Bro, the day I can hire an editor for anything will be the day I feel like I made it in life. I appreciate the fact you have fun doing this. My goal is to make animations goofy young kids like I was get obsessed with my animation so much they swear their life to animation to create THEIR animations that other kids will get inspired far too early lol.
Lmaoooo I’ve always loved the way gege draws hands, more specifically in the art for the viz app. I’m glad someone else likes something so specific from the manga.
The Way you just opened my eyes with this video is illegal lol. I literally felt the exact same way about social media. While it can be helpful for short term looking at the bigger picture and setting goals is truly a key I will take to heart. Thank you for posting this
your tutorials have always helped me thx XD Edit: 11 minutes later this video is weirdly motivational lol oh and my goal for art is to just have fun and get better at drawing xd, I hope everyone who watched this vid doesn't give up on your goal.
Not a fanart artist anymore but I'm pretty sure they enjoy what they do... There's something about drawing your own version of your favorite character that hits different for them... Art just soothes their nerves and they don't wanna see it as a job cause from their POV making your own characters and their own stories can be really stressful(and no one wants stress in their chill time) and they post cause it gives them this feeling of satisfaction when they share their art and people give their opinions on how to get better or what they did really well... Obviously this doesn't apply in the current age of social media cause of the level of toxicity, but that's basically it I thought the same too until I first made my very own character... I was ecstatic... I haven't still considered making comics but I have a ton of made up characters in my inventory (Not like I myself post on social media...I just view)
I started out my journey of drawing for my manga in December last year and came across your channel around 2 months after and have loved your stuff man! My goal is to communicate my story with as much immersion as possible which I'm very confident I can do BUT as you stated even for yourself I compare my art style to those who have been in the game for longer and it really hits me hard sometimes but I'm slowly getting over it. Watching this video helped me really realise I'm not the only one who feels this way and that I'm not the only one obsessed with Akutami's at style! All in all thanks for the video keep up the content DD! Regards from all the way in England!
I wasn't expecting life advice, but it was really helpful! I really like how you talked about having a goal, a reason to do art. It helped me take a step back and actually remember why I chose to pursue art as a hobby in the first place. I was feeling a bit lost, but this video helped be get back on track. Thanks!
Thank you for this big advice, as aspiring comic artist & writer getting likes in social media while also working on my goal is very time consuming. (and the best to show your art for likes is doing commissions *which is mostly fanart anyway*, atleast ya get some benefit to it lol)
I never really thought about the goal topic, I don’t really see other art channels discuss it. I’m a new sub, and I adore your content. I love your art style, your humor, and talking about the matter of goals and being yourself as an artist. Guess I needed a reminder. Thank you ☺️
thank you once again for an insightful video, i had to asked myself what are my goals as well i'm still figuring out if i wanna do manga or something else, the answer will come up eventually.
this video is exactly what i needed. ive been feeling really lost with my art recently and all ive been doing is practicing. i started drawing because i love writing stories and i wanted to visualise them. thank you so much for this video and the things you said about numbers and goals are very wise and are things many people forget nowadays
Bro, I was LITTERALLY looking some inspiration or something but I ended up finding one of the best advice someone ever said to me. Thx for ur kinds words PD: thx for the tutorial too :)
The message about goal setting! This made me hate my own art for so long because I kept comparing myself to other artists instead of working on my own goal and seeing those artists as inspiration instead of "where I should be"
I've been struggling recently with where I want to take my art, but your words helped me a shit ton. I'm just going to stop worrying about social media / followers / making popular fanart for a while and focus entirely on what *I* want to do. Thanks for the advice, man.
I loved that videos and I’m amazed by how much the hand look like the way Akutami draw them ! Could you maybe do a video about Bungo Stray Dogs or Black Butler’s style ?
They are so shrunken but they have everything a hand has and there are some very interesting variations like Pickle's, long nails, Itagaki's hands made goat hands.
well...actually......this opened my eyes...well i dont make that many fanarts(only one that i posted today), but this opened my eyes in the way where i should put my learning focus on. Until now I've only been studying how to do cool art(like rendering, coloring and wat not) instead of learning how to do comics(like learning story telling and stuff)...Thanks for the video man
I loved this video bro! the essence of not trying to prove anything and yet I still learned and took a lot from this video is astronomically inspiring. 🙏🏾 keep doing yo thang bro! Ima need one on Hirakoshi’s hands next!
Gege Akutami's style of drawing hands is one of my absolute favorites EVER, along with Horikoshi. Both of them have heavily impacted how I draw hands, and definitely solidified my love for drawing them in general
Exactly, fan art is great and all, but it limits your creativity. The whole reason I picked up a pencil when I was a young boy was to express my creativity through art. Awesome video👌
Adding lines to the knuckles represents a simplified plane change. This compliments the vertical hatching to show that each phalanx isn't flat but has a dip to them.
Cool ass video man. I too picked up painting/drawing to communicate stories I had since I am not too hot with words for books/scripts. This video helped reaffirm my dream. Hope to see more personal-art vids
Thank you so much for that. Sometimes you get lost in all the social media stuff and wanting to build an audience that you start comparing and going towards something that will get those views. Good food for thought and eye opener. 🙏🙏🙏
i want to become a better artist than i was the day before, i wanna progressivly get better i know what i want it's clear as day for me. thank you for reminding me why i'm doing this.
I'm an inspiring manga artist and i got to say man the points that you're making in this video is great! I too was trying to get fame over fan art but i soon to find out that it is not really fit for me and my dream.
that may be true, but unfortuantly the mangaka cant really make it very visable. often its a chaotic mess which you cant get whats going on. hope he gets better with it....anyway, thank god the anime exists which makes it easier
Thanks for the video. As someone who is still finding his own style in both in anime/manga as well as in having the ability to draw in western style is a journey/goal that I'm working towards. Myself doubt comes from the that I want to have the same skills as the professional artist that I admire. The biggest roadblock I'm working on is digital painting . It's why I haven't posted anything of my art for the world to see.
i encourage you to face your fears, youll be shocked by how much growth comes from doing that. Youve got a beautiful goal and i believe you can do that!
7:50 We're alike in that regard. I wanna detatch myself from SM and just draw and put it out there whenever I want to; caring little to none about the likes and the retweets. I just wanna make a living off of my art and enjoy where my skills lead me. Of course I love the art I see on SM and the interactivity I can have with it, but I want my art, my original pieces which aren't purely just derivatives, to do the connecting for me
I am not a artist but this vídeo was great I Always feel that Gege draw a more "efficient" art, is focused in flow and emotions before and after that he will polish if needed
I love every time Mahito opens his domain so many hands!
I KNOW!!! AKUTAMI KNOWS HE DRAWS HAND WELL so he gave mahito that ability on purpose
Not to mention the powers of Megumi and Aoi Todo that you see the hands always in evidence.
Its such a big flex from the author on how hes able to draw them ahaha
Yoshikage?
Kira...
Bro im SOOOO glad im not the only one who felt like it was selling your soul if you drew fanarts for growth.
I KNOWWWW IT FEELS SO CHEAP TO ME
Same, even when my art career's growth is slower as a result, I'd rather draw what I want rather than drawing things I don't wanna draw
Exactly man
@@teru_9921 That's a good mentality, but don't forget that many people actually very much enjoy drawing fan art, AS WELL AS improving through it.
It's not a problem for me to draw ok ish hands I only fuck up when I need to draw them "Small"
Jjk art style is one of my favorites
same!
I like the sketchy look of it
i am in love with it
Came for the hands, stayed for life changing useful for everything at any point in your life advice
HAHAHA i glad
Could have worded that one better ngl
Gege and Horikoshi both captivate me with their amazing art style. Both are outstanding mangaka's
Bro, the day I can hire an editor for anything will be the day I feel like I made it in life. I appreciate the fact you have fun doing this. My goal is to make animations goofy young kids like I was get obsessed with my animation so much they swear their life to animation to create THEIR animations that other kids will get inspired far too early lol.
thata a beautiful goal bro! go for it and stay at it. i believe in you :)
and yea an editor would free up my time so much right now lol
8:43 to the part where he explains “how to”.
Yessss, I've been saying this for a while! Akutami's art, specially the hands, is peak!
FACTS! the hands are so addicting to look at!
And the way he draws action is unmatched
Indeed, Gege's way of drawing hands is quite unique; they're all attractive somehow lol
@c-brands"I don't typically get in fights but If I were to get into a fight. I'd never lose"🔥
i've been looking for jjk hand reference for a long time, you just saved my existence
YAYYYY!

Srsly this is one of the videos I needed to hear, preach my guy! Keep going!
HAPPY TO HEAR THAT! and will do!
@@ddmarkk ur welcome dude! :D
I love the fact that you mentioned all of this about these specific manga artists and us as artists too, keep spreading facts man
Akutami is one of my biggest inspirations when it comes to hands and fight choreography.
This is perfect timing. I was just starting a mahito domain expansion drawing
OMG PERFECT TIMING THEN!
DD Mark takes the cake as my favourite artist on TH-cam. I love this man and Drawing like a sir. It’s so inspiring.

This is one of the realest artist videos ever. The advice is golden
i still kinda like araki's hand artstyle. it just speaks louder.
thank you once again for an insightful video, i had to asked myself what are my goals as well i'm still figuring out if i wanna do manga or something else, the answer will come up eventually.
for sure bro! take your time and think about it!
Yooooo I love you and thirds podcast they are so good to listen too even when not drawing.
HAHA im so glad! i love doing that podcast with all my heart!

U gave a really fantastic example bc that’s exactly my situation.
Awesome! im glad :)
The first topic was a huge call-out. Really needed to hear it lol thank you
I ALWAYS struggled with hands even though I’ve been drawing for awhile. I also love how jjk draws hands. Nice and helpful vid! 😆
Clicked for the hands, stayed for the life lesson. Great video! Glad it appeared on my recommended!
This definitely gave me a change in perspective. Thank you ✌🏾
the purpose for drawing thing rlly got me thinking why i draw, why i study art stuff such as anatomy. rlly good thing to think abt
drawing hands makes me wanna cry for 14 hours straight

i’m about to steal akutami’s art style just so i can get those juicy hands. thats how good they look.
I loved that videos and I’m amazed by how much the hand look like the way Akutami draw them ! Could you maybe do a video about Bungo Stray Dogs or Black Butler’s style ?
I really love the way hands are drawn in the baki manga . It's Just too good
They are so shrunken but they have everything a hand has and there are some very interesting variations like Pickle's, long nails, Itagaki's hands made goat hands.
Mad respect to you for speaking your mind, and helping me realize what i need to get done
Thanks dd mark I really needed to hear this 😅😅

Third watching this👀, great video, been analysing a lot of akutami in the past, much appreciated
Exactly, fan art is great and all, but it limits your creativity. The whole reason I picked up a pencil when I was a young boy was to express my creativity through art. Awesome video👌
This art style got so good it literally made everybody turn into yoshikage kira.
Bnha and jjk styles in drawing hands so beautiful
It was so incredible hearing mark talking about how much he doesn't like posting fanart while he's drawing fanart of itadori😂😂😂 nice video bro👊
FINALLY SOMEONE THAT AGREE WITH ME BRO WTF LOVE U SO MUCH

I love pages full of just hands in different possitions! I would also love to see you draw Kaine in the dbz anime style, I NEED IT
My goal is to draw anything and everything in manga style
Thanks for reminding me this 😊

Gege is one of my favorite mangakas his art style is so mmmmh, cant explain. Its not that its super detailed, its, just, good.
Yoooo I am so glad I am not the only who loves JJK hands

Thanks to you I actually started my own JLmanga😄
the fights in the manga feel more dynamic than most anime adaptations, amazing manga for those who want pure action
