I'm not even Australian and this is one of the most nostalgic songs I have heard. I remember singing this in primary... This is so beautiful.
we are Australian and proud but only being one makes sense..... Australian is a lifestyle and not many will understand our songs but we love and respect our fallen from all wars. Australian spirit will live on forever!!

As an old soldier, now retired this sure raises the hair on the back of my neck. You are right Ghastly it should be our national anthem. Imagine this being sung at the Olympics
+Peter Hay not only as a Soldier, I'm an Airman as well. I'm pretty sure Seamen as well as all Australians would rather this as the national anthem.
I don't know if it works as an anthem. As an American, I would favorably compare this with the Lee Greenwood hit, "God Bless the USA" in that neither is really an anthem, but both capture the spirit of the respective countries. I enjoy hearing this, especially when Bruce Woodley sings his creation.

Absolutely fantastic version of this beautiful song. The arrangement was first class and the musicians spot on, but the singer was in a class of her own. What a fantastic voice and wonderful phrasing...It gave me a lot of pleasure...thanks to you all.
