Ehhhh yes and no. My roommate had an issue where skin kept trying to grow over their vagina and urethra so was given a topical hormone cream they had to use from the age of three until they were in their teens when it finally stopped. Hormones given to young children was actually already a thing prior to gender transition of children, and the banning of gender affirming care also affects the kids like my roommate who had to go through stuff like that. And for the record, my roommate is nonbinary, and I'm agender, so please don't mistake this as some transphobic thing somehow. Also, I did ask if I could share their story if that's also a worry.

Reality is that trans accepting people outnumber the bigots. But they aren't as loud and in your face. That needs to change. Here's the issue with that (admittedly clever argument) and basically every argument and fact that trans people have. They don't care. The bigots are bigoted and start with the conclusion and work back to the rationalization. If you adeptly argue the first rationalization they will move on to another. Because science, or culture, or kids' safety, or religion aren't the point. The bigotry IS the point.
I'm not saying that debate isn't valuable. I get into it quite a lot online. Not to change the mind of the person I'm arguing with though. Rather to inform all those watching in the sidelines who are maybe on the fence. Or allies who don't have the knowledge or tools at the time to argue themselves. Showing that we aren't doormats and can speak up and won't go quietly into the night is also a valid reason.

These transphobes are coming up with some pretty crazy reasons to justify their hatred and justify why people disagree with them.

My dad is literally the best dad in the world and I’m still trans. He has never even CONSIDERED hurting me and only yelled at me once in my entire life. And I don’t even remember it. He is the best and I wish when my parents split when I was a toddler that he got custody instead of my mom

The nuclear family structure, with a male figurehead and a subservient female partner who stays at home with the kids, is a major component of religious fundamentalist schooling. It's used as a means to blame or shout down someone who they deem isn't "godly" enough by making up nonsense about "satanic influence."
Even in their own culture, if a devout family goes through conflict, abuse, or similar, they're told that "it must have been _your_ fault for unknowingly dropping their guard and letting Satan seep into the household."

They're used a lot in chemistry, for the same reason - meaning same side of (cis) or other side of (trans) a chemical bond. They are perfectly appropriate in the sense we use in this context as well. I don't mind being referred to as a cis gay male - and BTW, your hair looks just fabulous! ;)

To me the most relevant difference between being transgender and the idea of people being trans species is just the very practical fact that treating someone as their gender is something we can do pretty easily.
Like if somehow it could be proven that some people would be happier if they could live their life as a different animal, I don't think that would be wrong for moral reasons, it's just not practically possible. Or like if there was actually anyone who wanted to use a litterbox, I would be against that for hygiene reasons, not because I care about how other people poop.

When I hear of a girl who comes out as trans at 5, my thought is that she really knows herself. And if people can have such a clear understanding of their gender at such an early age it shows that it's real, and it's outside of sex. I think a lot of people might not have a clear gender identity so they default to biology or social norms to define themselves.

And over the years I had plenty more experiences of dissatisfaction with my assigned gender. But I didn't find out that "trans" was a thing until I was a teenager, and by then I also knew that it wasn't socially acceptable, so I just hid my feelings and tried to convince myself I didn't have them.

She started showing a preference for more feminine things since around 2 and her mom always let her choose what she wanted. She didn't even ASK her mom to start using she/her pronouns until fairly recently, her mom never forced this on her and was shocked herself. She literally had a mohawk before saying she wanted long hair. And second all of her children are ADOPTED. She saved their lives from living in foster care until 18. @@goBadgers1995right sweetie did you come back about an hour later than your last message to spontaneously send vaguely threatening messages to someone you don't know online who asked for clarification of your earlier comment?
First up. Please don't misgender people. It gives off the impression that you're just angry about life and hate people simply for existing. And chances are, that isn't a good reflection of your character.
Secondly, I can see that this has been effecting you. You're scared. Hence worrying about "trans vengeance". Protests can be scary things. But when Poli was here in Australia, she attracted Nazis. Hence she was met with noisemakers as is the Jewish Purim tradition for antisemitism.
Thirdly, as aforementioned, protests can get messy. It wasn't meant to be a violent attack. Unfortunately, as so much of history shows us, when people are fighting for their lives and their rights, things can get heated. Do I agree that saucing someone is a good idea? No. But what's worse is going around preaching hatred, inciting violence, trying to strip people of their lives, and condoning heinous "corrective" proceedures.
The LGBTQIA+ community faces threats just as women do. I have trans friends who no longer have a home because their family kicked them out as teens. I overdosed after being "correctively" raped and had to have my stomach pumped at age 15. My own parents aren't coming to my wedding because they subscribe to the same narrative as this speaker. My mother stole my insulin, because she'd rather I die than continue existing as her child.
My friend, you need to really examine whose example you're following. There's plenty of time to change things around. We aren't out to take away your rights or your safety. So don't make thinly veiled threats on the internet to people you don't know. Cos us queer folk have heard it all before.

It's always so interesting how little those people who say "If you don't have a uterus, you are not a woman and can't have an opinion about abortion." know about even just cis women and how much they hurt their cause by excluding potential allies in the fight for women's reproductive rights.
Just because you don't have a uterus doesn't mean you aren't a woman, because:
    1. In rare occasions a cis woman is born without one.
    2. Some cis women have to have theirs removed because of a disease like cancer or get it removed willingly to either prevent those diseases accruing if they are very common in their genetic family or other reasons.
    Etc
And excluding women who can't get pregnant and men from the discussion about women's reproductive rights will lead to a very one sided discussion and potentially less voices for your cause of regaining/protecting those rights.

one of my biggest gripes when people like the meow meow lady present "reality" as some biological truth must be completely ugnorant to a multitude of mental illnesses. I'm not even talking gender identification and secual orientation with this. I mean when someone, like me, with a psychosis diagnosis, has constant conflicts about whether what I go through experiencing is real or not. The frustration lies in the perception others have because they don't witness or partake in what I go through, that makes reality questionable. So the basis of their argument is immeasurably false in its own standing to begin with.
And what therapy and rationale has tought me, is that what I experience, no matter how people percieve it and doubt it, is real. And now we can include how this also applies to gender and sex. Not sorry about being a full individual and not a part of this mass conglomorate that punishes all into conformity cause people like her are simply uncomfortable and demand to take away our spaces to make room for theirs.

My favorite thing about the “trans women aren’t women, that’s why there’s a word in front” argument is that it creates the most exclusive definition of what a woman is: “a woman who cannot be further classified by the use of an adjective”. You can find an adjective that accurately describes literally every woman, meaning this definition excludes EVERY SINGLE WOMAN who has ever lived, is currently living, and will ever live. Under this definition, women simply don’t exist, and the fact that transphobes use this argument would be funny if it wasn’t used to actively hurt real people.

I like the term cis. When I need to share an experience or opinion or something involving my gender that includes having a uterus I like to say “as a cis woman”. Experiences from cis women and trans women can be very different so at some points it’s important to differentiate. That’s not a bad thing at all, trans women have different struggles that I won’t experience as a cis woman and possibly vice versa. It’s easier to distinguish in certain conversations depending on the subject. For example: seeing a doctor, or how I am treated, or the struggles I face in life. I feel better to not sound like a bigot excluding or erasing trans women but that distinction is there. Just like if I were to say as a fat person, or as white person, or any other identity adjective. Transphobes are so stupid omg

I wanna see the crazy cat lady in a classroom full of kids instead of a panel of old people who already brought their pre-formed opinions anyway, because I bet you her whole act would backfire SO BADLY. Children, especially young ones, are the most accepting, ready to roll with your game bunch in the world. I guarantee you if she went into a classroom and said "Hey, I'd like to be a cat today" at least half of the kids would be like "Okay cool" (and at least one would offer her cat food out of their pocket). And it's the exact same thing with trans people. If I went into a classroom and asked "Hey, can I be called Tina today?" they'd roll with it, even if they did perceive it as a game initially. And if I did it consistently, eventually they'd realize what the deal was all by themselves

I had a rather disturbing realization the other day. I get the feeling that the 'trans war' for lack of a better word is being blown up way bigger than it should be (by those against it) to hide bigger, more widespread issues. In my opinion, governments should give trans people their rights, give women back their reproductive rights, and start focusing on things such as the recent law changes the US had to allow child labor. A 14 year old can now work night shifts in some places. A 16 year old can sell alcohol, in some places. Children as young as 12 can get married, and yet people are so focused on trying to say that trans people shouldn't have rights. There are bigger issues! There are people dying from preventable diseases due to the US medical system. The US is a dystopia, in my eyes.

Huh? What even is that question? We've all heard of people setting up false either/ or questions, but usually they are using two concepts that at least appear to have something to do with each other. The idea that we somehow have to choose between human rights for trans people and affordable gas is utterly nonsensical. Neither would get in the way of the other.

The point I'm trying to make is, if you're trans and you've realized late in life, and you're like "But I didn't have any tell-tale signs growing up, maybe Im not actually trans enough" that is 100% BULL COOKIES, you are valid and your gender expression is not the same as your identity.
