The Sith rule of two, was at best, only a partial success. Yes, they broke the Jedi order but after 1000 years in hiding meticulously building their power base, which culminated in a new Sith Galactic Empire, it fell apart after 20 years. Ultimately the Sith rule of two can only be considered a disappointment
Yup, the galactic empire was doomed from the start. You need more sith to keep power over such a vast enpire than just two sith. It's why I love the old republic era. You have so many jedi and sith, leading to good sith and evil jedi. It's a well of potential for numerous stories

Count Dooku’s a man of Royalty on his homeworld of Serenno. He chose to maintain his title out of honor for his lineage and purposely addressed himself as “Count”. So everyone did as well. When he became a Jedi however, he’d be addressed as Master Dooku. After that, back to just “Count”.
Ventress and Voss is my favorite story of these, such a sad ending. Hit me right in the feels. I need to get that book asap, still have yet to give it a full read. I really wish they would have made the rest of clone wars season 7 and season 8. Ventress and Voss were two of my favorite characters. I really love that episode were Voss and Kenobi are hunting Ziro The Hunt. Voss jumps out of the gunship in front of obiwan and hits him with the "that's just like, your opinion Man." quote from The Big Labowski. ❤️🖤💚

In a weird way one could argue Maul is Rey's uncle. Palpatine isn't his father, but he did raise him since a very young child and groom his as his apprentice. A lot of Maul's fear of him is that of an abused child
They should do a contest asking fans to develop a sith lord in the line of bane, as well as do a backstory, etc, and choose 50 winners and make these Sith canon. You can do the same with ancient Jedi. That way the fans can actually be a part of the fandom.

He “downsized” the Sith to try to correct that error. That’s the main reason why he did it in addition being a major power grab for himself.
Dooku lines had a lot of potential were he to have actually managed to ditch Sidious at some point. He was very much a reformer (in this as in his politics) and seemed interested in the idea of recruiting multiple acolytes and creating what would've essentially been a replacement order for the both the Jedi and the Sith, devoid of many of the flaws of each (less insufferable Jedi rules and restrictions but without the rule of two or rage-junkie habits of the Sith)

I love this! The Disney canon Sith lore is always overshadowed by legends lore tbh. Also what I never understood is how the galactic republic allowed the sith to exist🤣😭. They never seem to be up to any good so it's strange to me how it would exist for so long in a galaxy of "law and justice"
The Galactic Republic simply didn't know they still existed after the battle of Ruusan. The Jedi spearheaded the Ruusan Reformation, which was not only a reform of the Jedi Order, but of the Republic as well. The Republic effectively outlawed the existence of military forces, leaving only planetary police forces, a republic police fleet for dealing with isolated smugglers and pirates, and the Jedi as peacekeepers whose job it was to take care of any diplomatic or political crisis before it boiled over into something that would require a military. And during this reformation, the Jedi ensured the reforming Republic didn't write any specific laws against the Sith because they believed the Sith were dead and didn't want anyone to find out about them and rebuilding a Sith organisation from artifacts and other lost knowledge. The underhanded strategy and the politics involved though, were something that very much goes against the Jedi Code (specifically, "There is no ignorance, there is Knowledge"), and eventually ended up biting the Jedi Order in the ass because it let the surviving Sith remain under the radar because the whole galaxy basically forgot about the Sith, and even the Jedi themselves were completely unprepared for the possibility of the return of the Sith when it actually happened.

After watching Tales of the Jedi I realise how Palpy constantly broke the Rule of Two. First. He was Plagueis' apprentice but at the same time too Maul AND Dooku as his apprentice. Then Maul returned and took Savage as his apprentice but Palpatine just tortured him rather than killing him as is the way of the Sith. Allowing Maul to keep popping up over and over. Dooku was also allowed to have his own apprentice who went rogue and also kept popping up. Then along comes Anakin, who Palpy then uses to train a small army of Inquisitors. The apprentice is supposed to use the master's knowledge to defeat them and thus get more and more powerful, Palpatine went through three apprentices (two of which while he was still an apprentice himself). Both these apprentices had an apprentice of their own and they all went rogue. Finally, Anakin trained multiple inquisitors at once.
Technically Palpatine taking on more than one apprentice doesn't break the Rule of Two. The apprentice has to be strong, smart or lucky enough to kill the master, the master isn't supposed to let them win. If the master kills the apprentice they're supposed to trained a new one. The problem with Palpatine is that he took on apprentices he never intended to have a chance of replacing him until Vader.

Granting maul the darth title while still being an apprentice himself goes against the rule of two since only the master has the authority to do so, which plagueis very mich did not agree to. Just like tenebrous training Darth venamis as a backup in case plagueis never challenged him.

actually, the disrespect for the rule of two started with Darth Tenebrous and his secret apprentice that he had behind Plagueis’ back, Darth Venamis. Unfortunately he’s only mentioned in the Plagueis audiobook as far as I know.

Yoda already found out about Darth Bane. That's why we see him greet and state who he is when he visits Korriban. I'm assuming that some information gets leaked on the Dark Lord's after they die.
In the darth plageuis novel, if I remember correctly, it's mentioned that between bane and plageuis there was actually a sith that defected to the jedi and told them a bunch of shit, the sith managed to survive however as their apprentice carried on sithing.
My theory is that Lucas always intended the rule of two to have been a thing forever. The Rule of Two wasn’t a thing invented by Bane until the EU books. So using that logic Yoda would know that there were always only two Sith

the most striking difference between Jedi and Sith is the nature of the relationship between the Master and apprentice. Jedi Masters usually sacrifice themselves for the sake of their Padawans. However, a Sith Lord wouldn't do that because if they need help, it only means they are too weak to be Sith, I guess. That's one of the most critical facets of the Dark Side...and both parties agreed upon this challenge while fighting side by side. Still, what Palpatine did to his master looks a bit of a low move, even in the Sith mindset.
I don’t think Ezra would honestly count as a Sith. By the time he met Maul, I don’t think Maul considered himself a Sith anymore or followed its doctrines. He was a dark side user,but not a Sith. Sort of like the witches of dathomir or knights of rin. Ezra would have been a student of that, if Maul even had a consideration of what he was anymore. Also the Rule of two seems like a failure, even during the era of of rule of rule there was still infighting and the Sith were always one catastrophic accident from going extinct. During the reconstituted Sith Empire they seemed far more resilient, despite infighting between all of the lords

Wait a minute, we do know who Zannah’s apprentice was - Darth Cognus. She was a major secondary character in Dynasty of Evil. Yeah we basically know nothing about her, but we know Zannah took her on.
Bane isn’t from Moraband. He’s from a shithole mining moon/planet on the outer rim. He eventually joined the Sith Army and was outed as a force sensitive while leading a squad/platoon. Darth Zannah was also a padawan and on Ruusan when the battle took place. She was orphaned there when her drop ship was damaged and she separated from her master.
Ah yes if the Sith wouldn’t infight they could beat the Jedi plus the rule of two honestly doesn’t make sense to me if the Sith would only just work together not kill each other off when the master told their apprentice all his secrets that’s why the Sith yes are powerful but because of infighting and backstabbing will always unfortunately lose but such is the way of the Sith.
The Sith's flaws are a representation of the flawed nature of the dark side of the force. The Sith (pre- Darth Bane) tried to unite like the Jedi and become one. This doesn't work with the dark side because the dark side makes people using it to desire even more, not sharing it. Backstabbing, jealousy, infighting, ect is just a by product of Sith using the dark side in the wrong way. Darth Bane does a mass reset on the Sith Order and finds a way for the Sith to truly be powerful without the flaws of the previous generations. They wait in the shadows and change the galaxy slowly. The Rule of Two is almost perfect. They win because of hundreds of years of the Rule of Two Sith manipulating the galaxy over time to their whims and making the Jedi Order unbeknownst to them serve the Sith imperative.... all while in the shadows. It's brilliant!! This new Dyad changes the history of the Sith and the way the Force operates, especially with dark side.
Order of Sith Lords with the Rule of two had the purpose of strengthening the Sith and Weaken the Jedi. Both of its goal was completed, so the rule can bend and change a little to further strengthen the Sith power base. But Sidious can be considered the one who truly broke the rule or two. Darth Plagueis still not truly complete his teaching on Sidious and the latter actual use underhand hand mean to slay his master which completely broke the rule of Darth Bane.
I wonder, could Ry Nymbis have been Tenebrous' master in canon? In Legends, Tenebrous' master was a male Twi'lek, and that's pretty much all we know about him. Would be a cool way to connect the two. Maybe while Nymbis was still the apprentice to Caldoth, he was secretly training Tenebrous on the side as well in preperation to take down Caldoth. After that, Caldoth either ended up taking Tenebrous as his new apprentice, or Tenebrous found Nymbis and freed him from his petrification, after which they took down Caldoth together. I'm sure you could tweak the story a bit to make it fit.
When you read the Darth bane books at the end of the second one when he's doing his apprentice it doesn't come off like he dies or gets defeated it comes off as if he transfers he does the essence transfer cuz he's hurt and then all of a sudden he saying definitely didn't seem like he was taken out it quite a bit of doubt he was so powerful and he perfected how to do it and well
He does. Zannah at the end of the book proclaims that Bane is dead and she is all that remains. But it was hinted that a portion of his spirit did manage to leave a shadow on her, as she suddenly became inflicted with the same uncontrollable left hand twitch that bane had after he came out of the Orbalisk Armor. I have a Playlist with the Audiobooks on them for work, it's my favorite set to listen to lol
actually we now know who Snoke is. in one newer comics, i forgot the name, we seen at the last episode on the Exegol cloning machine which few of the have been creating Smokes. From hand of Luke Skywalker.

Then Maul returned and took Savage as his apprentice but Palpatine just tortured him rather than killing him as is the way of the Sith. Allowing Maul to keep popping up over and over. Dooku was also allowed to have his own apprentice who went rogue and also kept popping up.
Then along comes Anakin, who Palpy then uses to train a small army of Inquisitors.
The apprentice is supposed to use the master's knowledge to defeat them and thus get more and more powerful, Palpatine went through three apprentices (two of which while he was still an apprentice himself). Both these apprentices had an apprentice of their own and they all went rogue. Finally, Anakin trained multiple inquisitors at once.
Technically Palpatine taking on more than one apprentice doesn't break the Rule of Two. The apprentice has to be strong, smart or lucky enough to kill the master, the master isn't supposed to let them win. If the master kills the apprentice they're supposed to trained a new one. The problem with Palpatine is that he took on apprentices he never intended to have a chance of replacing him until Vader.

Granting maul the darth title while still being an apprentice himself goes against the rule of two since only the master has the authority to do so, which plagueis very mich did not agree to. Just like tenebrous training Darth venamis as a backup in case plagueis never challenged him.

actually, the disrespect for the rule of two started with Darth Tenebrous and his secret apprentice that he had behind Plagueis’ back, Darth Venamis. Unfortunately he’s only mentioned in the Plagueis audiobook as far as I know.

Idk if Disney cannon has made the scene not made sense but in Legends and as common sense it's not that they knew about Rule of Two but knowing how well trained Maul was someone had to have trained him but he wasn't powerful enough to think he was the Master
I could swear I remember reading somewhere that Yoda had read about some sith text that mentioned the rule of two but assumed they died out.
Yoda already found out about Darth Bane. That's why we see him greet and state who he is when he visits Korriban. I'm assuming that some information gets leaked on the Dark Lord's after they die.
In the darth plageuis novel, if I remember correctly, it's mentioned that between bane and plageuis there was actually a sith that defected to the jedi and told them a bunch of shit, the sith managed to survive however as their apprentice carried on sithing.
My theory is that Lucas always intended the rule of two to have been a thing forever. The Rule of Two wasn’t a thing invented by Bane until the EU books. So using that logic Yoda would know that there were always only two Sith

the most striking difference between Jedi and Sith is the nature of the relationship between the Master and apprentice. Jedi Masters usually sacrifice themselves for the sake of their Padawans. However, a Sith Lord wouldn't do that because if they need help, it only means they are too weak to be Sith, I guess. That's one of the most critical facets of the Dark Side...and both parties agreed upon this challenge while fighting side by side. Still, what Palpatine did to his master looks a bit of a low move, even in the Sith mindset.
I don’t think Ezra would honestly count as a Sith. By the time he met Maul, I don’t think Maul considered himself a Sith anymore or followed its doctrines. He was a dark side user,but not a Sith. Sort of like the witches of dathomir or knights of rin. Ezra would have been a student of that, if Maul even had a consideration of what he was anymore.
Also the Rule of two seems like a failure, even during the era of of rule of rule there was still infighting and the Sith were always one catastrophic accident from going extinct. During the reconstituted Sith Empire they seemed far more resilient, despite infighting between all of the lords

Bane isn’t from Moraband. He’s from a shithole mining moon/planet on the outer rim. He eventually joined the Sith Army and was outed as a force sensitive while leading a squad/platoon. Darth Zannah was also a padawan and on Ruusan when the battle took place. She was orphaned there when her drop ship was damaged and she separated from her master.

Ah yes if the Sith wouldn’t infight they could beat the Jedi plus the rule of two honestly doesn’t make sense to me if the Sith would only just work together not kill each other off when the master told their apprentice all his secrets that’s why the Sith yes are powerful but because of infighting and backstabbing will always unfortunately lose but such is the way of the Sith.
The Sith's flaws are a representation of the flawed nature of the dark side of the force. The Sith (pre- Darth Bane) tried to unite like the Jedi and become one. This doesn't work with the dark side because the dark side makes people using it to desire even more, not sharing it. Backstabbing, jealousy, infighting, ect is just a by product of Sith using the dark side in the wrong way. Darth Bane does a mass reset on the Sith Order and finds a way for the Sith to truly be powerful without the flaws of the previous generations. They wait in the shadows and change the galaxy slowly. The Rule of Two is almost perfect. They win because of hundreds of years of the Rule of Two Sith manipulating the galaxy over time to their whims and making the Jedi Order unbeknownst to them serve the Sith imperative.... all while in the shadows. It's brilliant!! This new Dyad changes the history of the Sith and the way the Force operates, especially with dark side.

Order of Sith Lords with the Rule of two had the purpose of strengthening the Sith and Weaken the Jedi.
Both of its goal was completed, so the rule can bend and change a little to further strengthen the Sith power base.
But Sidious can be considered the one who truly broke the rule or two.
Darth Plagueis still not truly complete his teaching on Sidious and the latter actual use underhand hand mean to slay his master which completely broke the rule of Darth Bane.
Out of curiosity, is there a legends Sith tree? I would love to see it.
I wonder, could Ry Nymbis have been Tenebrous' master in canon? In Legends, Tenebrous' master was a male Twi'lek, and that's pretty much all we know about him. Would be a cool way to connect the two. Maybe while Nymbis was still the apprentice to Caldoth, he was secretly training Tenebrous on the side as well in preperation to take down Caldoth. After that, Caldoth either ended up taking Tenebrous as his new apprentice, or Tenebrous found Nymbis and freed him from his petrification, after which they took down Caldoth together. I'm sure you could tweak the story a bit to make it fit.

When you read the Darth bane books at the end of the second one when he's doing his apprentice it doesn't come off like he dies or gets defeated it comes off as if he transfers he does the essence transfer cuz he's hurt and then all of a sudden he saying definitely didn't seem like he was taken out it quite a bit of doubt he was so powerful and he perfected how to do it and well
He does. Zannah at the end of the book proclaims that Bane is dead and she is all that remains. But it was hinted that a portion of his spirit did manage to leave a shadow on her, as she suddenly became inflicted with the same uncontrollable left hand twitch that bane had after he came out of the Orbalisk Armor. I have a Playlist with the Audiobooks on them for work, it's my favorite set to listen to lol
