@@jamesmasin159 From my research, Yes, parts are expensive. A few parts are surprisingly cheap but most are pretty pricey. They chewed through a lot of brakes and suspension bushings cause they are heavy. Coupled that with 14 mpg average makes these cars quite expensive to run in general. But most of the mechanical components are relatively stout and simple to work on. I wouldn't recommend it as the only daily driver for most people but it would make a great second or third car as a kind of semi-daily driver.
@@ravichjakkaratropart5083 ok got it, thanks. Fun fact the later 4.7L GTS versions are in fact not a pain to maintain. They are actually robust and relatively mechanically simple with no big "gotcha" drivetrain issues that are expensive. Valve cover gaskets go but cost 300 bucks and can be done yourself. ZF is a mercedes unit and is robust and reliable. The alternator can go out but again about 600 bucks for a new one and you can swap it in yourself if you were able to handle the valve cover gasket as it's basically the same labor. Nothing else really goes bad beyond normal wearables. Same applies to a 2013+ Granturismo Sports. I recently got a Granturismo MC and refreshed every fluid, brakes, belts, valve cover gaskets, and engine/trans mounts for 3k in parts to get it to a fully mechanically sorted example. Highly recommend. These are special cars that provide special experiences!
Sorry for a little corrective input but Mercedes builds their automatic transmissions themself. 5G-Tronic and later 7G-Tronic in the concerned time era. They sold it to other companies but - no surprise - not as a 6-speed. So the ZF 6-speed can't really have a connection to Mercedes. But as mentioned in the video, this type of transmission was used on a lot of other car brands. I don't want to question your other points, they are probably quite true.
Your professor sounded like a cool dude and a true car enthusiast. Rare. To give context about depreciation. When new in 2008, this Maserati and a Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG had the same MSRP. Now, both of these cars trade for around the same value on the used market. Depreciation hits every exotic luxury car brand. It doesn't matter if the car is German, Italian or British. Depreciation is not exclusive to Maserati. Poor people think rich people drive them because the rich buy them new and pay for certified maintenance. It is very rare for exotic cars to be taken care of after their original owner.
These things cost about 5 grand now in Britain and used to cost about 90 grand. Holy depreciation today! Edit: these 5 grand ones might not be great quality…

Soo nice to drive, but even at the 50,000 mile well maintained mark, oh my goodness it sure did "ask" for so many parts every other drive. They also seem to be as battery sensitive as like an early VW Bentley, even with a battery maintainer the damn thing would want the door handles to be "reactivated" almost every other week, up until the physical handle broke apologies if not any of that made sense, currently at 5% brain activity due to flu/fever
A key like that is actually perfect to me. You can drop them 100 times, forget them in the washing machine and they will still work. They are lightweight and do everything a key needs to do. The newer (BMW?) keys have screens that can break, need to be charged on a docking station and are bigger and heavier than a smartphone.
It's actually a very underrated car. Yes, Maserati had problems on the first models Quattroporte and not because of the engine but because of the box, the clutch on which had to be changed almost every 9,000 kilometres, and the price was anormous. The gearbox was actualy pretty similar if not the same as in 599 GTB (not GTO). But when they replaced it with ZF all the problems went away. By the way, this engine is very reliable and can compete even with Toyota's UZ. Besides, UZ is heavier and produces almost 1.5 times less horses. And about the sound I am not saying at all, the way Quattroporte sounds, no V8 on a market sounds As for the differences from the 430 engine, yes there are, but not really that many, it's the same F136 Maserati/Ferrari engine. The Ferrari has a different displacement, 4.3 vs 4.2(4.7) in the Maserati, the displacement is different because of the piston stroke, the pistons are both 92mm. The Ferrari has a different intake, exhaust, more efficient injectors, and flat plane crank (Maserati has a normal one). That's about it, of course, with a slightly different fuel system. But if anything, the Ferrari engine has slightly more horses, 480 versus 405 in the Maserati. The engine is actually unkillable, and most importantly, it's hand-built by one man. The cost of a second hand engine is now a penny too, to get a lightweight v8 with 405 horses, with the reliability of a UZ I believe its a good deal.

They made 667 of these sport GTS for 2007 - 2008 model years. Sport GT would not have body color matched door handles (they would be chrome) among other details. I also believe the Sport GT would have retained Skyhook. This GTS does not have adaptive dampers.

The Ferrari sedan 😂😂
Sticky buttons. What more proof you need lol. But honestly it’s just fun watching the comments 😉
If you want boring, perfection, normalcy…like a family with kids and a dog…buy German….I am telling you…buy a well maintained one…..and you’ll never buy another car.
The flagship of depreciation (especially if it were to have cambiocorsa 💀)
I was really surprised to see it's from 2008. The styling genuinely looks ten to fifteen years older than it is in my eyes. Makes me think of a slightly sleeker Crown Vic. Know I'll get assassinated for this but I hate Ferrari related things so I'm used to it :)

Lower the car, change exhaust and give it a tune…and you won’t want another car.
I don’t understand Maseratis. They’re about as reliable as a lawn mower off Temu and they don’t look special.
This car is a sport gt not gts !!!
The sport gts is 4.7 and start from 2009 !!!
They made 667 of these sport GTS for 2007 - 2008 model years. Sport GT would not have body color matched door handles (they would be chrome) among other details. I also believe the Sport GT would have retained Skyhook. This GTS does not have adaptive dampers.
