*CORRECTIONS + ADDITIONS* 1. In the FOV chapter I forgot to tick the "curved" box for my monitor in the "Modern FOV Calculator". My actual recommended FOV therefore actually is 100°, not 90° (for AMS2 , the line for Project CARS 1/2 applies). 2. After some more hours of driving, I've gone back to "Default+" as FFB type. My "sweetrange" (depending on the car) is GAIN: 35-40 FX: 30-50 DAMPING: 20-30 Have fun!
Hey Timo, the FFB File you linked in the description, in that part of the video it is actually not dampening, not for that particular rFuktor file, in that file the dampening was set to a fixed value in the text file and Kuku made the dampening slider change the suspension forces instead
I love this update. I was racing the AI at hockenheim in a historic open wheel multi class event. It was bloody awesome and looked so good too! The feel of all that power under my right foot just felt great. I love that they've worked on the sound, especially when being close to a wall etc. has the sound increase whilst it bounces off the object back to you
Thank you very much for this no nonsense and to the point video, it helped me out no end and I'm very grateful, as a returning player to AMS2 I found this incredibly helpful. Great work. By the way I found merging the mods into the core game classes very helpful too, I never knew you could do that. Cheers Timo!! 👍🏼
Hey Timo, good video again. I just got the game and have been watching a lot of your videos from F1. I'm having a blast with the F1 mods. I am a big fan of F1 myself, especially the 80s and 90s. And I have to agree with you 100%, the mods give you a completely different experience. I love it. 👌
Super Video Timo, i also use Mods i Like F1 of the 80 and 90. I have a 6900 xt and have driver timeouts with my amd Card only at ams2 with mods when i install them via the Mod Manager. When i dont use ams 2 Modmanager i dont have driver timeouts also no driver timeouts when i dont use mods.
Do any of you also have problems with the sound in AMS2? In replay, for example, the sound of the vehicle is always very scratchy and sometimes you can also hear short noises onboard.
Hi guys. So basically is it better have high or ultra settings with MSAA medium and Filter at 8, rather than medium settings and MSAA high and Filter at 16? For the FFB go on the Documents AMS2 ffb settings and paste: NAME: Rack_Force (rack (/ arm_force M_max_force_at_rack)) (output rack) (output (* output gain)) (histogram output) Just save the old ones in a Folder if you like. Keep everything at 0 in Game Settings and just set your Gain preference. Same in the Fanatec Settings, all 0 apart of the strenght. It's a game changing!!!
Yes. Either pick the class in game or tweak a Custom AI file with only the drivers you want to race against. The game prioritizes a Custom AI over default/generic data.
Good video, Timo. I'm sure people will find it useful. A quick reminder regarding the FFB: there is an FFB meter at the bottom of the Full Telemetry UI. Reiza, like nearly all the other racing sim developers, does not highlight the presence of this essential software, nor how to interpret it. I'm baffled as to why FFB meters are so discreet, especially when debates rage about the quality of the FFB supplied by the different sims.
I'm confused. Timo. The fov calculator that you used states that AMS is in vertical field of view, is ams2 also in vertical field of view? If I go ams2 to the field of view option and read the help box when you hover over changing a field of view, it states that.... The setting will change how wide your view is or how narrow your view is. That sounds to me like horizontal field of view, not vertical field of view. When I do the measurements in your field of view calculator, I have a single 28-in monitor and I sit about 70 cm from the screen. According to the results on the right hand side of the fov calculator, the number I would enter is 28°. An ams2 I can't enter that number because it's too small. I think ams2 is in horizontal field of view. Any advice you could give me would be amazing.
AMS2 uses Horizontal, also i'm assuming that given the sizes Timo inputs into the screen he's using a ultrawide. If so he should have clicked the curved screen setting and put in the radius to get an (at least) ballpark FOV
I think I can help. The line you have to look at is the one for Project Cars 1/2 (which measures the horizontal aspect). I've entered your values and the calc says that your FOV is 48°. So that should work, at least as a good starting point.
@@miker325 thank you very much for your advice. I was just a bit confused as to why it says AMS is vertical field of view when it's clearly not. Thanks again for your help, I really appreciate it.
@@TimoDick thank you for clarifying that Timo. Using the proper field of view really does make a big difference. Does changing the camera position also change field of view? I find when I use the corrected field of view I'm kind of no longer in the car, I like to try to move the camera back so I feel like I'm in the car. Thanks again for all your help. Timo and I love your channel. 😎😎😎😎😎
@@MegaF1guy As I said in the video, when I am finally in a car ingame, I always check the position of the virtual driver's habd and wheel an make them match with my physical equivalents. That I only do with the seat adjustment features. For that you can either assing keys or go into options-->cockpit configuration.
I wish AMS2 had proper support for UW monitors, the distortion at the edges spoils the image. My calculated FOV is 120 but in AMS2 it looks crap at the edges compared to iRacing etc that allow for correction.
AMS2 has the best driving model, nice graphics and super optimization. The choice of cars and tracks is impressive if you purchase the dlc. So much good stuff. After 1.6 you feel a huge regression with respect to tires. No Flatspot, wear and tear and very slow tire warm up. For races over 25min Ai is broken when it comes to pit exits. Bugs and errors are very common. Ps: Reiza does not like criticism and comments, so he bans on Steam those who criticize. They focus on the new paid content and put the bugs and shortcomings aside. So far, I'm very disappointed with patch 1.6 and Reiza's attitude. I definitely won't buy any more DLC, and when there is an alternative I'm giving up on AMS2
i cant even use it as a g pro as it wont recognise my separate pedals so i use as the g923 in ams2.. the go to gamer muscles video on ams2 ffb and follow the instructions.. ffb feels far better
I'm loving this game now, except for the AI's aggression during qualifying and they brake way too early into corners. I hope Reiza fixes this, other than that, the AI is pulling moves, defending the inside line, moving for overtakes etc. The AI feels more alive than any other sim I've raced in.
FOV depends on screen size (& type of flat vs curved) and the distance between eyes and screen. Example is a 49" curved monitor will typically be 118-120 for AMS/PC2 and other hFOV games.
