Bronco Restoration - Porting Intake (GT-40 Intake)

Bronco Restoration in progress. We are building a 347 Stroker Motor and needed to port the GT-40 intake that came with the Ford Explorer. The porting is not too difficult, so give it a shot.

It doesnt cause a slow down, a narrowing like a venturi causes a velocity increase.
The change of velocity consumes energy.

Nice! Stock GT40 is about 200cfm so a bottle neck for most engines with aftermarket heads. They make the most torque though. I have a stock tubular GT40 on a 331 it made 365TQ at wheels but only 315hp. Definitely choked out.

Beauty, should run pretty good. I'm really familiar with this setup. I am currently running this same setup in my 86 ford ranger. It hauls the mail. You should be satisfied with it

how do you clean out the intakes after you were done? shavings? compressed air? soak it? curious

Water hose and an air hose repeatedly

Compressed air, shop vac, parts cleaner, then post cleaning with mineral spirits and white rags.

What size throttle body fits your upper intake now that you ported it? 70mm?

I don't understand why anyone would bother with a 8.2 deck Windsor if there isn't space constraints, spending the money to build a 347 when you can use a 351 and if your spending the money for a stroker kit you could have a 408... That's free HP for comparable expense. Now take my sn95 going 9.5 deck is not a great option being considerably taller and wider makes things tight, hood clearance and you need to change exhaust and accessories among other things making the idea of a 351 swap na screw that and a 347 way more attractive option.
