    Thanks this was helpful. I was afraid to pull in things to hard but once I knew how they come off, it was easy!

    Great work! Just picked up my Blue 22, took 2 months from reserving it to get here. Wish I was on your end of the world for some help as that looks labor intensive. Not quite riding weather yet here in Maryland near the D.C. area so just staring at the bike for now. Subscribed and looking forward to more content.

      Congrats on the new bike, you will be so happy on this bike...its a beast! Speaking of Labor intensive, alot of content was cut with me struggling with the rear cover, that thing was a pain! Those rear clips would not budge.

      @@tracktoys9269 Yessir I figured that section was a beast as there was an obvious cut in the action haha. All that matters is you got it figured out and completed the task. That being said I may be paying to have it installed, yikes lol.

      @@robcrawford1092 Why I did it myself. Honda wanted up to $200 in labor to install the rider backrest when I bought it....no thank you. Im perfectly capable of doing it myself. Just give me my $300 backrest so I can get out of here! LOL

    What was the trick to get the rear top cover off that you battled with off camera? I have the 2 push-pins and 2 bolts removed but cannot get the top cover to slide off.

    • @tracktoys9269
      @tracktoys9269  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yea, it was not easy. I even tried using a towel wrapped large screwdriver. Remember that there are 2 rubber studs on the very rear. you just have to pull it hard to get it to release. Put some lube on them for easy removal next time. If there will be a next time..haha

    • @waynebuff1078

      Wow, the cover was a bear to get off like you said. I really had to pull and tug on it. Thought for sure I was going to break it. Thank you, thank you, thank you, I wouldn’t have gotten it off without your reassuring words.

    great video, very detailed. I am looking at the gold wing vs Road King, wife likes the Wing so I'm sure we are going wing...haaa now touring vs basic is next choice

      Well lets put it this way, the tour for her when she rides with you quite a bit (the bike has a 2 up mode), or the non-tour if it just you and the wife rarely rides, and just install a seatback. But either one is quite capable to travel cross-country.

    Are you happy with the aftermarket part, or do you wish youd have spent the extra money gor oem?
    Thanks,

    Is this the same way the Hondaline backrest installs. I want to add a luggage rack later and don’t want the area for the luggage rack to be used for the backrest

      Im not really sure how the honda accessory is installed, maybe in the same spot. But they both (Backrest/rack) use the same bolt holes under the plastic tabs under the cover in the back. The worst part is getting that cover off for the backrest, you dont have to remove it with the rack.

    Out of curiosity…what are those two covers on the rear of the bike actually for? Is that where the mounting holes would be for the trunk on the touring?

    • @tracktoys9269
      @tracktoys9269  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes they can be removed for either the trunk kit or a luggage rack behind the passenger seat.

    Is this the Stock seat ? Looks like the passenger has some nice room? Does your passenger have room between them and the riser backrest? Or are they touching?

      yes its the stock seat, she lays back on the backrest but doesnt seem to touch the front seatrest

    Hey Forrest, I was eyeballing the C- channel bracket to see if it had a rubber seal or gasket inside the C-channel to prevent water intrusion.I noted a wiring bundle just under where the modified bracket was, to allow the after market seat post to be mounted. As water is gravity driven, would rain follow the seat back post down into the wiring block?( I realize you don't normally ride in the rain, but anyone could be caught as you opined).Two questions Sir:
    1) Do you think it would be prudent to lay in a silicone bead around the bracket mod?
    2) Does the Honda seat back install without bracket mods?Thanks.
    May you,your family,friends,& neighbors always be safe.Live Long & Prosper brother,just subbed,luved that Dragon Tail ride series,phil🇺🇲🍀👍

      Well first, thanks for watching! I appreciate it. now, I dont water would be an issue, I have had multiple motorcycles and many have seen the worse rains you have ever seen. With no issues on shorting or water problems. All motorcycles have sealed weatherpacks for connectors and the stereo unit under the seat is well protected. I dont really remember if water can run down through the bracket or not. I think there is a rubber seal in that slot where the bracket runs through. So I dont believe water can seep through. The install was fairly straightforward. there wasnt any modifications to make to the seat of the seat back bracket, it was engineered specifically for that bike. Going back to your 1st question, that is entirely up to you if you want to seal it but I dont think it's necessary. You should be fine. Thanks again for the well wishes. If I ever get any time off again, I will return one day to the dragon to see how the DCT handles it! I really want to go back to pch, that was a ride of a lifetime.
