Never had pelicans in my decoys like that! I was afraid that one pelican was going to swallow that duck butt decoy! Fun to see you hunt with Matt ,Elliott. Two excellent waterfowl hunters creating great videos for us!
Never had pelicans in the decoys before, but we put out swan decoys off to the side for confidence decoys and have big trumpeters fly in and crash the swan decoys before (when I say crash I mean purposely fly into and attack). Them son of biscuits are mean lol That’s cool to see as well
3 more days till season opens up here in southern NM your always welcome to come try your luck here with me in the blind Elliot 🙏 high success relates in my blind
I've only shot one nice pintail drake my entire life so I decided to get it mounted. The day I picked it up from the taxidermist my neighbor knocked on the door as soon as I got home so I set the mount on the kitchen table. I went outside and talk to the guy for a while and when I came back inside my lab had torn the mount to shreds 😕
Where are the best places in the country for pintails? Im interested in headed west from Ny someday soon to run my dog and get him on some pintails, and get my first as well? Im a new duck hunter so learning as I go. Always wanted to go Wyoming and Montana etc.
I truley believe unless you absolutely cant handle a 12 gauge you shouldnt be able to use anything smaller then a 16 gauge. The amount of ducks i see wounded with a 20 gauge and 28 gauge is insane. Last year i was hunting with a buddie. He was shooting tungsten out of his 20 gauge he just bought he patterned it and it was shooting good up untill 25 30 yards. we had a ruddy duck land 8 yards away and he jumped it up. Shot 8 20 gauge shots later and my last and final 12 gauge shot thats when i finally made the decision if you are hunting without a 12 gauge im not hunting with you Unless you are a KID and cannot handle a 12 gauge thats understandable.
I have hunted with Matt enough to know that there is nothing unethical about his gun of choice when its in his hands. Like he said, it's all about shot selection.
Pintails stole the show that morning! Great video Elliott!
Thavks Matt, it certainly was an interesting day
The best fog hunts i been on is when that fog is thick but just up high enough to make the birds stay under the fog.
Here in South Louisiana, see ducks rafted up next to migrating white pelicans all season, they get along fine.
Good to know! I've never really paid much attention to if they do around here

We don’t hunt in fog , after 1st shoot ducks will leave and won’t comeback !
That’s not my experience at all. We have had great success after the dog burns off.
