- Actor & Comedian Paul Lynde (1926-1982) is interviewed by Wes Osborn in July 1971 in Dayton, Ohio. Being one of the Kenley Players in "Plaza Suite",
Paul talks about acting in summer stock theatre and the difficulties of being too identified with his own image. He talks about his role as Uncle Arthur on Bewitched (which is a rare treat) and his surprise of how well he is known for his appearances there. His then future project "The Paul Lynde Show" gets mentioned as well.
One of the very few interviews Lynde gave and a rare opportunity to hear him talk in his "normal", out-of-character voice. Also interesting to hear him talk about Bewitched and get some insights on his perception of his own acting persona.
I found this little gem on Soundboard a while back and wanted to share it. It was a three-part interview, I edited it into one file. Pics include some behind-the-scenes shots.
I do not own any rights, interview & audio credits go to Wes Osborn.
Enjoy!
I've never heard the serious side of Paul, just talking as himself. Cool and refreshing.
I KNOW RIGHT
Thanks. So rare to hear him being himself.
I agree :) Glad you enjoyed it!
❤
Paul Lynde with KISS?! This interview is great. Thanks for sharing it!
in 1976 Paul Lynde did a Halloween Special for TV and KISS were some of his guests on that show.

Wooow love this! So rare to hear him talk out of character, and his surprise of how everyone loves him for being Uncle Arthur on Bewitched, kinda sweet :) Great insights. Thank you so much for sharing!!
Glad you like it!
Love Paul as Uncle Arthur he makes me 🤣
Mr Lynde was born about 20 miles up the road from me. He always made me laugh when i was a kid in the 60s. I didnt understand or know anything about him.
It seems sometimes the most hilarious people are also the saddest.
Robin Williams comes to mind.
great interview and revealing on him as very little on him and the real paul lynde
I remember watching the Paul Lynde show when it first aired on TV. I thought it was a hit and was surprised it only lasted a year or so.
1971... wow a time machine
I was lucky to meet Paul when I was a teenager. Such a kind man to a young fan.
Wow! Lucky! I'm 23 years old and I wish I could have met him! He's one of my Hollywood crushes!

He is also my Hollywood Crush idol as well
@ClaudeRains1889 Cool! He was just a naturally funny man and kind of handsome too! Lol! One of my favorite roles of his is The Hooded Claw! His most underrated role, in my opinion!
Super adorable Paul he is always fun to listen to
Paul could be natural like this. He wasn't an entertainer who had to Always be "on."
Paul Lynde is the best comedian I've ever listened to & has the best lines on the shows he has been on!
Is that his dog Harry Macafee?
Man I wish I could see Paul play a sexy character in the play
I wish I could see him in all sorts of things but make sure he's the sexiest one in the movie/TV show/music video 🤣
