I've done a lot of programming against large language models. To get good results, it helps to break down the problem. There is probably not a lot of training data available for Vital so a brief, one-sentence Vital-specific prompt is guaranteed to go off the rails. It's probably better to break the problem up and to focus the prompting on general synthesizer concepts. For example, prompt the model to give you typical pluck parameters for attack, decay, sustain, and release. Then move on to prompt about values for filters. Include descriptions of desired units you want for specific parameters, e.g. milliseconds vs. dB vs. Hz. If you want it to take into account Vital-specific features, such as how you apply a filter in the UI, try incorporating Vital-specific examples into the prompt, e.g. "In Vital, envelopes are applied by and these are the filter types available: ".
The obvious question here is, "what if I don't know how Vital works", but a programmer making a fork of Vital with a GPT-enabled chat box would, and would be able to transparently add this to the user's prompt after they send it off. Another option is to YOLO and upload a screenshot along with the prompt. I have no idea if that would work, just explaining how I approach getting what I need from these models. How you prompt and the context that you provide is very important. While your video shows how disappointing the results can be, they are still very, very powerful when applied well and incorporated into a system along with contextual information that is not well-represented (or just absent) in the training data.

There are so many people doing what you do, but I haven't seen a single person who is better than you. I can't wait to see when you finish building your studio. Thank you and keep up the good work.

Claude Sonnet is said to be better generally, I think at the rate things are improving with services like Suno and Udio, isn't a massive stretch to assume the next round of AI powered plugins are going to be pure madness.

AI assistance is great but AI just flat out doing it for you is in my eyes going to roll back human intelligence. If you do not need to learn then surely we do not need to bother which in turn makes us dependable. Deep but true 😎

@@demishellen People will make music regardless of what AI is doing; it's just a fun thing to do. It's like how AI has dominated chess for a long time, yet people still enjoy playing and competing. I think AI is simply going to supercharge an already highly creative mind into exploring avenues not thought of before. We'll see an explosion in novelty. I agree that in the end, AI may take over completely, but I'm not sure what the world will look like at that point, as it's likely to have mastered everything else we can do as well.

Try one with a more detailed prompt maybe? Tell it it's a expert at sound design. That it's a expert at Vital and has a deep understanding of all it's options and how to craft rich, professional sounds with it. That kind of context can really improve the output it gives a lot. Tell it it's PVD and make a trance pluck 😂

Did you try the same approach but with Serum instead, or maybe Pigments?
Serum is better known, and maybe ChatGPT has more knowledge about it, probably returning better results.

I imagine it would be just as vague at this stage. I will check though 👍🏻

@@demishellen maybe add helpers to the prompts like "detailed instruction" and "comprehensive tutorial" or "2000 word essay"
