  • This is going to be a long one because there's very little editing. This is a non-sped-up portrait painting video. Hope you enjoy it!

Beautifully done! You made me laugh when you said you are not a fast painter, so it will take an hour or so. That is incredibly fast 👏🙆‍♀️

Hi, Eric. Really enjoyed the entire process. It is very instructive to see the entirety of your decision making process while drawing and painting. As someone who has been painting for about 3 years (and consider myself a beginner), I find this format more useful in many ways. In particular, I am able to think about what I would do next in the painting and then see how you did it. As always, very helpful!

I love your thoughts about the drawing process, just what I do. Get a decent drawing, or not, and then small details have my eyes looking flat, or one is higher than another.

I, absolutely, love your portrait videos. You describe your process so well. The one thing I can’t get over is that you don’t have paper over the portrait when adding spray droplets. I would have them all over me and the room. I will have to practice that. I look forward to more. 🇨🇦

😮 I enjoy watching your drawing process. I just drew my 3yr old granddaughter I'm afraid I had to erase often. After I painted the neck was too dark and she looked too old. So much to learn.

It's actually my first time to watch an artist do a portrait from start to the end without missing details. You demonstrated a whole lot of valuable techniques especially the reasons/thoughts behind every step. I am impressed by your great confidence in painting. I like the part that you revisited the second day and to help us understand how a little adjustment can make big impact to the finished result. Really appreciate you take time to share your experience and educate learners like me.

Thank you for taking the time to walk us through, you have been very helpful in sharing your techniques and simplifying each stage of the painting. You have a very calming voice too. I have taken some time off from painting and you have reassured me that I still have the ability and confidence, I just needed someone to watch and explain how to get the result’s needed to make a great portrait. Thanks again friend.

Merci beaucoup Eric !

I love portraits and was particularly interested to see your portrait paintings as I had seen several of your landscapes. The drawing is really wonderful and immediately captured a likeness, which is, I'm sure, delightful for you AND for us.But wow, when you started with the paint--so much information. Will watch this video several times and move on to the next. Great demo and looking forward to the next one. Thank you, Eric.

Eric, my second post. I know that I would have added blue or gray to the color in the shadow of the eye socket. You stuck with a darker value of your skin tone, keeping the color warm and added the blue to the shadows of the hair. It is so interesting how we all see things. The warm color is beautiful which shows there IS a lot of choice for the artist.

Eric, I cannot tell you enough how much I like this loose portrait style. I have been trying to attempt it since months. But I find it very difficult. Especially the drawing part. Can you give some tips? The unedited version is the best. We get to see each and every line that you draw. You are my Guru! Thank you so much.
