagan faith).

My king to face the heathen crusade army we must call the best warrior we have. We lost many champion maybe it wise to recruit champion around the kingdom. Odin be praise!
I'm really loving this playthrough keep it up! The only issue I have atm is the character acting like his father (a high martial character) whereas he should focus way more on intrigue and rely on schemes to expand. Keep up the good work.
Faith is power. Men go around insulting others, believing in theirs, or even, for some, being apathic on it. But all that is to me, is power which can be used to morph and direct people around me. Even if the stench of the burned bodies was unbearble, it would be more unbearble to make my people go to war uselessly. I am a knife, not a sword, nor an hammer. So, while the feast around me let me use my left hand, my right hand stayed behind me, to quench fires of rebellions, along with the lives behind them. Then, when the feast was dying down and men and women alike were passing out due to alcool poising, a messanger came. The sounds of the feast died, and I could feel cold seeping into my own bones His face was pale even while his breath was deep, his legs were trembling due to the effort, and there was snow all over him. "The-" he was having trouble breathing, but he refused any kind of bevarage "The head priest of the christians has declared a war against king Emund. He calls-" He took a deep gulp of air, fear in his eyes: "He calls it crusade." The silence became pratically deafening; all the people around me, MY people, turned towards me, silently asking for what to do. They knew that I wouldn't back down, as a son of my father. Man in the learning focus, the theology tree, on the left side (i thought) should be something called prophet which reduces the amount of Piety needed to reform by 50%(i think) i haven't been playing ck3 long so idk about the exact numbers
My most esteemed High King of Gardarik I believe there is a threat we have dismissed for too long. The horsemen in the east have been a threatening presence in our lands for a long time now, but I would not believe it wise to engage in battle with them just yet. Perhaps we should seek friendly relations with these peoples for now? Trade should be quite luxurious with such a big nation! I honestly think it would be cooler if you went with a more ALT historical campaign. I'd like it if you tried to convert more lands to Norse culture eventually and maybe even conquer native Norse lands as well. I'd be very impressed if your formed a giant Scandinavian Empire instead of going the normal historical rout.

Surreal, I'm pretty sure there is a mechanic where, if you move through an uncontrolled enemy county, you take attrition once you leave it, which is why you're taking attrition so frequently during these wars, though I am unsure if this really is a mechanic

The relm should be galvanized to destroy all threats to the power of odin. They want a crusade, then take rome and give them a reason for having one. -A humble warrior looking for a cause
i am noticing that you allow the enemy soldiers to get away and regroup i would advise against this becouse if you chase them they will be easier to finish off and it still gives you completion score all the while reducing their numbers, unless they are retreating to a stronger army or you lose to much chasing them off there is no reason not to finish them off.

m'lord. you can check the rules of succession and to whom every territory will go when you go to sit at Odin's table. iirc you press F2 and at the bottom there is the ereditaries etc. so you'll know how screwed the kingdom will be, and maybe try to fix something
My liege, I know this information might reach you late, but are you aware that if we are attacked while sieging, we will be the attacker and not the defender? So the territory will be against us - also we lost quite some man for moving past unsieged castles. I will provide more advice and thoughts ones I caught up with the most recent developments. Can someone with exprience explain to me what can i do to prevent my kingdom to be apart right after my death As soon as my king/queen dies i become the hier and my father's/mother's kingdom will be shared with my brother or sisters I tried to make a law that forces everybody to obey my hier but that law havent discovered or invented yet and i need to w8 some time but i dont have time im sick and old and soon ill die. If someone knows how to prevent losing my vassels and lands or knows how to confedrate them after Pls tell me
you need to change up how your inheritance and demesne work. Your looking for a singular heir option. It'll take time, lots of prestige and cause lots of strife unless you start out with a nation where it's already established, but it's the best way to keep your holdings passed down to each new player character

Listened to the first 5 minutes with amazement. I saw an advert from Scandinavian Airlines where they say - quite clearly - that you don't have a culture. Certainly not one worth talking about. Did the advertisers lie to me?
Please help or hint anyone. My rival's spymaster (neighbouring king) uncovered secret that my heir is illegitimate and now he has disputed heritage fame trait. I have imprisoned and tortured supposed lover (also murdered all of his children and destroyed his house) of my wife (which is my soulmate and also shy) as well as my wife (tourtured her also) to uncover nothing of the sort. I used my spymaster (18 iintrigue) to uncover secrets for 5 years and i never foud out if my heir is bastard. Could he be bastard or am i being paranoid and tricked? I am ailing (61 years old) and hard question now is are all of my 3 sons bastards or just the first one (she got pregnant just one or two months before we became soulmates) or should i denounce just the first one ( disputed heritage one) and disherit the second one.
Check and see which one of the 3 you'd like to play. Look at their relationships with others in your court and from among those that interact with them (-100 to +100) that's the best way to do what it sounds like you want to achieve, try to make your heir the one with the most support or the one you'll enjoy playing as next the most.

Hello there again, just finished the previous one and just stayed the new one, how you read this before you take action my king. I suggest sir that you learn how to kidnap people, you kidnap kings and heirs in wars and win our without much conflict. Yes I know it is not the most honorable way to fight but honor in like a high ground in battles, higher the honor and higher your ground may be but it isn't always beneficial, because you might be so high that you cannot hit the enemy that is choosing in on you. Be more honorable than your foe but not by a large margin my high king.
It’s better in the shortish long run to switch to Russian culture to be able to tech up faster and in learning it would also be a good idea to look into the health stuff, so you can boost your prestige and piety for longer

Don't forget that you can raid towns and churches as well. You don't need to just go for the castles.

What about the Slavic tribes Russia is more of a east Slavic in origins. Rurik is only in legends but he does have norse origins?

Slavic faith and Nordic faith a very very simmular. The gods are iven more simmular. Its very nice isnt it?

I honestly think it would be cooler if you went with a more ALT historical campaign. I'd like it if you tried to convert more lands to Norse culture eventually and maybe even conquer native Norse lands as well. I'd be very impressed if your formed a giant Scandinavian Empire instead of going the normal historical rout.

Surreal, I'm pretty sure there is a mechanic where, if you move through an uncontrolled enemy county, you take attrition once you leave it, which is why you're taking attrition so frequently during these wars, though I am unsure if this really is a mechanic

i am noticing that you allow the enemy soldiers to get away and regroup i would advise against this becouse if you chase them they will be easier to finish off and it still gives you completion score all the while reducing their numbers, unless they are retreating to a stronger army or you lose to much chasing them off there is no reason not to finish them off.

My liege, I know this information might reach you late, but are you aware that if we are attacked while sieging, we will be the attacker and not the defender? So the territory will be against us - also we lost quite some man for moving past unsieged castles.

you need to change up how your inheritance and demesne work. Your looking for a singular heir option. It'll take time, lots of prestige and cause lots of strife unless you start out with a nation where it's already established, but it's the best way to keep your holdings passed down to each new player character

My rival's spymaster (neighbouring king) uncovered secret that my heir is illegitimate and now he has disputed heritage fame trait. Look at their relationships with others in your court and from among those that interact with them (-100 to +100) that's the best way to do what it sounds like you want to achieve, try to make your heir the one with the most support or the one you'll enjoy playing as next the most.

Yes I know it is not the most honorable way to fight but honor in like a high ground in battles, higher the honor and higher your ground may be but it isn't always beneficial, because you might be so high that you cannot hit the enemy that is choosing in on you. Be more honorable than your foe but not by a large margin my high king.
It’s better in the shortish long run to switch to Russian culture to be able to tech up faster and in learning it would also be a good idea to look into the health stuff, so you can boost your prestige and piety for longer
