This is an amazing resource for anyone who wants to remix a song. The deconstructions alone were good before, but this gives us a visual representation of notes and rhythms (other than drums). No more having to slow down the song and listen closely for what notes are playing.
The idea of the piano reel really makes this the greatest deconstruction piece. It's so incredibly useful I hope that all future decomps include this.
HARD agree. I could definitely see this being easier to make remixes, and replay the songs on piano, which is all the more reason why we should get more of these, on top of them sounding kind of nice on their own despite being the original song but broken down (Ice Cap Act 2 comes to mind).

Now, this is a take on music deconstructions I certainly was not expecting. I like this idea!
After listening to the prototype version, there's a low bass note on the second loop of the intro that isn't here in the final.

Do you plan to do this with other songs as well? As already mentioned in other comments, this could be a great resource for remixing.
Especially after I had to painstakingly figure out the bass for Emerald Hill Zone so I could make an 8-bit remix of that. In the end, I got the line wrong, but except for one error (an A# instead of a B at the very end of the loop) I corrected all of them. That A# doesn't even sound too bad, so I left it in.

I miss this game. It's a shame it's been erased from all memory at Sega.
It's actually not forgotten at all by Sega by any way. Unfortunately, due to a licensing issue with some of the music being made by Pop legend, Michael Jackson, and keyboardist, Brad Bauxer. Sega were scared to rerelease the game in general. Fun fact, in the PC version (yes back in the 90's Sega made a PC version of Sonic 3.) some tracks of the game were totally different due to said licensing issue. Fun fun Fact, you can get the game on steam I believe
