And as players are supposed to be Planeswalkers, they would be more than capable of wielding the Ring, and making life miserable for everyone around them. Flavorfully fits for me.
The 6 mana Sauron was also printed to be a commander, unless you think people would really jam it in Modern? Let's be real though, if you have one as your commander the other will be in the 99 because why not?

I made an Aragorn the Uniter deck recently. Basically filled it with cheap red cards and ways to potentially protect him. Man does it pack a punch. Sauron is my next build though. Then Bombadil.

What's the point of playing a flavourful general like Sauron in a generic and bland Grixis control shell like this? You could literally play every other Grixis legendary creature in the game as your general in this deck and you would not notice the difference 🤦♂️

Might I suggest that in place of into the roil you try Vesuvan Mist. You still get bounce a thing, draw a card for 4, but when you bounce your ring, the card that you draw is... Another Ring!
I genuinely hate how no one ever gets more than one attack in with the Goblin token from Fable of the Mirror Breaker. Everyone always auto targets the damn thing.

They missed out not giving it an Eminence effect. Him staying in the background and accruing value seems very on flavor for him.
