This is a VERY thorough look at the microinverter manufacturing process. Very cool. There is a LOT in common between this and computer motherboard manufacturing. I am really impressed with the 50 year goal for the sample stress testing as well. It makes the 25 year warranty less of an insurance against failure and more of a guarantee. There are more considerations and mitigations (heat, seismic) in these than I imagined.
Am so glad my installer spec'd my PV system with Enphase IQ8A Inverters/Combiner Box. Will be adding Enphase 5P Batteries next year. I also told my installer if it wasn't made in the US I didn't want it. So the used Q-Cell PV panels made in GA.
In the next month I will have my Enphase system. 20 Panasonic EVERVOLT® HK Black Series Solar Modules, 410/400W. 20 Enphase IQ8M Microinverters. 8 Enphase IQ Batteries 5P. 40 kilowatts of backup power. Enphase rocks! Thank you, Sunline Energy, San Diego, California!
A very nice tour and Enphase did a great job. The only thing I wish they had addressed was recycling at end of life. I am amazed as a new solar owner at how these companies who claim to be providing “green” technology seem completely uninterested in recycling their products. For example, potting is a cheap way to enhance the reliability and life of electronics, but it greatly complicates recycling at end of life. We really need to see solar companies step up and address the recycling/reclamation issue. It is great to see a company manufacturing in America. Nice job highlighting this.
Very valid question. This will be a good one for us to address in a future video. Thanks! It is on the minds of a handful of manufacturers. Qcells recently announced a recycling partnership with Solarcycle.
Thx for the great tour. Amazed that a manufacturer allows all that to be filmed. Very happy with my 1 yr old IQ8Ms. Thought I had a bad one out of the box. Tech support said take readings at the connector. Sure enough…it was not clicked in all the way…my bad. 28 all good.
This is from Enphase's website - Enphase microinverters have a double-insulated, corrosion-resistant polymer housing that is IP67 certified. We don't have more info than that. I'm sure they would provide more information if you reached out to them directly.
IT's always great when the audio is channeled through the speaker side that the person is on... but it's so weird when it's not and the audio is flipped.
Larry and Miguel switch sides throughout the tour. So you're right, the audio doesn't always match the side they're on. Either way, Miguel gave a great tour. Thanks for watching!
I had enphase stocks, i profited from them. But as an electrical engineer i know DC straight to AC is NOT the future. The future is to keep DC. So MPPT's (DC/DC) straight to a DC Bus to your battery. That's why i see no future in micro inverters.
WOW, loose hair, carboard fibers, wool hats, I can't believe that anyone would assemble such a sensitive device in that environment. All of the component feeds are exposed to that environment. One hair can compromise a sonic weld seal, one fiber will ruin a surface mount solder. Many such defects would take years to show up and are unlikely to be caught in their 2/1000 durability tests (especially if those test don't include water splash or immersion). I am not favorably impressed.

I am glad to have Made in USA quality micros on my roof, good job Larry!
It's a great thing! 👍Thanks for watching!
Love to see this in-depth tour! Great work guys!
Thanks! 👍
Awesome tour, it makes me appreciate my Enphase micro inverters all the more!
It's an impressive production line. They've made quality a big focus.

We came away impressed as well with the amount of testing and quality control they have built into the process. Thanks for watching!

That lab coat looks good on Professor Larry.
😂
Now we need the Solar Edge tour. 😁
We hope to provide a lot more content like this in the near future. Thanks for watching!
Well done Paradise Energy!
Thanks for watching!

We’re glad all 28 are good to go. 👍
It shows the type of company Enphase is. We were honored to be welcomed in. Thanks for watching!
Good video esp for new college graduates
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!
Amazing facility, amazing tour.
Agreed! We loved seeing it. Thanks for watching!
What type of Plastic are you using for the case?
