Just got hold of a diamond back grind from my neighbour who was throwing it away. Nothing wrong with it, giving it a once over and gifting to my nephew. Never touched a bmx before so thanks for the video bro 👍 appreciate it
Dude I found a bike on ice and took it home but I have never worked on that type of break you made one thing get checked off my list of things to do for it
Great video.. Not a fan of the U-Brake but one came on the cheap Slammer I found. Felt like it was fine before I changed my tires.. but one side was way off and not moving inwards. Other side wasn't super close but moved just enough to get some stoppage. Kept trying to adjust the cable and idk if I broke something but one side kept rubbing (the closer one) and didn't want to release (snap back/off). I just ordered a new caliper and I'll toss it on, I usually have better luck just putting something new on hehe.
@@jayrbee yeah, that’s probably the direction I would have went too at that point. Sounds like something is wrong with one of the springs. Thanks for watching! -Rob
I installed the Speingfield and well hard to describe but one of the pads are further away from the rim then the other one that are closer. My non professional conclusion is that my rim isnt centered, however after changing to a 28T sprocket i cant get it more center then what it is because then the chain tension is way to much, it way to tight. Anyway i can brake so it isnt really a problem for now. I watched your clip installing the Spreingfield, only difference from you is that my install took like 3,5 hours =D
I have everything on Rob but my brakes and the two hooks hook on the brake and when i go to put those two hooks in the brakes it just falls out and my cable has stray metal wire but works and i did everything you said but those two hooks keep falling out because it doesn’t hook on like yours does
I'm having a hard time picturing it. if you want, you can send a picture to rob@basementbikeshop.com. it might be that your cable is returning faster than your brakes. it could be that your brake is hanging up or there is not enough tension on your springs. or something wrong with the straddle cable connection.
Also make sure the the two connectors at the end of the brake cable are properly connected to the brake claws haha ! (i simply rotated them, before they were on the wrong side and now my springfields will work fine hopefully) #nosqueekyshizzlefornow
I was wondering how I can fix the brakes not halting the wheel to a complete stop (like it won't leave black lines if I would be speeding and grab the lever it just slows the back wheel but not to a complete stop) If you could assist with this it would be amazing, thanks in advance!
Thanks bro, one brake wasnt moving and thanks to you i can now ride again
Me too

thanks a lot! great video
You’re welcome! Glad I could help!
What if the non pad end of one side keeps rubbing the crank? I can’t figure out how to adjust it away
Do you have a video about front U brake problems? My son has the Odyssey Springform and I can't figure out how to adjust it.
Thanks this helped me

If it feels like there is enough pressure but the wheel just isn't stopping, try cleaning your rims with simple green or windex.
My issue was I had over tensioned the springs in my U brake and it would just lock to the rim no matter what.
My bottom caliper arm rubs on the seat stay 🤷🏻♂️
Good video
Great 👍
I have the first problem but on the other wheel
I have different type of u break
thx
The first part you check is the lever then cable then brake itself .your instructions to install brakes do not cover sanding and lubing the posts
It almost is like my hanger is too long
YOU DIDNT ADJUST THE BRAKE ????
