  • GOODWILL FOR A CHANGE! | FINDING VINTAGE THRIFT & ANTIQUE DEALS
So wonderful to be where the Goodwills are good thrifting! I finally get to take you to a great Goodwill, where decades of antique and vintage deals have come to me and my friends...and another Goodwill where once I was strictly a donor.
I get an empty van to shop with in my hometown, a ferry ride away from the big city of Seattle and its flagship Goodwill store, home of the Evergreen district headquarters. It's been a mainstay for thrifters since my childhood! The collectibles department is the natural first stop, we see both real and imagined antiques and vintage, and buy a few good surprises we can easily flip.
Beyond the obvious, the main portion of the store has stacks of books, linens lighting and housewares where we get a good lamp for little, a desk we can use to display at our show this weekend and a fairy lamp that takes me back!
Then it's down the road to a suburban Goodwill, where we shop instead of donate for the first time ever. The shade for the lamp, some really good Pottery Craft and more fun finds we can quickly turn come at thrift store prices!
I dedicate this video to my midwestern friends living in the Goodwill desert.
Here's some more of what we see at the Goodwills:
Metlox Blue Provincial, costume jewelry, 1970s lamps, fused glass, opalescent moonstone glass, Winfield casserole, Hollie Hobbie plate, Johnson Bros. turkey platter, Shawnee planter, Paymaster check writer, Alaska Clay vessels, monkey pod leaf trays, silver overlay glass, Federal Glass mixing bowl, Dugan Argonaut bowl, Hedi Schoop figures, Rueven Glass, Anri wood figure, MarCrest pitcher, Bambi tile, Royal Doulton Flambe vase, Murano bowl, Disney Mickey/Minnie turnabout cookie jar, Czechoslovakian china, 1970s flower power clock, copper car music box, Pfaltzgraff Villager casserole, Gilner elf, Bubble sherbet stems, McCoy wishing well cookie jar, Pottery Craft Botanica, art nouveau pitcher, Dutch canister set, Johnson Friendly Village ware, Fraunfelter teapot, cobalt ABC plate, etc.

A lot of us remember those metal desks. If I had a more industrial home I think it would make a great end table for a sofa and a great place to store magazines. Nice video as always. I noted and appreciated your kind comments about our new immigrants working in the USA. Unless you have a Native American heritage in your background, all of us came here from people who came here for a better life. And I am glad they did

I lived in Edmonds 3rd grade through 7th grade. My older Sister lived on Whidbey Island for 5 years during the 1970's when the economy was not so good. She just sold her home and moved to Camano Island, because it's the only Island you dont have to take a Ferry. I can hardly wait until I go visit her. I love all of Puget Sound. Great memories. Our parents took us all over it fishing & camping back in the good ol days!

    • @TheAntiqueNomad

It was so nice to see you in Seattle. I shop at that Goodwill often. And thank you for refraining from the negative Goodwill comments that seem so common on other youtubers' channels. The prices in Seattle are high, but I always find lots of stuff worth selling at all the regional Goodwill stores. They catch a lot of good stuff... but they can't know everything. You just have to keep your knowledge base updated and branch out by looking up interesting stuff.

Hey George! That Dugan Nautilus piece is a nice one. I liked those ship[s behind the counter. One looked like a Chinese junk mads from horn. That Royal Albert "Old Country Roses" piece would've been a great piece to get, if it hadn't been chipped. That is probably one of the most enduring patterns around. I liked that Victorian stork platter. That Czech cannister set was really nice...I would prefer the words in Czech, though. Those were actually really good Goodwill stores. There doesn't seem to be many of those still around. Thanks for taking us with you!!!

Cool! End of September we stayed in Port Townsend at the Palace Hotel~3rd floor, room was like a NY apartment with spiral stairs up to a loft sleeping area! Took the ferry to Coupeville? Also, if you ever get the chance to eat at Calico Cupboard do so. Awesome food. We ate at the Anacortes location. One in Mt Vernon and La Conner as well. We love Washington!! 💛

So, what's the Hardy Boys up to tonight?
I would have taken the hammered drum table, spray painted it with copper and washed it with a green wash glaze. Add a glass top and I could see it being about 300 to 350.

    • @TheAntiqueNomad

Hi George what advice would you give a reseller moving to Seattle who never has been there regarding sourcing?

    • @TheAntiqueNomad
      @TheAntiqueNomad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi! Cool deal, Seattle's a great town. Here's some tips:
      - Flea markets all closed when real estate prices rose. You'll have to look to estate sales, antique malls and develop private sources of merchandise.
      - Antique shows are just starting up again. Spokane next April is the next show I know of, Packwood Flea Market is every Memorial and Labor Day.
      - Find other sources! Check Craigslist, shop consignment stores, hang out on Facebook Marketplace, even place "Wanted to Buy' ads in appropriate forums.

George I have that clock and in Tulsa I don't even have it advertised or on any sites right now actually I was getting ready to donate it and I'll be happy to mail it to you if you can have it I would love to see it displayed on I don't know if you know that I'm crippled I have been for about a year and a half and so my selling days have come to a halt for a while I hope I hope not forever but I hate to see these things going to people that don't really know their value and the love I have for them. You think about it I have it if you want it same clock exactly the only thing that does have is on the back where you put the nail in the hole it's a little wider than it should be because I dropped it the front looks great and I'll look it over real good to make sure it's worth you having but it's it's free no problem if you'll help me with shipping that's all I ask it it can't be very much it's very lightweight
