    Hi again! Finally I got my Shad mounting plate, but it does not have mounting holes that match the ones on the goldwing. So, other holes must be made. I assume that you used unequal spacers, shorter in the front and longer in the back. What kind of spacers did you use? What length? Where did you buy them from?

    hey Zamfield. i have the exact same bike as you. Does the Shad plate hardware for the top case fit directly on your rack in the back? really like this set up and being we have the same color scheme I appreciate the video.

    • @zamfield

    Handsome AF looking bike, man! 🤘 Thank you for making this video because you've given me several mod ideas for my '24 bagger that's on order. You've answered everyone's questions, many of which I had (thanks again), yet one thing I really like and am curious about is where you got your shifter peg? Looks longer than stock, which I need. Please and thank you. ✌

      Thanks Peter. I really enjoyed building the bike up to what it was.
      The shifter has an extension on it. Slides on and has reverse spikes inside that help it stay on but I added some black silicone to it also.

    Have a 2019 goldwing dct. Bought the Shad top case but haven't installed yet. I See you used the honda oem luggage mount to mount the adapter plate. Does it bolt directly to the honda luggage rack or did you have to drill holes to make the plastic shad plate fit?

    • @zamfield
      @zamfield  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Have to drill holes. It’s easily done. Center punch then use a step drill.

    • @stevenkraus1679
      @stevenkraus1679 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @zamfield ended up using the same factory rack as you. Also bought the all aluminum shad mount instead of the plastic one it comes with. You can really torque down the aluminum plate. Much more solid attachment and eliminates a lot of flex with the plastic plate

    • @unicornhairhead
      @unicornhairhead 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice job. I have the same bike. I’m a bit confused on how you attached the top box. I also have the Honda luggage rack but take it off when not on an adventure. Can it be attached directly to the rack or do you still need their rack or to install it?

    • @zamfield
      @zamfield  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@unicornhairhead thanks! You can attach it to the Honda and late or straight to the bike but, it has to be bolted down.
      The box removes easily enough leaving just the mounting plate.

  • @0to9
    @0to9 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    this kind of combination is unreasonable in China, cause F6B sold higher price than the normal GOLDWING TOUR, and there is no reason people spend more money on lack of a tail trunk and 2 speakers then pay more money for an extra trunk...just share different life on earth.

    • @zamfield
      @zamfield  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This isn't an F6 it's a Goldwing Bagger. Can't speak for China or prices. Use the idea or don't, it's your call. This is a much better option for me as I don't want the (permanent) tour box on the back.
      I don't use the speakers personally. I think having music blaring out is obnoxious. I use my Cardo in the helmet, but again, each to their own.

    • @0to9
      @0to9 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not saying I can't understand your intentions, detachable tour trunk is also one of my demands. I am just sharing the thoughts of riders or owners in different countries. After all, in China, as a developing country, a GOLDWING TOUR AIRBAG sold about 70k USD with tax...owners here may just want the same price with more products.

    In this video it is the same Shad mounting plate as the one presented in this video? (th-cam.com/video/YZ6fMctKe8c/w-d-xo.html) It seems to be different.

    • @zamfield
      @zamfield  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, I changed it out to the aluminum one. It’s lower profile than the big plastic one.

    • @moto-adventure
      @moto-adventure ปีที่แล้ว

      I ask this because I also want to mount a Shad 59X topcase on my GL1800 (2023). So, I understand that the aluminum plate is attached directly to the frame of the motorcycle using screws and perhaps some spacers? As far as I know, the polypropylene plate must be attached first to a metal support plate.....

    • @zamfield

      @@moto-adventure you remove the plastic inserts that hide the connecting points, add some spacers and bolt the plate directly. The larger Shad plate doesn’t have to mount to a metal plate, it too can be bolted straight to the bike.
