Hey Aunt Mel. You don't know how much of a blessing you and your family, including TH-cam family, are. Last week was a rough week here we had to say goodbye to our furbaby on Tuesday, then Wednesday I saw the neurologist about the tumor on my left temporal lobe and he wants to do more testing, and then Friday night I was admitted to the hospital. I was just released about an hour ago. I have to follow up with my regular doctor and GI doctor. I ask y'all to please continue to pray for us. Thank you in advance. God Bless.

To any young or just inexperienced cooks out there- I recommend that whenever you are making something like coleslaw, potato salad, macaroni salad, etc., do yourself a favor & make the dressing part in another bowl than the one all your main salad ingredients are in. Especially when the directions call for seasonings to be added "to taste". If you add the dressing ingredients to the mix before actually making them into a dressing, you could easily over-do the seasonings. Mix some up, taste it, then, if you like how it tastes, go ahead & mix it into the salad ingredients. If you don't have quite enough dressing to make the salad as "wet" as you like, you can just mix up a bit more & add it till you get the consistency how you like it. Cooking is alot of trial & error. But it's best to do things like salads in the way I suggested, so you don't end up making something you don't like, & then having to waste food. Once you get the hang of making a particular dish, you'll easily be able to make it without any fuss. Good luck to all the new cooks out there! 😊

You make cooking much more fun and interesting. While I have my tried and true recipes that stay in the rotation, I love trying new things. I have got to try the marinated hot dogs with chili sauce. Loved the use of the split screen with the ingredients! Thanks for taking the time to do that extra step. When you said, "the innards of my crock pot"..I had to smile. I thought "Yep...she is a southern girl"...lol. It reminded me of being in Ohio and the waitress recommended a special of something...and I had not heard of it. She brought a plate and showed it to us...and I said something about looked like "innards" of a hog...and she had no idea what "innards" were...lol. Once again, everything looked great. I can't wait to try those potatoes with bacon..YUM! I bet the marinated hot dogs would be great in baked beans. Even use the marinade in the beans. Bake them until hot and I think they would be awesome! I'm not from Texas, but here in Virginia chili with beans goes over cornbread. Chile with no beans goes on a hot dog. I made you crockpot potatoes as a meal and omitted the bacon and added a ring of diced kielbasa. Added green peppers, too and it made for a wonderful dinner on a very hot night! Thanks for the base recipe!!

My husband says the same thing with the potatoes and the skins and all. I have such a hard time with the skin. Guess we were always taught to cut off the skins from potatoes. Well…shucks.

Every dish looks satisfying 😊. My hubby doesn't eat chocolate, p'nut butter, nuts and lots of other good foods because of the high oxalate count in them, it causes kidney stones to develop in him. So for the crock pot lava smores cake I imagine I could substitute and maybe make a butterscotch lava cake. Do you think it would work?

Hey Mama Mel!!! Just wanted to tell you about my Mom. Back in the day she used a can cut the top off. Put some vents in the top and used it to chop her cabbage up. She's been gone since 2002. I still have her can. Sometimes I still use it❤❤❤

It's two ways to make chili some like it with beans and you can eat it by itself with shredded cheese on top...And you can make it without the beans it depends on how you like it..I like it both ways I tried the one with the beans on the hotdogs it was pretty good I use the small beans not the large beans and also put shredded cheese on top it was really delicious..Nice recipes.🌍👍🌍🙏🌍💯🌍👏🌍😘🌍🌟🌍🍀🌍🧅🧄🧀🧈🫑🍅🌍😋🌍
Texan adding my $0.02 in. My region doesn't typically do beans, we do the chili con carne (chili with meat) style. Now, if the pantry is low on supplies, chili con frijoles (chili with beans) can help the groceries last til the next paycheck comes in.

These are wonderful summer recipes. These recipes don't make us stand out in the heat cooking or in the kitchen frying or cooking in the hot oven. I've been looking for a good hot dog chili sauce. New Mexico has the same controversy as Texas. Do you want your chili with beans in it or without beans in it? Haha!

I have 2 of the 6qt oval crockpots and a 3qt round crockpot. Can I do the cake in the 3qt? Can hardly wait to fix the potatoes and the bacon apple chicken. They looked delicious..

I wonder if you added in some maraschino cherries cut in half if the crockpot cake( instead of the marshmallows and graham crackers), would have tasted like a chocolate covered cherry! Or a chocolate cherry cake. Then served it with a cherry ice cream, topped with some whipped cream and topped with some of the mini chocolate chips and a cherry on top. 😂 Just a very indulgent thought!

Hello👋 I have a quick question. Do you put a towel in between the lid and the crockpot when making the lava cakes? Or does the moisture really not make a difference in the lava cake? I want to make it but Ive read somewhere that a towel helps capture the extra moisture. I havent seen you do that
I don't and I don't think it would make much difference because they're moist anyway. Now if you were baking bread the paper towel is probably a really great idea! Seems like I did use a paper towel one time, but for the life of me I can't remember what I was making LOL

@@InTheKitchenWithMommaMel I'm hanging in there but my blood pressure has been staying super low,it will go in the 70's so Eark gives me a sodium hydrochloride and it's crazy b/c i have high blood pressure and on 2 high bp meds,i have an appt. i think Wed. or Fri. with a cardiologist and to get an echocardiagram,it's for a 2nd dr. opinion b/c another dr. said my heart is enlarged and that i have chf and i get my 2nd bladder botox,my kidneys and liver are bad,liver is where i've taken so much tylenol products and pain meds have acetaminophen in them,I hope you have a wonderful and blessed week sweet friend.🥰💙💞
I was so pleasantly surprised with that dish, it was the first time I ever did anything bacon wrapped in the crockpot and it turned out really great. I've baked and grilled bacon wrapped stuff but this was an experiment for me LOL

I usually cook up 3-4 pounds of ground beef and freeze the leftovers in portioned ziploc bags for later!!! So convenient to have on hand!

Hey Mama Mel!!! Just wanted to tell you about my Mom. Back in the day she used a can cut the top off. Put some vents in the top and used it to chop her cabbage up. She's been gone since 2002. I still have her can. Sometimes I still use it❤❤❤
How precious, my daddy tells about his momma using a little evaporated milk can with the top cut off to cut biscuits. ❤️ He made me one and I treasure it, too. Thank you for sharing this with us ❤️😋

It's two ways to make chili some like it with beans and you can eat it by itself with shredded cheese on top...And you can make it without the beans it depends on how you like it..I like it both ways I tried the one with the beans on the hotdogs it was pretty good I use the small beans not the large beans and also put shredded cheese on top it was really delicious..Nice recipes.🌍👍🌍🙏🌍💯🌍👏🌍😘🌍🌟🌍🍀🌍🧅🧄🧀🧈🫑🍅🌍😋🌍
Texan adding my $0.02 in. My region doesn't typically do beans, we do the chili con carne (chili with meat) style. Now, if the pantry is low on supplies, chili con frijoles (chili with beans) can help the groceries last til the next paycheck comes in.

A true Texan here and a true Texan will tell you a true pot of chili does not have a bean in it. We have chili often and should anyone want a bean in their chili then there will be a pot of beans cooked to up dip some out to mix in their bowl. Your recipes look delish! Thanks Mel.

These are wonderful summer recipes. These recipes don't make us stand out in the heat cooking or in the kitchen frying or cooking in the hot oven. I've been looking for a good hot dog chili sauce. New Mexico has the same controversy as Texas. Do you want your chili with beans in it or without beans in it? Haha!

I wonder if you added in some maraschino cherries cut in half if the crockpot cake( instead of the marshmallows and graham crackers), would have tasted like a chocolate covered cherry! Or a chocolate cherry cake. Then served it with a cherry ice cream, topped with some whipped cream and topped with some of the mini chocolate chips and a cherry on top. 😂 Just a very indulgent thought!

Hello👋 I have a quick question. Do you put a towel in between the lid and the crockpot when making the lava cakes? Or does the moisture really not make a difference in the lava cake? I want to make it but Ive read somewhere that a towel helps capture the extra moisture. I havent seen you do that
I don't and I don't think it would make much difference because they're moist anyway. Now if you were baking bread the paper towel is probably a really great idea! Seems like I did use a paper towel one time, but for the life of me I can't remember what I was making LOL

@@InTheKitchenWithMommaMel I'm hanging in there but my blood pressure has been staying super low,it will go in the 70's so Eark gives me a sodium hydrochloride and it's crazy b/c i have high blood pressure and on 2 high bp meds,i have an appt. i think Wed. or Fri. with a cardiologist and to get an echocardiagram,it's for a 2nd dr. opinion b/c another dr. said my heart is enlarged and that i have chf and i get my 2nd bladder botox,my kidneys and liver are bad,liver is where i've taken so much tylenol products and pain meds have acetaminophen in them,I hope you have a wonderful and blessed week sweet friend.🥰💙💞

I was so pleasantly surprised with that dish, it was the first time I ever did anything bacon wrapped in the crockpot and it turned out really great. I've baked and grilled bacon wrapped stuff but this was an experiment for me LOL
