Sebastian's arc is one of the best in the game. At first, he's irritating, but after case 4 you just feel sorry for him, and everything he accomplished in the last case was amazing. Also, it was a fun self-parody for the ace attorney series, the cliche "prodigy prosecutor" who graduated top of his class at 17, turns out to be a total idiot.
It's also realistic. He steels his resolve, comes back to court to face his father, but when push comes to shove he's still a scared 17-year old, which is better than the trope of the meek, defenseless hero turning Super Saiyan all of a sudden
You could say that his original theme was the song his father made him dance to, playing the part of the fool, and this one is him choosing to follow his own path in life, instead of the roll his father tells him to play.
Sebastian went through a really interesting character arc in the course of this game, going from a complete flake to a competent prosecutor. Standing up to his jackass father was certainly his finest moment!
Grégoire Sanson I always hate when people criticize music in videogames, but it's one of the only forms of Classical still prominent in pop culture, if you show people that you listen to videogame music they think you're weird but it has some fantastic composition.
Not to mention, the instruments that carry the melody & counter-melody - at some points - are the Cello and violin. I like to think the Cello playing is Miles putting Blaise behind bars since he is older and has more knowledge of being a lawyer than Sebastian, while the Violin represents that said name since he’s still young, yet able to go against his fathers custom of being an asshole around everyone. I may be wrong, but it’s still a cool way of how I see it.
Never once I hated this guy. He's dumb and naiive but it's so over the top it becomes endearing. And his character development is one of the most drastic in the series; He's a very relatable character. Also one of the better designed character, love his "expressive" ahoge
@laz kar As amazing of an idea as that would be, Apollo has been shown to be on par with Phoenix in terms of skill, if not straight-up outclassing him as of the end of Spirit of Justice. Even Phoenix himself openly acknowledges this. As great of a character as Sebastian is, he's an idiot, and has had less time than Apollo to learn (and outgrow the idiocy his father's negligence allowed to grow in him). On the other hand, considering her vastly inferior amount of experience and constant need (so far) to rely on others to win trials, Athena vs Sebastian might be a far more interesting trial. Sure, she's smarter than he is, but he's had lots of time to grow out of his stupidity, and he's also probably had a decent bit more experience than her. Combine that with the fact he'd probably be able to find evidence in the most ridiculous of places (he actually combed a garbage dump for evidence of a crime that took place nowhere near it and SUCCEEDED), I'd say they'd be on fairly even ground.

And when his sprite which sheds a single tear, looking up, was introduced, it really showcased how well he was handling the hell he's been through. Well played, Capcom. I was literally shouting out "BABY BOY" when his bold sprite showed up for the first time. Seeing him hold his head high through his tears was such a great moment, especially after his surprisingly tense logic chess match (and dealing the final blow with the king, that was a nice touch)

That leads to the question: Does Mia still live? But since Maya always channeled "Mia", she becomes suspicious of being part of the conspiration :)
The real Mia Fey is really a spy that infiltrated Zheng Fa and killed a spokesperson of the nation to try and start a war between nations! And even worst, one of the spokesperson's bodyguards, Gard Mann, a US veteran, is suspected of murder! Will the Wright Anything Agency be able to take on their biggest challenge yet? Find out on this episode of The Misleading Turnabout!

Right, Judge Larry Butz (between 2019 and 2028, he sould have had enough time to success his exams). Then the trio would be complete... again :)
I like Yumihiko's character. On some level, I find him a very relatable character. Case 5 developed his character very well. And Edgeworth was such a darling. XD

I remember looking at this guy and LOVING him the first time, he was so stupid I liked him, I was jus t like YES DUDE PLEASE TELL ME WOW AMAZING YES VERY NICE PFFFFF. Then his backstory unfolded and this song started playing and he just became my favorite character in the game, hands down.
Just got around to playing the fan translation recently after starting it and always stopping, and wow did I love Sebastian so much. Even when he was pretty much worthless, the dialogue was funny. Watching him grow and recognize his own path as a prosecutor was amazing. The dynamic between father and son is prevelant pretty much everywhere throughout the game and I liked what they did with it.
Most people seem to only start liking Sebastian after his character development, but I've always thought he was funny. While most people think "This guy again?!" every time he shows up, I thought "Oh boy! Debeste time!"
The moment he finally became worthy of his title, overcoming his self-aware behavior and horrible father for the best. Indeed one of the best developed characters through the series.
My wet dream is to see him prosecute a case in AA7 against Athena. Just want to see the apprentices going all out. But of course Sebastian has way more experience than Athena at this point and he proves to see a mighty opponent. I know it won't happen, but I can dream, can't I?
Y'know, I thought he was annoying at first, but then comes the final trial and it's revealed that the guy went the ding dang DUMP and dug through TRASH to get us the evidence we needed. That... I just can't stay mad at that, it's just so endearing. I salute you, Sebastian Debeste, y'hear?
I've loved Sebastian since the beginning...he's been a nice change of pace of prosecutors.... He doesn't harm Edgeworth But he harms himself And he was just a funny charater hands down..
Yeah, I felt the same. At first I was like "Oh no, this character thinks he's the best! He's gonna be another Von Karma-type prodigy". In reality, it was Judge Courtney we had to look out for. It was a very refreshing dynamic for the Ace Attorney series. By case 4 you couldn't help just feel bad for him, and how useless he really was up until that point.
A satisfying theme, plus the fact it's a tango beat. It oozes confidence and screams "It's time to get to business!" Sebastian/Yumihiko's growth is admirable and wonderful!
His original theme was goofy, much like Sebastian at the start. Now, this theme really matches a great person who will grow and accomplish great things.
I had such a feel good moment when this started playing. The combination of of an upbeat/somber feel fits so well. One of my top 10 tracks in the whole series!
If Sebastian ever shows up again (Please God, let him show up again) I want his theme to keep maturing and growing with him. I hope that, as a masterful adult prosecutor under Edgeworth's tutelage, Sebastian has a whole damn orchestra playing his theme which he directs with his little stick thingy.
I hope Sebastian returns for AA7 Maybe have a case involving Justine Courtney as Judge, John Marsh as Defendant, Athena or Phoenix as Defense attorney, and Sebastian be Prosecutor but their piping dreams
Even Sebastian's "absurd" reasoning can be used properly. If sebestian could make his "absurd" theory make enough sense with some solid proof, it will act as a surprise for the defense, shocking and panicking them with something almost no one would be ready for. And considering the fact that Sebastian can find evidence even in the weirdest places (he literally found decisive evidence in a GARBAGE DUMP which was nowhere near the exact crime scene and SUCCEEDED in putting it to proper use with edgy's help) this will only add more shocking surprise and panic for defense. He just needs to learn more...
I'd love for Sebastian to come back as a prosecutor, but instead of having a well-prepared case and planned traps like every other prosecutor in the series (bar the Paynes/Auchi), he's making absurd theories on the fly that barely make sense like the defence always does, which always turn out to be somewhat correct. Would be a good spin on the formula. I also just want to see Debeste again.
It's actually not Ichiryuu's. Ichiryuu means First-Class ("The best" in dub). He is giving Blaise/Bansai a first class farewell, even when he must thank him for making him who he is.

Sebastian is the perfect example of if a child is always spoon fed their entire life they would never grow and discover their true potential and Sebastian the moment he learned and grow up unleashed his potential and it was beautiful
Imagine seeing him in the next AA game, from an idiot that he was in case 2/3 into having a reason to being an idiot and making you feel bad for him (4) then having an amazing redemption arc then he’s a really good prosecutor.
Spoilers: Sebastian is abused for being an idiot by everyone, even his own father. But it was his father who made him that way, by rigging his education. He was never given the chance to learn or grow because of his father's power, and then he gets bullied by Blaise for being the person he made him into, while Sebastian is forced to take the punches and keep relying on his dad because he doesn't know anything else. Poor kid never stood a chance. But it makes Sebastian even more likeable that after 17 years of that, he has such a turnaround in just ONE DAY.
Sebestian Debeste (Yumikiko's fanmade English name in the English patch) is a lot like the Wii U. they weren't really the best at first but now that's all changing and both Sebestian and the Wii U are now awakening they're full potential

Y'know, I thought he was annoying at first, but then comes the final trial and it's revealed that the guy went the ding dang DUMP and dug through TRASH to get us the evidence we needed. That... I just can't stay mad at that, it's just so endearing. I salute you, Sebastian Debeste, y'hear?
I've loved Sebastian since the beginning...he's been a nice change of pace of prosecutors....

Yeah, I felt the same. At first I was like "Oh no, this character thinks he's the best! He's gonna be another Von Karma-type prodigy". In reality, it was Judge Courtney we had to look out for. It was a very refreshing dynamic for the Ace Attorney series. By case 4 you couldn't help just feel bad for him, and how useless he really was up until that point.

The way he grew in such a short time is undescribable. From a mere child to the maestro of himself, in song and in life.
A satisfying theme, plus the fact it's a tango beat. It oozes confidence and screams "It's time to get to business!" Sebastian/Yumihiko's growth is admirable and wonderful!
His original theme was goofy, much like Sebastian at the start. Now, this theme really matches a great person who will grow and accomplish great things.

I had such a feel good moment when this started playing. The combination of of an upbeat/somber feel fits so well. One of my top 10 tracks in the whole series!

If Sebastian ever shows up again (Please God, let him show up again) I want his theme to keep maturing and growing with him. I hope that, as a masterful adult prosecutor under Edgeworth's tutelage, Sebastian has a whole damn orchestra playing his theme which he directs with his little stick thingy.

Even Sebastian's "absurd" reasoning can be used properly. If sebestian could make his "absurd" theory make enough sense with some solid proof, it will act as a surprise for the defense, shocking and panicking them with something almost no one would be ready for. And considering the fact that Sebastian can find evidence even in the weirdest places (he literally found decisive evidence in a GARBAGE DUMP which was nowhere near the exact crime scene and SUCCEEDED in putting it to proper use with edgy's help) this will only add more shocking surprise and panic for defense. He just needs to learn more...
Think back to case 2 - he was actually right about Keyes. It was just that the connection couldn't be proven then.
I'd love for Sebastian to come back as a prosecutor, but instead of having a well-prepared case and planned traps like every other prosecutor in the series (bar the Paynes/Auchi), he's making absurd theories on the fly that barely make sense like the defence always does, which always turn out to be somewhat correct. Would be a good spin on the formula.
I also just want to see Debeste again.

Imagine seeing him in the next AA game, from an idiot that he was in case 2/3 into having a reason to being an idiot and making you feel bad for him (4) then having an amazing redemption arc then he’s a really good prosecutor.

Sebastian is abused for being an idiot by everyone, even his own father. But it was his father who made him that way, by rigging his education. He was never given the chance to learn or grow because of his father's power, and then he gets bullied by Blaise for being the person he made him into, while Sebastian is forced to take the punches and keep relying on his dad because he doesn't know anything else. Poor kid never stood a chance. But it makes Sebastian even more likeable that after 17 years of that, he has such a turnaround in just ONE DAY.
Sebestian Debeste (Yumikiko's fanmade English name in the English patch) is a lot like the Wii U. they weren't really the best at first but now that's all changing and both Sebestian and the Wii U are now awakening they're full potential

and to the other person, i’m saying the game is ruined because the fan translation held a special place in my heart. it was a project made with passion, i liked the names and voiceovers, and this is just a product. the new names don’t fit and the sprites look weird. i preferred it when the game was more niche and had a unique charm to it.
