    The point is it only makes sense on paper. People who buy n52 usually buy them for reliability and because they’re basically the last na straight 6, supercharging them kills both birds with one stone. Also, I doubt that magnesium block and forced induction is a good combo for a daily. But either way, great video keep on doing those, I love when they randomly pop up.

      Nitrous is a much better option on these motors only use it every month or so and have 100 wet shot and there pretty decent

      ^this 1000000% ! For the time and money to do all that and then some to a 328i, the 335i already has everything you need with much more capability - drop a simple stage 1 tune and you're set. Of course, an N55 is going to be much more work down the line in terms of maintenance, however, if you keep up with it than you'll never have an issue. If you're set on a 328i for whatever reason, go with the N51 (manual) and you'll be good for years to come.

      @@damarion3155 I get the low mileage aspect of it but at 5k you’re getting over 100k miles on the car. Plus it don’t have the internals as strong as a N54….. I agree with Dee. Mind as well just get the n54 a couple bolt on and a tune will have you over 400hp without dumping 3k into it

      @@damarion3155 lol it already comes at 305 hp stock an you can add 90 Hp for $500 a basic tune (+75hp and Cones +15hp) and that’s just a basic set up. N54 already has forged interals and upgraded rings. And you can find 335is for around the same price. Mine was $7500 and 80k miles.

    I own a E92 328i with the N52 i do not recommended supercharging and waste your money the motor will go. Just do active autowerke headers, custom tune, and nice exhaust and enjoy it. Very reliable bmw motor but it cannot handle supercharge and will experience huge issues.

    No way 6 psi will make 400 hp. Stock they come with a single stage intake manifold so you actually want the 3 stage manifold from the 2006 330i. That will make 260 hp. Adding 6 psi of boost will at best add 80 hp.

      @@royxl9506get it the 330i stage 3 manifold, headers, better intake and obviously tune it and you should be up there in the numbers, headers should add maybe 10-20 horsepower? the stage 3 manifold gives you the power of the 330i which is 260 i believe.

      3500 on a high mileage 335i Auto is easier to find got shit trans, if u find a manual you're golden... as long as its stock and engine turns over.. mileage dont fucking matter...

    I have a n52 and I’ve looked deeply into forced induction because it seems like the best way to create some power but the sad reality is that the engine n tranny cannot handle much boost at all and it would inevitably be cheaper to just get a n54

      The n54 tranny can’t hold that much ether you would know this if you actually did research unless your talking about the mt both at im the 328 and 335 would need clutches the trans in the 335 will start slipping around 550/600 whp with stock clutches lucky for us the e9x parts are not expensive anymore these clutches are only 900 dollars now the labor is a different story tho

      @@ericroper380 n54 can handle significantly more than n52. n54 was the first bmw engine to have a turbo so they made sure that the components could handle way more power than the car put down just incase something was weak and overlooked.

    Boosting any N/A car will always be a shot in the dark, even if you got good compression and leakdown numbers before you bought it. There's not a crazy amount of tuning support for these engines for boost either. These magnesium blocks are really a shot in the dark when it comes to boost. For the money it's worth getting a 335i. He forgot to mention the fact you'll need a better fuel pump and injectors for this aswell... Atleast with an n54/55 it's built for boost, and it only takes basic bolt ons to get moderate power figures. Going down the n52 route will only be a rabbit hole of issues once you go with boost

      Theoretically on paper it seems simple. But wait till you buy the car and have it sitting on a lift on jackstands or a lift because the build ends up costing you way more then you expected. There's alot of supporting mods that you need to go down this route and without them the car will blow up in the first month it's on the road.

    3 stage intake manifold is a better option for balanced performance for the n52 and it's dyno proven that the n54 manifold and 3sim have similar stats on paper. Only difference is that the n54 manifold has a bit better top end but bad low end torque.

    Imo the N52 should be left stock. Best bet is just changing out suspension components and maybe brakes but that’s pretty much it. It’s great the way it is.

    Any BMW NA straight 6 should always be the preferred choice for powerplant, regardless of age. It's BMW's specialty for a hundred years now. They pretty much perfected them before introducing DISA and VANOS, and that stupid oil pump in the M5x engines, but there's a $12 fix for that. I'll take a 328i over a 335i any day. 🚀

      Yeah I'm thinking about feening for familys' cars for my first few years of driving and saving up for one of these. I would never boost it tho, just a three stage manifold and tune with an exhaust

    The 328/330 is my favorite e90 but it’s not meant to be a crazy tuner. Its a killer daily and they run forever. One of those “better to drive a slow car fast” kind of cars that you can beat on all the time - a 200k mile modded 328i owner

    If you want to get 60 or 70 hp, you ll need a full custom admission and exhaust system, custom manifold headers (around $1000) and a chip tuning and a decat or a sport catalyst. And if you want to make it more fun also a Quaffe LSD. Also, if you have the n52 engine, you ll need the manifold from 330i, and if you have the n51 engine, you ll already have the 3 stage manifold.

    I’m sorry the misinformation in this guys videos is absolutely ridiculous finding a low mileage n52 for 5k with low miles is just not plausible especially since even one’s with 170k are still going for barely less then that. Not to mention the supercharger kit he displayed is almost 5k in itself (4750)

    The n52 internals can't handle that much boost . You'll blow your engine before hitting 400hp

    I have one of these 2009 BMW 328i xdrive 6 speed.
    Don’t get the N54 intake, get the 3 stage intake, it’s better than the N54.
    Also the tune costs more than that, just getting a basic stage 1 tune is roughly $480. There’s a couple other things you need to do as well to make this all work nicely.
    Also not every 328 is a N52 most are SULEV N51 which already has the 3 stage intake so you’re worse off going with the N54 intake.

      To be honest if you’re gonna run a supercharger you’re going to need an n54 intake manifold to hold more boost Even though you can run a 3 stage intake manifold if you want it to but you’ll gain the Low end torque A lot faster with the n54 intake manifold with the tune from stage FP you’ll gain that power 👌🏾

    I loved my n52, but if you’re going to drop 5k+ on a supercharger kit and then extra costs on building the block + the tune, you might as well put the money into an N54 or N55. Doesn’t quite make sense to do all that work for a NA variant, you put more money into the car than what it’s worth at that point lol

    Ess kits start at 4500.
    5-6 psi and you're looking at 230- 270whp.
    Intercooler or meth injection , blower upgrade and around 15 psi is needed to make "well over 400rwhp".

    Iv got a 2008 528i with the N52. Great Daily reliable engine. I can say without a doubt if you supercharge it youll 100% blow the engine and most likely the transmission to go along with it. If your adamant in getting another 75 to maybe 85 Hp out of the engine its way safer to just . 330 Intake manifold, Cold Air intake, Headers, exhaust, AA Turn and Tune for ZF trans. Even doing all that youll for sure want to already have done a bunch as far as coils, Water pump, fuel injectors, brakes, engine internals and suspension etc, etc, to compensate for the added horsepower and torque being applied to the engine and chassis of the car. Plus what you spend in parts and labour or headache in doing it yourself you'll have spent more money or just as much if you bought an 535, 550 even and M3.

    All that after doing your valve cover and gasket and oil filter housing gasket and oil pan gasket and then your fuel pump will go bad bc it has to work harder and of course ignition coils too, but at that point might as well replace the soarkplugs too and yeah Bmw gotta love it

    The N54 manifold isn't a direct fit on the N52 head and the alignment needs to be adjusted by modifying the parts (perhaps a machine shop). Also the N54 manifold has no hole to bolt the PCV (elbow with heater)

      N52 don’t like turbos have weak internals if you want turbo of the same year go 335i with n54 come twin turbo or you can do big single and push 500 easy or 7-800 with about 10k in mods
