That ending line always chokes me up! “Let me watch you as close as a memory Let me hold you above all the misery Let me open my eyes and be glad that I got here.”
I cry every time. It starts with “Little girl, you were cursed by my ancestry. There is nothing but darkness and agony.” Hits me right in the heart every time.
This band live is unreal. They are loud and powerful but you hear everything so clearly and the dynamics are all there. You can tell they take the craft seriously.
I first saw this band at Reading Festival playing the COPE record all the way through. Blew me away. So loud and clean. Was an experience I will never forget.
One of my favorite bands ever. They are so underappreciated. If you want to see one of the best concerts ever, they did a live album concert of their "Black Mile To The Surface" album thats available on youtube and its perfection. IMO, thats their best album.
they also have the live recordings of Million masks from the stuffing in Atlanta. I remember seeing that show with my dad. listening to those live tracks bring back every fear I had in my senior year of high school.
I just went to their live show Monday night! It was so epic! I am so glad you finally got to experience them! It makes me so happy. My wife recorded this song at the show Monday, I uploaded it to my channel you can see it if you want.
Floyd, Ben Howard, Michael Stipe, damn that’s the best way I’ve ever heard anyone describe them! Saw em for the fifth time last month. They are amazing live!
This song can relate to so many, on so many different levels, it’s about your interpretation. “You can go anywhere but you are where you came from” and, “Little girl, you are cursed by my ancestry There is nothing but darkness and agony”. Spin that how you please or how it relates to you, throughout your life. Incredible song and incredible band. I’ve been a fan of Manchester Orchestra since 2004-5. Thanks for reacting, I always want to see someone else feel a song, really feel the song, like you did. I just subscribed to you, keep pulling me in.
The second half is taken from a live performance, spot on about the first half not quite matching the studio version but it’s close. Venturing down the MO rabbit hole would highly recommend The Alien, Colly Strings and I Can Feel A Hot One.
And another group that I would have never discovered except for reactions like yours. I am continually impressed by the depth of your musical experience.
Saw these guys live just before they broke big. They are very consistent live and that is really how they developed their music, out playing and not in a studio.
I’m very jealous that you get to hear this song for the first time. I’m a sucker for watching anybody’s first reaction to this incredible band. Not just this song, but this one’s easily the best gateway track. MO are in my opinion the greatest band of all time. There’s nothing of theirs I need to apologise to myself for. It’s all flawless. There are literally days worth of alternative song versions on their Patreon page too. I highly recommend.
I just had the opportunity to see MO live this summer, it was spectacular. I recommend reacting to I know how to speak, the alien, or the maze. Thank you for this, I love your content
Their name is inspired by their love of Manchester (UK) music, which as a resident of said city I love, however I don’t really get any connection between MO and any Manchester bands. I love them. Another band you you check out from Atlanta is Black Swan Lane. I actually feature in one of their videos ‘Slip’. Glad you like MO so far..😊
Listen to The Way, then listen to leaky brakes. This band is one of the best. Their lyrics are poetry, Andy Hulls voice is hypnotic and in some crazy way it always leaves you wanting to listen to more from them.
Greetings and Salutations, Peace Be Upon You All. I love that you are listening to these great bands. MO has been a favorite of mine for a wile now. The singer sometimes makes me think of Passenger.
I absolutely love this song, I will never get sick of it. A few more I'd recommend from this one: Anathema-Unbreakable parts 1 & 2, Katatonia-Departer, Klone-Yonder, Klone-Night & Day. There's alot more from those three I can recommend, I would suggest Hozier too, but you've probably already heard him.
Just this one reaction, and I'm now a subscriber. I hope you'll do more MO. All of their music is amazing. Some that I would suggest is Apprehension, The Moth, Keel Timing, Bed Head. Maybe I should stop there before I just go on and name every one of their songs. I feel they are very underrated. Looking forward to more of your reactions to their music.
first comment? i'm seeing zero, i just came from the Lorna Shore Into The Hellfire video, just found the channel, if you want more heavy, check out, damn near any Slaughter To Prevail songs. there's a lot of songs that're in russian, partly or wholly, Demolisher is mostly english and one of the heavier ones, Agony is in english, that's an older song. Viking came out recently and is heavier, but mostly in russian. so i guess i'd say start off with either Agony or Demolisher. you can pick either. i'd say Demolisher is probably heavier, Agony shows off a wider range. i think. both are impressive and solid songs.
That ending line always chokes me up!

I saw them in Columbus and was blown away
I feel like Band of Horses and Manchester Orchestra would go so hard together live.
I first saw this band at Reading Festival playing the COPE record all the way through. Blew me away. So loud and clean. Was an experience I will never forget.
The album version is all studio. They mixed this video with a sound check and live version. They are a great live band BTW.
Such an under rated band/song.
So many emotions in one beautiful piece! Give me chills every time
One of the best bands to come out in the last 20 years
I would absolutely love more Manchester orchestra reactions please.
best band in the world, dive deep my friend, dive deep
Please, Please, Please!!! You darling lovelys, will you react to Manchester Orchestra "pride"?
One of my favorite bands ever. They are so underappreciated. If you want to see one of the best concerts ever, they did a live album concert of their "Black Mile To The Surface" album thats available on youtube and its perfection. IMO, thats their best album.

@@silverhammer8464i love going to the stuffing fests they do after thanksgiving in Atlanta
More more more Manchester Orchestra…you’ve opened Pandora’s box, it’s too late now 😅
I just went to their live show Monday night! It was so epic! I am so glad you finally got to experience them! It makes me so happy. My wife recorded this song at the show Monday, I uploaded it to my channel you can see it if you want.
My wife said, you now have to do Manchester Orchestra- Virgin
One of my all time favorite bands.
Floyd, Ben Howard, Michael Stipe, damn that’s the best way I’ve ever heard anyone describe them! Saw em for the fifth time last month. They are amazing live!
One of the most underrated bands. One of the best !!!
They are one of my favorite bands. The whole album this is off, "A Black Mile to the Surface," is a masterpiece.

Fyi, this isn't the studio recording. You should also check that out, better mixing left to right etc
The second half is taken from a live performance, spot on about the first half not quite matching the studio version but it’s close.
Venturing down the MO rabbit hole would highly recommend The Alien, Colly Strings and I Can Feel A Hot One.
The song you were thinking of is “Behind Blue Eyes”
Seeing them for the 2nd time next Friday. I already know its going to be an emotionally great time
Hi! First time here! Manchester orchestra is one of my favorite bands ever. Definitely check out more of them! There's a lot there to unpack for sure.
And another group that I would have never discovered except for reactions like yours. I am continually impressed by the depth of your musical experience.
Take this sub. Your analysis picked up stuff I never could. Like my favorite parts you make better.
Saw these guys live just before they broke big. They are very consistent live and that is really how they developed their music, out playing and not in a studio.
Saw them about 2 weeks ago and they were magical

Can't believe I'm just now learning about this band
That was the studio version spliced into the live version. Both are amazing! Dive deep into this band. You won't regret it!
I just had the opportunity to see MO live this summer, it was spectacular. I recommend reacting to I know how to speak, the alien, or the maze. Thank you for this, I love your content
Literally anything off Black Mile to
The Surface is great!
Their name is inspired by their love of Manchester (UK) music, which as a resident of said city I love, however I don’t really get any connection between MO and any Manchester bands.

Love ur comments
You got me with this one.
Loved it👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
And the mention of Spock’s Beard.. just reminded me of that great album🤘
You're awesome. Loved enjoying this music with you
Listen to The Way, then listen to leaky brakes. This band is one of the best. Their lyrics are poetry, Andy Hulls voice is hypnotic and in some crazy way it always leaves you wanting to listen to more from them.
Please react to any of their songs, no all of their songs, anthems. masterpieces.
Greetings and Salutations, Peace Be Upon You All. I love that you are listening to these great bands. MO has been a favorite of mine for a wile now. The singer sometimes makes me think of Passenger.
A suggestion for you if youll take it. Sadly, it is not MO but instead. Avi Kaplan - Change on the Rise

I highly recommend Faidra, very beautiful atmospheric black metal band.
Thank you so much for introducing me to this group. I'd never heard of them and they're amazing.
Best song to discover them few months back was my own bewilderment sock to my head and guts
👍 Great reaction. 🖖 ❤
same album as from " the silence" the three songs all together as a whole : the alien, sunshine, grocery...love to hear your reaction!
Glad you found MO - check-out The Alien from the same record (A Black Mile to the Surface) - if you do not cry , you have no soul
They have both full versions, studio and live. I'm pretty sure they faded in a transition in the audio, much slower than the video transition.
Brother I love you for watching this.
u've been touched by the lyrics at the end, so do I
Maybe return to this exploration of perfection.
The band is known for always being on time
"musicians doing the musician thing proudly" ...oh ya 🙂
Just this one reaction, and I'm now a subscriber. I hope you'll do more MO. All of their music is amazing. Some that I would suggest is Apprehension, The Moth, Keel Timing, Bed Head. They are meant to hear live!

Bonjour
Et je ne sais pas si vous avez entendu "i know how to speak...."...❤🤩❤️
Indescriptible..
No. One. Does. It. Better! Im seriously addicted to MO. Warning, listen to this band at your own risk. :)

Epic
You got a great voice duude looks of billy not idol lol joel
Manchester is the last great band.
Why do people watch people react to things? I think this is one of the dumbest trends we've taken on as a species.
Thank you so much for introducing me to this group. I'd never heard of them and they're amazing.
