- Unboxing my OBDLink MX+ and setting it up for first use on my iPhone with my 2016 Ford Fusion Titanium. The OBDLink MX+ is a great bluetooth ODB2 reader with support for advanced Ford and GM networks. These are MS-CAN and SW-CAN. In this video I unbox the devices and set it up for the first time on my Ford Fusion Titanium showing the connectivity and taking it for an initial drive. Hi rwmeath, this was one of my videos that started off very unpopular but has turned around and gotten better feedback. With the interest now, I am looking at doing some follow up videos with FORScan and torque pro.

Can it reset MY-KEY in my ford explorer 2014 ?

The easiest way to reset my key is if you buy a new key and program it as main key... That way you can erase the My key settings from previous keys previously programmed...

can you leave it connected indefinitely ?
Technically you probably could. Depending on your vehicle it may actually stay powered and may drain your battery. I wouldn’t recommend it.
Was the zero reading on O2 sensor 1 a concern for you?
If you see 0 readings, don't worry, especially if your car is running correctly. The correct reading is usually off a different sensor in the software, sometimes you just have to find it.
Any transmission data like oil temp, oil viscosity?
So I got one $200 NZD + AlfaOBD software $60.00 + Ram 1500 Fob key $200.00 total $460.00 and it doesn't work Once connected it keeps Dropping off No Connection

My Fusion was just prior to having carplay so not sure, but that would be really cool!
I have an android head unit and after downloading the app for OBD2 link I am able to see everything on my 9" Display.
Will this program a key fob for a 2019 ram 1500 classic
The 5th gen rams need a bypass cable for any of the obd readers to work. You will also need alfaobd. I’ve never programmed a key so can’t say 100% it works.

LOL it's actually FORScan, just sounds funny. You can find it at forscan.org/home.html. There is a cost to the software.
Is it possible to reset the mileage counter?
From everything I have seen and read, you cannot reset mileage. I believe it will let you increase mileage. I saw someone post that they tried setting their mileage to all 9’s to try to get it to “roll over” to 0, but that does not work and he could not reduce mileage after that so he was in a pretty bad situation.
Now they need too input a gas gauge
Just depends on the car. I believe those with electronic gas gauges can pull info from obdii

The software is called Forscan. Sounds terrible when you say it out loud. i think they needed to drop the D in Ford so that ford wouldn't give them a hard time. The official web page is forscan.org/home.html. From what i've seen recently, they are a Russian company and due to issues with Russia right now, the banks have cut them off and you cannot buy the full license. if you search the app store for forscan you will find a full version and lite version.

I think you are asking about the firmware on the obdlink mx+. If so, you can do it through the scantool app on your phone. Go to settings, then firmware updates, and then click on check for updates. I need to do this on mine as there have been 8 or 9 updates since I filmed this, and i have not stayed updated.
Does it show trans temperature?
It can show any data that is available through obdii. So depends on car and if there is a sensor that is returning that value to the ECU.
Bro can you change settings of the car?
Easy answer is yes. More complicated is depends on the car, what setting you want to change, and what software you have to use with the OBDLink mx+ to make the change.
@@DadTechTV Thanks for the answer mate, I want to change settings of the car, such us door lightening, keyless entry, some settings on the entertainment screen. Would like to be using the Forscan, the AS or so I can write new values to change settings. My question is if using the phone you get the same experience like on a computer, can you do AS write like you do on the PC ?
@@DadTechTV question you sill have the OBD ? Any issue ? And can the OBD connected all the time ??? Or need to unplug every day ? I need to check my regen on my diesel truck every day
@@watchmanexpert I still have it. I use it to check error codes, but do not leave it in every day. If it’s out of the way and causes no obstruction when driving, you should be able to leave it in, but make sure it powers off when the car powers off otherwise you may put a slow drain on the battery.
Hi. This device is works with motorcycle too?
You can check their website, www.obdlink.com/products/obdlink-mxp/, for more specifics but they only mention cars. Not sure if any motorcycles follow the same protocols as the required OBD2 of cars. Did you shop around on scanners or just pick one .? I was looking at this one or the Blue Driver which is also Bluetooth . Care to share
Hi Jerry. I have been looking at scanners for years now and never bought one. I think the biggest deciding factor is what works best with your current car or your current need, which could just be the best all around scanner. I used to be into vw's and the vag-com (now VCDS) is probably the best option for those cars. Right now I have a Ford and this scanner works great with the forscan software so it was the best choice for me. I previously looked at blue driver which is also a great solution depending on what you want need.

My brother suggested the model you have in your video is how I found your channel.. Did sub thanks. Leaning on the MX but something calls me to the Blue driver. So torn it will delay my purchase.
Check out the FORScan software. That is going to be the software that has the most community support on how to make changes to your F150. If you are just monitoring than either should do.
Is this OBD link max + supported indian car ??
Hi Tana. You can look at the documentation of this device at the link below to see what they officially support with their hardware and software. Engine oil temperature ?
I’ll hAve to check on that one. I never looked for it so not sure if my car has it. Do you also have a Ford Fusion? If the car has the sensor than this will read it

Dose the mx+ scan the hybrid cars also?
It’s based off the type of computer in the car which most are obdii (unless you have a car from the 90’s or older) but then there are some variants. They have a list of specific make and models and what is supported at this link, www.obdlink.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/oem-specific_coverage.pdf. It may work with other obdii cars but these are the ones they have tested.
