You are right when you say Bird doesn't have to do "too much." Of all the greats Bird had the ball in his hands for the least amount of time. He was either catching and shooting or catching and diming all game long. But he also made all of the hustle plays!

Rest in Peace, Bill Walton. 1985-86 was his last healthy year - he won Sixth Man of the Year and helped the C's win a championship.

The reason bird was so open was because the opponets never knew what he was going to do.

It didn't matter what they did. They couldn't stop him. And they never knew what he was going to do. He was playing his own game, and they were just trying to keep up.

This “GOAT SZN” for Larry also happens to be the legendary championship run year for the Celtics.
Man, you GOTTA see how the Celtics ran like a Hive Mind based on Bird’s leadership - they. wore. teams. OUT. !
    Try these videos :
“Making the Case : 1986 Boston Celtics” ( detailing the season from start to the finals)
    ~and~
“The 1986 Boston Celtics Tribute : The Beautiful Game” (showing the beautifully synced passing game that was elegant and highly effective - the *whole* team was very much part of it, too … from starters to all the way down the bench, these guys thrived on *winning* not personal accolades)

Who was number 44, trying to get himself in the mixtape ( at 25:55 - ??)
THAT, sir is Mr. Danny Ainge. You might know him as the GM for the Celtics (2003-2021). Or as current executive for the Utah Jazz.
    * He is the ONLY high schooler to have been named High School All-American in THREE sports ( football, basketball and baseball)
    * He is 1 of only 13 athletes to have played professionally for both the MLB and NBA (he played for the Toronto Blue Jays while in college at Brigham Young, as pro baseball didn’t interfere with his basketball scholarship commitments.) - For the Celtics to draft him into the NBA, they fought a court battle and ended up having to buy out his MLB contact from Toronto.

It was analog, not digital. Didn't have digital back then. When it was first shot it was really good. This is the film deteriorating. Alot of the games are gone forever, just stats left. We are lucky we have what we have.

    • @imweakfordeaky
      @imweakfordeaky 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

Not only that… besides deteriorating films, the image degraded further each time it was transferred to “upgraded” technology. For example : These analog video recordings were broadcast on TV > viewers at home recorded the TV broadcast onto their then-brand-new VHS recorder/players (or BetaMax, which failed to catch on in the long run despite being a better system, but I digress)…
then the folks that had VHS-recorded the games realized THEIR tapes were vulnerable and deteriorating, and besides they’d switched to DVDs and a rewriter/player device to make their own DVDs, so the bought another device that could write(record) old VHS tapes onto DVDs.
So then these folks got PCs that had CD/DVD drives on them so they could watch anything they had on DVD or listen to music CDs.
That soon turned into folks uploading the videos from old analog broadcast sources that had been “recorded onto VHS >played to near extinction> ripped onto first-gen DVDs > played on DVD players in who-knows what state of care again and again > THEN uploaded onto the interwebz (at a time before we had the resolution quality that’s available now…)
You really have to consider how *rapidly* technology has developed and immensely improved in the last 40+ years since these games were recorded !

Why are they giving so much space?
For the same reason they give steph so much space today.
Smart shooters know how to move off the ball and make defenders forget about them for a second. They create their own openings.

Two best players ive seen are Bird and JOrdan, but I prefer Birds game.

Larry Bird greatest small forward of all time. I have a question for the young folks. How can you look at a few years of NBA and think you have seen the greatest player of 70 years of NBA Totally ridiculous. I have Larry 5th all time. There are only 2 players that qualify for GOAT. Mike and Wilt. Aliens. Both 48 inch vertical. Mike 4.3 40 . Wilt 4.4 . Wilt bench press 500lbs . 7'2" with 7' 11" wingspan. 72 NBA records. Never fouled out of a game in his whole. The year he avg 50 points and 25 rebounds he played all but 6 minutes of the whole season. He got ejected. Too fast. Too strong. Jump to high. Can you imagine a tick slower than Mike and 7'2". Aliens
