A good gun dog is always in need hunting in that kind of pond. If you shoot a limit, take home your limit. It’s always good to watch them come in. Take ‘em!!!! 🐶 🦆
Had a good time out in the field and touring the area with these guys! I wouldn't say the shots they took were unreasonable - on my camera I use a 24-105mm lens, when at 24mm the birds can look a lot further then what they actually are.
I’ve hunted in Hyde County but out of Ocracoke. Maybe one day I’ll make friends with someone with accesses to the impoundments on the mainland. The only thing I HATE about NC duck hunting is all the crazy laws regarding even being able to hunt the sounds and what should be public waters around it. (Dare and Currituck counties are probably the worst offenders Hyde is actually pretty good)
Most important is trying to seek people out who already duck hunt to teach you and to take you out hunting. Great place to start is to reach out to any local Ducks Unlimited chapters. Here's a link to a article with some basic information as well: campuswaterfowl.com/blogs/articles/getting-started-with-duck-hunting-a-guide-for-beginners
Hi Everette, I encourage you to reach out to the NC State Ducks Unlimited chapter to get involved! Here is their instagram: instagram.com/ncsuducksunlimited/
A few uneducated comments here, cameras are deceiving on distance! We all have those days where our leads just ain’t killing. But that’s late season Hyde alright, nocturnal ducks are tough to kill but I love that place with all my heart! It competes with some of the best in the country at times. Sadly our east coast duck hunting seems to be on a steady decline, a lot of pressure
Jesus sky blasters! What ever happened to working ducks into the decoys, this is what’s ruining duck hunting. Spoiled kids with daddy’s money and spots

Certainly long overdue! It’s a beautiful area, I wish we could’ve spent a couple more days out there.

How can I get in one of these ? I’m in central NC, don’t really have many buddies who hunt so I’d be alone.
