Allana's compelling biography of her father is the first full-length, carefully researched account of the life, work and times of Ebrahim Alkazi, one of the giants of twentieth-century theatre and a key promoter of the visual arts movement in India. The session features Allana in conversation with Ranjit Hoskote.
Amal Allana is an acclaimed theatre director with over 60 productions like Nati Binodini and King Lear. She served as Chairperson of the National School of Drama and founded The Dramatic Art and Design Academy (DADA) and Theatre and Television Associates. She has authored The Act of Becoming and received prestigious honours, including the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.
Ranjit Hoskote’s collections of poetry include Vanishing Acts, Central Time,
Jonahwhale, Hunchprose and Icelight. His acclaimed translation of a 14th -century Kashmiri mystic’s work has appeared as I, Lalla: The Poems of Lal Ded. A Fellow of the International Writing Program, University of Iowa, Hoskote has been honoured with numerous awards, including the Sahitya Akademi Golden Jubilee Award and the JLF-Mahakavi Kanhaiya Lal Sethia Award.
