This is the best match I have seen in literally AGES! At least ten years or so. Damn! Amazing. These players, when on their game, are by far the two best players on the planet. No one is close.

I don't think I've ever seen those two play this well in the past. Their reaction times were really on point. They didn't miss a beat.

It is one of the best games I have ever seen. Very fast , powerful ! Both of them are atacking. To watch defensive game is boring. But it is great !!
Do you guys remember the 2008 olympics Ma Lin vs. Wang Liqin, when the same thing happened on Wang's bat? He lost the match then, saying that he lost his confidence after the bat change. Viewing this match here, I can say that Zhang didn't lose confidence, but he lost the match :(

Ma Long has THE most powerfull orehand and backhand in the world. But, he has a modest charactor and respectaful.
On the opposite, Zhang denies the reality and commented after match that" I was not used to playing against a player lower than me but fight fiercely using brute force".

I love how everyone says Ma Long is the best when he hasn't not even once won WTTC or Olympics. He hasn't even been in a final. On the other hand, Zhang Jike in a very short period of time he has made one Grand Slam (WTTC, World Cup, Olympics) and his on his way of making a second one (already won second WTTC - which is the hardest to do in my opinion). The facts speak for themselves. I really like Ma Long's technique, athleticism and game but it doesn't take only that to be a winner.

It's interesting how ZJK loses to ML on most games, but ZJK earned his Grand Slam (World Cup, WTTC, Olympic Gold) in shortest time frame. Previous Grand Slamers: Valdner, Liu Gouliang, Kong Linghui all took longer than ZJK.
In contrast, Ma Long has not earned any of the three major titles. Sad for Ma Long.

Despite being world champion i still do not feel that zhang jike has maximized his potential. Sometimes he clearly gets discouraged especially against ma long. If he wants to win the Olympics, he has to fix that, because chances are he'll be playing ma long there, maybe for the gold medal.

@chengqu1964 read the interview again, he definitely did not propose the hierarchy that he is better or ma long is weaker. stop spreading rumors
stop being fan boys and spreading hates. the top players can beat each other on diff days, it depends on mentality, skills tactics, luck.
grow the fk up, and start appreciating all the sportsmen who are worthy of respect

Too bad Zhang not only hit his bat but also his thumb hard on the edge of the table and lost the rest of the match pretty straight away. I watched the full game and feel his pain. Otherwise the score should be much closer. BTW Ma Long's new blade is a custom made DHS 7 ply wood blade with PG7 handle, structure similar to TG7 and code name 506.
