It works somewhat like a Vibro-blade in handling, but had a horrible downside. Too much force energy could cause a horrible discharge that kill anyone nearby, near fatally wounding the weilder.

I was hoping to hear about Corran Horn's Saber. If I remember correctly, his was built from a flight control stick with 2 crystals. on green the other yellow. it had a mechanism in which if he twisted the hilt it would changer the blade from green to yellow and extend, although it would be slimmer. He used it very successfully a few times, most notably against the Yuu'zhan Vong.

congratulations you can still call yourselves true Star Wars fans I have met so many people that say they are Star Wars fans and then say that they liked Episode VII which is impossible since Star Wars Lore which you appreciate if you are a fan and Episode VII are completely incompatible.
EU is not canon. You can keep your own head canon or whatever, nothing wrong with that, that's the beauty of fantasy really. But disney had to throw it all out. There's plenty of EU stuff that fits perfectly into the new canon, but it's too much work to pick through and be selective. And to ME, anything that has been written that doesn't directly contradict stuff coming out in the movies, clone wars, and rebels is still canon. And its a bit pretentious i might add to say that people who liked episode 7 aren't true Star Wars fans. I've read just about every piece of lore possible, and I had no problems with the new movie. Hell, it was a better MOVIE than probably any of the other ones, save maybe empire strikes back. And lets not forget that a massive chunk of EU stuff is just UNGODLY terrible, so I don't have a problem with losing a bunch of it.
I'd add Corran Horn's double crystal lightsaber, which had two lengths and two colours. He had a more shoto length saber and then he'd extend it to be even longer than a regular lighsaber.
The spinning isn't supposed to be useful in combat, it's an intimidation tactic, and fear weakens a Jedi's power. As for the helicopter thing, that's just straight up stupid.

My theory during the episode was it was only because of the planet's gravity and the fact Malachor V is a hotspot of Force Energy. It's possible the blades just served as a focus for a force technique that wouldn't' work on most other planets.

I've always been a fan of Gantoris' lightsaber in the Jedi Academy Trilogy. He used three crystals in its construction under the guidance of Exar Kun, and with the flick of a switch he could extend it to practically spear-length, which came in quite handy (and made for a shocking reveal) during a duel with Luke.
Saber "blades" are merely contained jets of energy converted through their crystals... Your "scythe" would be more like a warpick. A "blade" with a cuve and scythe-like shape would be impossible.
Great video, some really interesting hilts :-) Roblio Darte has a variation of cross guard lightsaber (1 main blue blade, 1 smaller blade angled at a 45 degree angle - I think (he was in the Republic Comic series covering the clone wars era) Darth Malgus' lightsaber Tyvokka's wooden curved hilt lightsaber (basically Dooku and Gungi's lightsaber combined) Kas'im's detachable/paired double-bladed lightsaber Oppo Rancisis I think was going to have a unique curved hilt lightsaber before TCW got cancelled

Actually the 'lightwhips' that were shown using the footage from Clone Wars weren't lightwhips. Those were electro-whips that actually had physical metal whips, which were electrically charged in order to stun or inflict pain on insubordinate or escaping slaves. However other than the minor footage flub, all the information about them was indeed correct :)
i honestly think ahsoka's rebels sabers are pretty cool. i mean white blades curved hilts one standard and one shorto. plus the hilts are oval and not round. bassend of Japanese style swords

Woah don't mislead people...the old republic is not officially canon. It lives in more of a grey shaded area than anything because it hasn't been discredited by Disney it technically hasn't been truly acknowledge either. Which I am fine with it being in this little grey shaded area because Disney doesn't want to touch it unless is interferes with the Skywalker Era of the universe. But just to clarify it is NOT officially canon.

Honorable mention: Mace Windu’s lightsaber for being the first purple light saber seen in any Star Wars creation, and it was wielded by the only black Jedi Master. (If there’s anymore black Jedi Masters out there my bad lol). The most unique trait (in my opinion) also is the fact that the Crystals that powered his lightsaber were extremely rare Hurrikaine Crystals found only on the planet Hurikane. The crystals he received from Hurikane were a gift from one of the indigenous beings that lived there, after one fell into a canyon while chasing Mace away due to a meeting gone bad. The being had broken into pieces, and Mace ultimately healed the being, putting it back together piece by piece. These native beings were actually made of what we know as Hurrikaine Crystals so as a thank you, the being ended up giving Windu a few crystals from its own body. Thus allowing Mace to create his lightsaber out of them. The other fact I find just as unique is that to get the purple coloration of the lightsaber, one must be able to use the light AND dark side of the force. Which is one of the reasons why Mace was such a formidable opponent when it came to combat. His knowledge of the force and ability to use the dark side made him more dangerous to foes, given that he didn’t limit himself to only one side of the force, meaning those who were used to fighting Jedi who didn’t use dark side abilities would often be surprised when Mace would use the dark side against them. Being able to wield a purple light saber represents a being who has immense discipline and control over their mind. Definitely a really cool light saber and would be my first choice if I were able to choose one. All that being said, I wonder if same logic applies to orange bladed light sabers which would be a mixture of red and yellow. Now I would like to see a character wield both a purple and orange light saber, or even a double bladed saber with purple blade and an orange blade. Man that would be pretty epic. S pure symbol of a balance within the force.

It's not heat it's light from a special kind of crystal so I don't think lightsaber light has temperature

congratulations you can still call yourselves true Star Wars fans I have met so many people that say they are Star Wars fans and then say that they liked Episode VII which is impossible since Star Wars Lore which you appreciate if you are a fan and Episode VII are completely incompatible.
EU is not canon. You can keep your own head canon or whatever, nothing wrong with that, that's the beauty of fantasy really. But disney had to throw it all out. There's plenty of EU stuff that fits perfectly into the new canon, but it's too much work to pick through and be selective. And to ME, anything that has been written that doesn't directly contradict stuff coming out in the movies, clone wars, and rebels is still canon. And its a bit pretentious i might add to say that people who liked episode 7 aren't true Star Wars fans. I've read just about every piece of lore possible, and I had no problems with the new movie. Hell, it was a better MOVIE than probably any of the other ones, save maybe empire strikes back. And lets not forget that a massive chunk of EU stuff is just UNGODLY terrible, so I don't have a problem with losing a bunch of it.

Its more likely the Inquistors are using move and the spinning blade is a dumbo feather.
My theory during the episode was it was only because of the planet's gravity and the fact Malachor V is a hotspot of Force Energy. It's possible the blades just served as a focus for a force technique that wouldn't' work on most other planets.

I've always been a fan of Gantoris' lightsaber in the Jedi Academy Trilogy. He used three crystals in its construction under the guidance of Exar Kun, and with the flick of a switch he could extend it to practically spear-length, which came in quite handy (and made for a shocking reveal) during a duel with Luke.

Actually the 'lightwhips' that were shown using the footage from Clone Wars weren't lightwhips. Those were electro-whips that actually had physical metal whips, which were electrically charged in order to stun or inflict pain on insubordinate or escaping slaves.
However other than the minor footage flub, all the information about them was indeed correct :)

if you mean the hilt then yes Dooku's hilt does in fact signify a similarity. the white blade though only means she is a jedi outcast, not a jedi nor a sith, or if she was very old ( she is not yet) means she is a non combative Jedi and would reside within the temple advancing her knowledge of the force and training young-lings to become padawans.

Woah don't mislead people...the old republic is not officially canon. It lives in more of a grey shaded area than anything because it hasn't been discredited by Disney it technically hasn't been truly acknowledge either. Which I am fine with it being in this little grey shaded area because Disney doesn't want to touch it unless is interferes with the Skywalker Era of the universe. But just to clarify it is NOT officially canon.

The original cast's kind of dwindling a little now, only Chewy's left (not including the robots), I haven't seen episode 4 but it seems that everyone but Chewy will die from the original series
Honorable mention: Mace Windu’s lightsaber for being the first purple light saber seen in any Star Wars creation, and it was wielded by the only black Jedi Master. (If there’s anymore black Jedi Masters out there my bad lol). The most unique trait (in my opinion) also is the fact that the Crystals that powered his lightsaber were extremely rare Hurrikaine Crystals found only on the planet Hurikane. The crystals he received from Hurikane were a gift from one of the indigenous beings that lived there, after one fell into a canyon while chasing Mace away due to a meeting gone bad. The being had broken into pieces, and Mace ultimately healed the being, putting it back together piece by piece. These native beings were actually made of what we know as Hurrikaine Crystals so as a thank you, the being ended up giving Windu a few crystals from its own body. Thus allowing Mace to create his lightsaber out of them.
The other fact I find just as unique is that to get the purple coloration of the lightsaber, one must be able to use the light AND dark side of the force. Which is one of the reasons why Mace was such a formidable opponent when it came to combat. His knowledge of the force and ability to use the dark side made him more dangerous to foes, given that he didn’t limit himself to only one side of the force, meaning those who were used to fighting Jedi who didn’t use dark side abilities would often be surprised when Mace would use the dark side against them. Being able to wield a purple light saber represents a being who has immense discipline and control over their mind. Definitely a really cool light saber and would be my first choice if I were able to choose one.
All that being said, I wonder if same logic applies to orange bladed light sabers which would be a mixture of red and yellow. Now I would like to see a character wield both a purple and orange light saber, or even a double bladed saber with purple blade and an orange blade. Man that would be pretty epic. S pure symbol of a balance within the force.
