HE CALLED GUMSHOE HIS FRIEND. Shoot me. Losing his badge, or rather giving it up, really humbled Edgeworth into not being the world's greatest jerk.
Also, Fran, it's totally okay to be concerned. You CAN let that show, you know, as more than just "anger born of worry". Jeeze, she's like his mother or something. It's kinda cute, I guess. She's really grown up a lot over the past two years. The Franziska back then wouldn't have reacted that way and she wouldn't so easily step down from the prosecutor's bench, especially when it's a trial she'll certainly win. I love how she sees herself in Sebastian, and that's most likely what's letting her be able to do this so easily and to actually give him what I think must have been a genuine smile, not her usual smug smirk. This, and Fran has a clear soft spot for children and the child-like.
Also just gotta say... Manfred may have been a jerk, but he seemed to really care about his family so he's at least one-up on Blaise here. Yep.
This... is amazing. Sebastian, I mean. I really, really love his character. I daresay he's easily up as one of my favourites with Franziska and Apollo.
Also I am sliiiightly creeped out by how Blaise's voice is clearly the same as Shields' but just... demonic. It wouldn't be so unnerving, I don't think, if it wasn't the same voice as Shields.
Well I've always thought that Edgeworth viewed Gumshoe as his most trustable ally. You don't just disappear off the face of the Earth for 1 year and only have one person know what really happened to you. But Edgeworth did, and the one person who knew was Gumshoe. Speaks volume of the trust between the two no matter how jerkish Edgeworth acts
Sebastian has some of the best (no pun intended) character development I've ever seen. You can see that under all his annoyance and cluelessness is someone who genuinely wants to do good, but was too busy trying to appeal to his father to actually succeed. He just needed a friend like Edgeworth to point him in the right direction. Not many people are that lucky. Thanks to him, he mustered the courage to stand up to his own father, whom he has looked up to all his life and is even terrified of. If that's not courage, I don't know what is.
Again, I disagree with "best" since there's some that really excel but it was very good. This ge was way better than expected

@@lulystalgianature2968 sorry, but I personally experienced shows like Breaking Bad, Steven Universe, and others you are highly unlikely to know about and they are better. I repeat: They raised my standards to relatively unreasonable levels, so I don't say this is not very good. I say it's not the best.

the timing and execution of the sequences is just fucking perfect, i can't stop grinning like a maniac while shivering from excitement. one of my most favorite AAI2 turnabout moment along with that moment where courtney indicted blaise in case 4.

I just noticed what the story writer was probably going for.
A comparison between the father and son relationship of the Debestes with the Edgeworths.
Edgeworth had a father he admired and his father loved him while Debeste had a father he admired but his father despised him like he was a nuisance.
Just knowing these 2 forming a great team is just satisfying.
I think it's more a parallel between the Debestes with Miles and Manfred...
This game's unofficial title could just as well be Ace Attorney Investigations: Daddy Issues.
Don't forget Gustavia and the Man who Masterminds the Game.

Sebastian....Courtney...two characters I thought will get annoying pretty fast...yet they both become my favorites~

In hindsight, I don’t think Sebastian was ever actually dumb or stupid, he just was never able to learn and grow because his father kept repressing him and holding him back. It looks like he’s actually a pretty quick learner, given he used the correct “capable” here, not to mention he picked up on the bell sound from the chisel and went immediately to the garbage dump to go find the evidence.
Indeed, Miles Edgeworth at his finest to help Sebastian recognizing his place. The unsung hero, indeed.

Maybe Sebastien belongs in the courtroom after all. If you think about it, Phoenix Wright was sort of a whiny, incapable (or is it inculpable?) kid when he was younger and look how he turned out.

I can imagine a storyline for AAI3 with Sebastian as the main character, while Edgeworth continues to mentor him much like Mia did with Phoenix. Maybe even have a case where Sebastian has to confront his father again for whatever reason, and later (probably in the final case) Edgeworth is kidnapped and Sebastian has to lead the investigation/rescue mission on his own, thus showcasing how much more competent Sebastian would have become by then in his own right.
That's just one possible scenario off the top of my head, but yeah, Sebastian definitely has a lot of potential to grow and develop even more in future games!
i totally thought sebastian was the most annoying kid ever... but he's all grown up now and he's slowly becoming one of 'the best' characters! (haha, pardon that pun) so many mysteries yet to solve though....

Favorite part of the game. A great revival, character redemption out the wazoo, and the final showdown against the evilest villain in the entire Ace Attorney series (yes, I consider Blaise more evil than the mastermind behind the events).
He is the evilest because he is actually the reason this entire game exists if you really think about it .
I have to disagree. The reason he became the mastermind is Blaise. Despite dirty method, he still ended up punishing three villains. He had a reasonable motive for Knightley. His life was pretty tragic. He is a saint compared to Dahlia.
LegendofHalo they're about the same amount of evil . But my point is the game and a ton of character beings wouldn't have existed if it weren't for Blaise.
Brianna M Not sure if this particular fan translation conveyed it, but the one I first saw heavily implied that the people that Blaise said "disappeared" were people he killed or had killed (including the former chief detective and his own wife, practically saying it to Sebastian's face). Makes Dahlia's murders look more like a product of teenage temper tantrum, in my opinion. Especially how she basically killed because she screwed up her original plans (Mia did pretty much call her a loser).
That's very true, and if it weren't for Blaise, in some strange sense, Edgeworth would have never became a prosecutor, never met Kay, and everything else that happened wouldn't have happened lol.

36:23- Also FINALLY! The Novice kid finally gathers up the courage, and actual thinking to become someone worth while to be a prosecutor! Felt real sorry for him after he was gagged and captured, and felt bad when he was crying his head off afterwards, but it finally does feel like someone who will do something worth while in court. Just don't try and outperform Edgeworth again and you'll be fine.

Never In my life have I had an originally annoying character turn into one of my favourites SO FAST. I completely understand him now.
Him flinching when his father came close. It kinda sent a little chill down my spine just seeing it. Admiring your father, wanting his approval, but being terrified of him at the same time. Its clear they never had the best relationship just with that scene alone.
Listen, it might seem like kind of a stretch and a bit angsty, but that entire time Sebastian came back, we were given moments that showed signs that Sebastian was dealing with physical and verbal abuse from his father.
All his life, he looked up to his father and admired his work. He wanted to be the best he could to gain his approval. But growing up verbally and physically abused by your own dad despite everything, it must feel so terrible knowing how hated you are in his eyes.
Imagine the courage it took to enter that courtroom and face your dad head on. That is admirable.
Also the dynamic he has with Edgeworth. You can definitely see the father-son/mentor-mentee duo.
I wish they explored his character more after this. I just really want some more character growth :,)

I never despised Sebastian, he was just an intentionally annoying comic relief character for most of the game, and honestly I was sympathetic towards how pitiful he was.

Oh my god I love Edgeworth being a proper co-counsel to Sebastian. Having them alternate presentations is just so damn heartwarming. I love this case.
I love how Edgeworth had to squeeze the truth out of Courtney for what felt like hours, while Ray only needed a little hint to get a grasp on the whole hostage situation. This man is much more intelligent than others give him credit for.

@@williamberends7580Gregory is dead, Manfred is in jail and is either dead or disowned by his own daughter, Dover is dead, Gustavia is in jail, John's dad is dead, Lang's dad died in dishonor, Kay's dad is dead, Blaise is now in jail... and that's just Investigations, someone in the main series lost two dads! Basically if you are a parent to a main or main-ish character and your name isn't Phoenix Wright, you will die or suffer a fate worse than death (because that's basically what jail is in this world)

After being tormented for a long ass time, Gumshoe FINALLY gets the respect he deserves, not to mention he's extremely intelligent when working alone.
In ace attorney Trials and tribulations
He was really usefull in the 3rd case
Without gumshoe nothing good would've ever happened. In the first game je arrests a gang leader in front of her whole damn gang. He also suggests using the metal detector among other things which actually double solved the case. In the second game he is the one who forces the villan of the circus case to hide the weapon. He is also the one who realized there was some sort of electronic equipment in the last case and actually found it using a handmade detector. That device saved mayas life. In the third game his main role is again defending u against tiger and the chef. Then in the last case he is the one who finds the murder weapon by bringing out a metal detector. Gumshoe is too important to forget. At the end the anime literally uses cancel culture and credits everything gumshoe did to either Edgeworth or makes hum look incompetent. Gumshoe is better at investigating especially in forensics and creativity but he just can't draw his own conclusions from them. But he still knows where to look and sometimes that's invaluable.

Man, I wish this series continued and had Debest become protege to Edgeworth like Appollo was to Wright. Doesn't even need to be a passing of the torch just have them both demonstrate how prosecutors use deduction and reasoning to solve a case. It would be so cool to see Sebastion grow from his experience in this game and Edgeworth takes on a mentor role in addition to being a prosecutor, not to mention it could demonstrate how he'd imagine a good mentor would lead compared to his own former mentor.

IMO, I used to hate Justine for standing on Blaise's side. But since I have seen that she is not working together with Blaise anymore, I totally like her as a judge beside the one that resides the majority of the Ace Attorney cases.

I hope in AA7 the main prosecutor is Sebastian, who managed to truly become "The Best" through hard work and finding self confidence, and that he is one of the hardest prosecutors to crack thanks to his impenetrable logic, he deserves to shine in his own light
Rewatching this I have caught all the details, most importantly Franziska, the one who had whipped him for his utter incompetence, essentially saying "I believe in you" and letting him prosecute at his pace, marking the definite start of his growth as well as a key part of hers, UGH this game is SO GOOD
I'm honestly impressed he could find a scrap of newspaper proving Blaise concealed evidence but he couldn't find the knife and chisel. I'd imagine those are easier to find.
