  • Jakarta, Indonesia First Impressions - My 1st day in Jakarta
    video of my journey across Indonesia to Jakarta ➡️ • 21 Hours Overnight Fer...
    I finally made it to Jakarta, Indonesia. Let's explore the capital city of Indonesia and get some first impressions. Jakarta has a population of over 10 million people, so I am sure there is a lot to see and explore! Usually when I am in a new city and in a new country I like to visit busy market areas to feel the vibes of the city, speak with some locals and try local food. In today's video we will try to get to know some locals, try Indonesian food and get around the big city of Jakarta. I am super excited to be here!

    In most cases when Indonesians say “Hati-hati”, it actually means “Take care”. However, sometimes it can mean “Be careful” depending on the situation. The direct translation of “Hati-hati” is indeed “Be careful”, but it often means “Take care”. Hope this explanation helps you, Ken

    You officially visit Indonesia when you try jamu, wedang jahe (aka healthy traditional drink)
    Jamu (the one you drink at the end of video) is original and authentic, usually they make it from scratch from some plants like turmeric, etc, boil it, then sell it in a bottle

      5 to 7 are a waste of time. He learned more about Indonesia just going around than he would seeing some sterile houses in Taman Mini. Ancol and Dufan would be boring for a German guy just going around. Shopping malls and food places like PIK are also boring for European tourists. Old Town is good. They like using motorcycle taxis and trying street food more. He started the video with Monas so I don't even know why you mentioned it.

Jamu kunir asem is a healthy drink from turmeric... And the additional drink is jahe with brown sugar/gula jawa... I personally love jamu kunir asem and beras kencur. But there are many more jamu that have a bitter taste, even I can't really stand for those.

    “Bule” originated from the word “Belanda” in bahasa, it means “Dutch”, because long time ago all foreigners in Indonesia was from Netherlands and now is use to call all foreigners. Other word is “orang Barat”, which means “Western people”.

    • @alnasakid
      @alnasakid 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think its originated from “bulai” in bahasa, which means “albinos”. Its because Caucasians have white skin and some Westerners who residing in Indonesia find the word stereotypical and offensive, but many Indonesian prefer to use the word “mister” to call foreigners 😁

    Good evening from all wet Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
    Myself and @undereaten_muffins aren't loving your Indonesian journey. We're always in awe of the way you travel off the big tourist streets and get right in amongst the amazing locals. The lady selling the bags was hilarious 😂
    I'm finding myself smiling throughout your vlogs because I'm enjoying them so much. Thanks for taking us with you 👍🙏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇮🇩

    Wow, what a great start to your Indonesia adventures. It's indeed a wonderful and fun experience at that Pasar/market area. Oh gosh, it's very interesting to see you buying that nice pouch from that jovial vendor 😂😃. Aaah, as always, you with your top notch bargaining skill, managed to get that bracelet at a fair price. Wonderful of you to try those street food, ginger drink (Wedang Jahe) and Indonesian jamu. I love your open- mindedness and how you interact with all those friendly and welcoming locals. Great video with fabulous content....enjoyed watching from start to finish. Good job and thank you very much for sharing this awesome exploration, Ken.
