I do rentals in Thailand. I 💯 agree with the end of this video. It's never the customer, always someone else's fault. Especially when they crash, magically the tires or the brakes caused it... And it's our fault (the people not riding the bike).

You can cross with 1000cc bike. You need an agent to facilitate the coffee. Thailand IS possible and has been done recently with VN bike.

Ye this is the thing, though. Everyone says possible, and you need an agent. Yet no one has provided a way of contacting one of these agents. If you have information, please post it.
If Thailand is possible, that is a very new update.

Please, I would like you to expand on how to enter Thailand with a Vietnamese motorcycle. From which border ? Does the motorcycle have to be registered in your name ? Do you need special documents ? Thank you and good day !

I got through Bo Y with a motorbike last year. No problems. Just have all your paperwork in order. The ride down to pakse is amazing.

i actually did get declined at the Cambodia/laos border 2 weeks ago coming from Cambodia going into laos. The laos border said it only would be possible to get the bike in from a vietnam border. So i did that without any questions.
They said you can do it through a agency but only if the bike is bigger then 250cc

Hi Aleksander, glad you made it into Laos through Vietnam. Which border did you use for that? Currently in Da Nang trying to figure out where to go

It is the Phu Kuea border - I made it through a week ago. No Issues, no bribes - and they didnt even ask about the motorbike. There is no visa on arrival there, so get that in order before going :) Hope this helps

Hello John, first of thanks for the great videos. We watch many of them. We are renting a xr150 from a friend in hanoi and crossed the border into lao at Na Meo. No.problem at all. Just asked if we would be returning to vietnam and asked for the blue card plus 50.000 vnd. At lao side no problem at all. Two weeks later we crossed back at the southern border at road 11 border crossing to QL40. No questions at all. Both sides totally ignored the bike. Didn't ask for anything. We saw at passport control that the local all had to pay some money but when I handed over the same amount of 100.000 vnd they gave it back. So for us it was no issue. I have to add though that as soon as we hand over our passport anywhere incl hotels we are treated differently as we must been seen as unusual riding a fully packed xr two up at age 74. 😅

Nice vid. Been thinking about this quite a bit. My plan is to get a Ducati Scrambler in Vietnam in the next couple years and tour around.

I've found if you own the motorbike and have all the correct papers, all originals you can get through the borders. Most people do not have all of their papers ready, you need like 4-5 different documents when border crossing.
ALWAYS complete every form, even if one of the officials doesn't tell you to, when coming back in you will have problems.
The countries with Border Transport Agreements are much easier to get into.

Thank You @Tigitmotorbikes for this video. This is exactly what I was searching for this week.
In Your opinion what are the best 3 months for this trip?
Ho Chi Minh -> Hanoi -> Ha Giang Loop -> Laos -> Cambodia -> Phu Quoc -> Ho Chi Minh
We originally planned to start in September and finish in December because that fits our time off perfectly but looking at the forecasts suggests that we would be stuck in rain quite a bit in September/October

Love your realistic last remark, it's so true! Did quite a lot border crossings between the 3 with my VN motorbike (bought 5 year ago from you John and still so happy) and it's different every time. Most international borders can be crossed but you need to know how to please them so they let you in or out of the country. Never try local borders, really doesn't work, even with coffee money

How can I know if a border is a local one or international ? Please, I ask you to expand on the subject. & What does it mean to please them ? Give them money ? that's it ? So how much money is acceptable to give so that they let you cross the border without a any problems ?

Any ideas on how to get a Thai 500cc bike into VN? It’s possible using an agent/organized tour but any other ways? Perhaps Thailand -> Laos -> Cambodia -> VN?

Make sure you have your visa stamp at Na Meo boarder with Lao. Very unprofessional there, nobody really cares when you arrive there.
We gave them our passport (with lao visa from embassy in Hanoi) and the bike paperwork. And then they let us enter the country with a entry paper for the bikes.
But when we wanted to leave lao again they told us we didn't get a stamp on our visas 🙈🙈 we had to go all the way back on bad roads to Na Meo to leave then...
    Cheers

Question: After we have successfully crossed the border to Laos or Cambodia from Vietnam (with the motorcycle), is it possible to cross with it from Cambodia to Laos or vice versa, from Laos to Cambodia ? Is there such a border between Laos and Cambodia that would allow a Vietnamese motorcycle to pass ? Or should we return to Vietnam and then pass the border again ? Thank you for the information !

There is no way to predict the borders in this part of the world. However from what I know the border between Cambodia and Laos appears to be working.
Currently from my understanding, the border between Laos and Vietnam is the most random at the moment.

The borders are completely random. We are staying at the border in na meo and they dont let us through with the bikes. They say, we need another document, something from a motorbike tour company. Everythinf is in vietnamese and the guy at the border is really not a help! Also the embassys.. They dont have any plans about rhe rules or the regulations Ridiculous and annoying! But thanks for the video bro!
