I ride a DR650 because it feels just about as light to me, but I love the modern EFI and smooth modern feel of the CRF. The wife rides a CRF250L 2014 but man those 2018s look so much sharper with all that red.

Woodzman I enjoy all your mods and listening to your evaluations of the aftermarket doo dads. Funny thing about your comments about those pipes making the bike sound more powerful but the added noise being annoying. I learned the same thing when I stuck one on my brand new SL100 back in 1972. I was about 13. Tiring of all the brap brap I soon went back to the factory exhaust. It had Better build quality and the motor seemed to run better. I bought a new 250L four years ago. All I added was a USB port for electronics. Just getting ready to replace the tires. Honda builds great bikes.

I think there is no problem for the aluminum skid plates if you can locate the portion of the plate that were in contact to the chasis that produces harmonics, mine I place a thin rubber dumper where the sound is coming and the problem solve no noise I can hear. To locate the contact is to run the and rev the engine and when you remove the skid plate there is a scratch of the plate and that is where the harmonics came from.

Your channel seems to be the only one who encourages leaving the 250L mostly stock.
I went ahead and bought one, and just waiting on the paperwork to come back, and I'll have it shipped up.
I keep tearing myself between to performance mod or not to performance mod. I suppose the smartest thing will be to simply ride it unmodded for a while and see how it goes. (very likely I'll do the Seat Concepts mod, no matter what, and probably some sort of fender eliminator for the back, because they are always hideous)

I have a 2014 CRF250L and I am thinking about getting a newer one but can't really find anyone that has given a strong opinion as to upgrading. The newer one would have ABS and upgraded dash with tachometer. Your the only one I know that has had a 14 and now an 18. Would it have been worth the money to upgrade or would you have just saved the money??? Thanks for the advice.

The bike is ALOT lower and the seats super wide . You sit more upright and relaxed not in a motocross stance . The power is totally different the L is smooth with no hard kick the X hits hard and full twist it'll kick the ass out on you no problem . The suspension is night and day different the L is super soft sags down loads and holes get lost in the forks but for hard off road riding it's way too soft it bottoms out off small jumps and the forks compress throwing you over the bars if you hit a rock where the X suspension might let the bike deflect off the rock or kick up the front wheel . For me the L is a great bike so much better on road then the X and I can still ride it the same off road places I rode my X . The L is so much Heavyer doo . It's crazy how much harder it is to pi k up and pull out of holes . Look up my Insta for pics . Killeronthelus
