Conan O'Brian said in an interview that by the time the second verse started, every single crew member working backstage had stopped what they were doing and they had all come out to watch this performance like Moth's drawn to a light. Conan said that was the first and only time he had ever witnessed that happen during his 20+ year career as a Talk Show Host.
Thats so great! David is such an amazing singer and I am glad people love their cover!
I am not surprised, he is phenomenal 🔥
Where did he say this? I’ve been trying to find his response to this
Wow
Never seen an actual real source for this. Seems like a rumor that stuck.
After hearing this 1000 times I still get goosebumps 😊
Same here bro 😎
RIGHT
I noticed that this young hip couple didn't seem to react that way.
First time hearing it today , I love disturbed but I never heard this live version and I can say I’m addicted
Definitely!!
When God asked David "do you want to sound like an angel or devil ", he said yes.
🤣
This is my favorite version of this song. The rock growl gives it so much emotion.
Have you heard Malinda's version th-cam.com/video/iPHWR9-Y47Y/w-d-xo.htmlsi=dGqkTs1EKygrL_zj
Simon and garfunkel sang as a warning. David sings for the aftermath
When the verse " people hearing without listening" was playing they both were talking without listening 😂😂😂
😅
I saw disturbed live back in 2019 and when they did this song live it was one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard.
David had a fever when he sang this live! And his voice never faulted ❤
This is the best version of the song i have ever heard. David's grandfather was a Cantor and David had been training most of his life. The real thing that makes this version soo incredible is that he performed the song that night with a bleeding lesion on his vocal cord and refused to cancel because he had given his word therefore he was not about to break his commitment that night.
David didn't say anything about his lesion bleeding.
This is one of my top five covers of all times. Disturbed really made this their own.
Mine too. Also, Charles Bradley switching genres and singing Ozzy Osbornes 'Changes'. Its beautiful.
It’s my number one - hands down ❤🙏
So what are the other four? I must know!
He has an unbelievable vocal range and every time I hear this song it simply amazes me
I've watched dozens of vocal coach reations to this song and am surprised that none of them ever mention his flawless choices and placement of his vowels, like "in the naked light I sAw..." He's made very specific choices, and they are perfect!
People will tell you he had the flu. But I just watched an interview with David and it turns out he had a bleeding lesion on his vocal cord. This makes it even MORE impressive. He was trained as a Cantor and after 20+ years still works with a vocal coach. One more thing, I’d love to hear you do a break down of PENTATONIX. The number one a capella group in the world.
That would be home free 😂
@@jasonregister3494 how many Grammy’s do they have? Oh yeah, Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame? 😂😂😂 don’t get me wrong, I actually voted for home free when they competed. I’m just not into country. 🤭😂🤗💋
Don't have them waste their time with PTX. PTX should leave the music industry.
@@gordon020958 I sure hope you’re kidding. Because if you’re not, WOW.
@@tammyhill3798 NOT KIDDING!
This cover keeps giving and giving more from start to finish. Its like a ride that keeps getting better and better.
He’s pretty amazing! He talks about the technique of using that growl when singing, as he does it often when singing hard rock. He stresses the importance of knowing how to do it properly.
He is a classically trained Jewish Cantor and I cannot get enough of him. ❤
You may want to consider listening to more music from Disturbed. They've been around almost 30 years now and have an extensive catalogue of music that is very different from this song.
Watch the video so not only do you get the vocal but the truly best depiction of a song I've ever heard & saw. This song came out in the mid-60s when I was a kid. It hooked me then. And since then I've heard it literally thousands of times, some good covers some not so much. I'll confess I used to eat sleep & breathe S&G. No version could top them - until this. Even just listening to it now, it gave me goose bumps down to & under my toes. David Draiman brought all the disappointment, sadness & anger from his life to this song. End of story. Full stop. Period. Forever.
Simon and Garfunkel created the song, and finally, the song is complete, its performed with the rawness, the hurt and regrets of the soul. IMHO this song is now finished for the ages.
love this cover soooooo much! it's been on my playlist for soooo long! :D
Trained as a Cantor, like his father and grandfather.
David is awesome! His range ,, he can sing anything . He was trained in classical , and it shows .
This song is about the lack of communication in people today. It truly is a masterpiece. Let's give props to Simon and Garfunkel for the original. This song wouldn't have happened otherwise. Check out the studio version.
Gotta love when a Rock Musician is classically trained and his grandfather was a Cantor in a synagogue in Israel. His control is insane
I loved this version better than the original ❤❤❤
I weep every time I hear this song.
The fact he was extremely sick with the flu for this performance makes it even more amazing.
No its was covid
@@willjimenez9013 Um, 2016 bro
A good friend had the unbelievable luck to be at the show that night, and he said the same thing. He also said the band got a 10 minute standing ovation!
This song is about the awakened helping those that are waking up. ''The is deep.
An example like this is why, as a metal fan, you kinda want to throw a person out of the window when he says that metal singers only sings metal because they cant really sing, or the musicians only play metal because they cant play real” music. There are some amazing talents in metal.
Thats a masterpiece by David Draiman that neither one of you could touch,
ARE YOU KIDDING ME THAT YOU'VE NEVER SEEN THIS MASTERPIECE??????? woooowww 😁🫶💜
Touching on creating more than one sound with your voice, the singers I enjoy the most are those with multifaceted vocals. Particularly in rock and metal, where some are capable of both melodic singing and also fully distorted growls and screams. To me it keeps their performances dynamic and fresh, pivoting between multiple sounds.
The thing about this version he was so sick. He like a fear of a hundred and two, but they forced him to sit down.. Because he wasn't not going to perform. This is the version Simon heard email Tim right away. She told him he had the song it was blown away by this version. What people don't know I watched give them do an interview david He's classically train because he wanted to be at candar. If you've never heard to call to prayer in synagogue, you're missing out.. Does how he's to get to those places it's the most beautiful haunting sound. Everybody thinks disturbed the screaming, it's not.
He's the only person with the powerful screaming that I've heard that can actually control it. It's like it comes from his feet.
I love ur react ,greetings from Serbia ,u explain everything what I expect from one coach :D
MASTERPIECE!!! BEST COVER EVER!!!!
He is a trained “cantor” there is really no judgement here he is a remarkable artist hands down.! …
David draiman is a professionally trained singer. His voice sounds incredible because he exercises it. I hate, HATE, when people critique this song without listening to the orignal by Simon & Garfunkel. Not only is the emotion different but so is the emotion.
David Draiman is classically trained. a lot of people dont know that because he normally sings heavy metal. Once he slows it down you can really tell.
I love this most Epic cover!!!💜
Masterful
He was recovering from bronchitis and had a fever of 102 while singing this
* new to the channel. look forward for searching through. It is amazing to me how music strikes so hard. I can deal w physical pain fine, and emotional might take a few year to work through... mu music SLAYS me. I am very grateful for react vids ---- - - - So maybe I'm probably wrong... but my posture changes when something strikes me, sometimes learning forward but sometimes back, and that telltale throat swallow...when reactor is searching for air. ... that speaks more to me than wide eyes or open lips. Posture and throat tells a lot.
He has been Classically Trained to sing he took lessons he said
Loved you bro finally you react this songs ❤❤❤❤ no words to say
Big fan sir❤❤
If you want to hear the different ranges of voice then give Brian Justin Crum singing Creep by Radiohead on AGT. Absolutely brilliant
Paul Simon himself happened to be watching that night. He wrote David Draiman an email telling them how much he liked their version.
Cantor trained vocalists like David have a magical clarity, richness and power in their voices. Neil Diamond, another cantor trained vocalist, has/had a similar clarity and richness in his voice although I don't think he had the range and growl that David puts to such good use.
A must reaction to Shinedown - Simple Man
evryone who is reacted has had nothing but praise for his voice rightly so but what is more amazing is david was fighting a bad flu and had a fever during this performance
This is even more impressive when you realize that David Draiman was actually sick during this performance.
Great reaction as always, Justin. I was amazed when I first heard Disturbed's cover version of this song. He's a truly awe-inspiring singer. I have to admit, tho, that I'm a Pentaholic (PENTATONIX fan) for life so I obviously prefer their version of this song. However, he's right up there with them cos he's that good. Hopefully, Justin, you'll consider reacting to Pentatonix some time. They're the best Acapella group ever. As far as I'm concerned, they saved Accapella from extinction. Lots of love to you both. Bronwyn (Cape Town South Africa)
David is a badass! Period. Some people are natural
And he had the flu and fever!! So impressed.
As you can see he has been musician for quite long time, I have long list of similar bands that are under the same type of genre and music which despite their band name, they can be found under categories of punk-rock and/or christian rock.
Sampai tepuk tangan mereka 🎉
Homeboy was sick as hell when he sung this too!
You are adorable !
At the time of this recording he was running a 101 temperature and was sick as a dog. They wanted to move this to another date but he wouldn't have it .
He was sick for this too. Killed it non the less.
Talent runs in the family. His father sung in the Synagogues.
Also in this performance was sick
This is why Dave Draiman is one of the best frontman ever
3:37 "Wait, wtf?!" 🔥
He is a heavy metal singer who is a trained cantor. That might explain it for you
Definitely one of my favorite cover’s
But if you want a unbelievable surprise react to kasey chambers cover of m&ms lose yourself
And the crazy part??? Is that he had a horrible flu while performing this!
Hes an Opera trained singer. All you need to know
P.S. Greatest loving person on earth
a little bit of trivia disturbed puts a track from other bands on every album and they are all completely different to their normal style of singing my favourite is land of confusion cheers from down under
The best I've heard about this song is this:
S and G sang the song as warning
Disturbed sings it as rage
It's a great contrast
He has the voice of the Angel first, Angel 😇 👹
I've got 5 words for you, " Oh wah ah ah ah". You've got to get "Down with the sickness" Disturbed
Amazing this channel has 1,73 millions subs. wth?
And some think metel singers just scream and shout. Not quite. With hindsight, its obvious this song makes a great power ballad.
Admittably not every metal singer can pull off something like this (they are, after all, mostly just humans 😅). But a surprising number can.
You guys should do Devin Townsend kingdom emg video
Smart
U should react to halestorm - love bites (so do I) captured in the live room. Her voice is impressive
Do you know Voctave? An acapella group that is almost beyond understanding. My favorite is their Disney princess medley, and if you are interested, then i will suggest you start with that one. They are some if the best singers i have heard in my life.
He is a classically trained Jewish Cantor
his brother is an opera singer and they collaborate.
Like a ringing bell...
And to think David Draiman was ill during this awesome performance.
Have you heard of Sabaton? If not. Listen to their guitarist Tommy Johansson. Divine voice, plays any number of instruments. Take, for example, Abbas the winner takes it all, queen, etc He sings this song also.
Nice reaction folks. So if you want another mind freak, listen to the live 1983 version(rock palace) of Dio "Rainbow in The Dark". Contrast the Dio's speaking voice to his monster singing voice.
He is a classically trained singer...
Great Reaction. You need to react to "Dan Vasc - Metal Singer performs Amazin Grace" Its Jawdropping too ;)
Not this song but the band, welcome to heavy metal. SO many great singers like Geoff Tate, Bruce Dickinson, Rob Halford, Ronnie James Dio, Mike Patton, they can sing it all and a bit more.
Listen to some Home Free,an Acapella group with a beatboxer, American pie w/ Don Meclane Elvira w/The Oak ridge boy's, When a man loves a women, Listen to the Music. Impressive is all I can say
Please please please check out Journey Mother Father live in Houston the vocal acrobatics are incredible 😊
Interesting that you're talking about Italian operatic schools, When David Draiman is a trained Jewish Temple Cantor.
I just wanted to know if you have done any reactions to Ren?
If not could you please check him out.
Start with Ren - Hi Ren
Then check out one that he sings in, Chalk Outlines live with Chinchilla!
You will be blown away.
I did like Disturbed, especially this live version.
Not bad for a guy who had the flu at the time.. damn!
I would love to see you react to Sabaton I suggest starting with christmas truce, Nightwish and the solo performance of the current nightwish singer Floor Jansen who is married to Sabaton's current drummer
I think this song is a good example of the difference between 99% of people and a great vocalist. Anyone can talk technique, its like don king in boxing.
He has clinical training before he started singing heavy metal
Steelheart-never let you go
Yowzaaaa
have you ever thought about the lyrics, where the original singers were ahead of there time,
neon lights came in
people talking with out speaking texting
bill boards in subways adverising all thing
people writing songs, that never share, i will leave that for you to ponder, im 60 years old grew up with this song, and now i see what they are saying,
And David was sick during that performance.
