Very cool and well shot video. I know it's a matter of opinion but I prefer the Duchess in Brunswick Green as that's how I remember seeing her in the 1950s . . . at the end of the day though, colour is secondary to seeing her out and about . . . which I hope she will be again soon. Thanks for posting!
It seems like yesterday when my dad took my brother and me over to Boxmoor (near Hemel Hempstead) on the old LNWR main line . . . the highlight of a day by the trackside was always seeing the up Royal Scot come through at 5.00 pm, always headed by a Duchess. And our birthday treats were going to Camden Shed where we cabbed Duchesses, Princesses and Royal Scot itself . . . happily, my dad took photos all the time so I've got the pix to remember it all by.
The stripe denotes a locomotive that was banned from working south of Crewe on the west coast main line due to it's height because of overhead electrification work.
Thanks glad you enjoyed it :) the coach is her support coach :) its basically a coach where crews for Locos stay to operate the Locos and keep parts to fix the Loco, Steam Locos usually always carry them :)
Out of interest what’s the music during the Brunswick Green montage? I’m looking into creating an intro for a DVD I’m making soon and this would be good for it, cheers! Tom
Honestly, it's a real shame this had to happen to Duchess of Sutherland. Despite being a mostly LNER fan from the USA, I don't have a major preference to any one particular railway in the U.K. Most of the U.K. engines I like are from the LNER, the LMS, and the GWR.
Of course I have, Pete. Honestly, though, I prefer GNR/LNER locos by Sir Nigel Gresley, GWR locos by George Jackson Churchward and Charles Collett, and LMS locos by Sir Henry Fowler and Sir William Stanier.
Great to see some of the glorious countryside. How about panning just a "tad slower" {00.50} It would make the viewing experience much easier to watch. That said, love the video. It's lovely to see some film of the engines being shunted, and, some of the "yard" activity. Well done.
No need to worry lol she’ll be back in Steam in July :) it was meant to be March but annoyingly due to a lot of work needing to be done it’s been pushed back to July.

Yeah hopefully she’ll be there :) she’s due to return in July so she should hopefully be running by then :)
A sad sight, looking forward to seeing the duchess back in crimson lake though. A fab job N21744 - really love the montage👍
Thanks so am I :)
Amazing video. She looks beautiful now in Crimson Lake red. Filmed her at Bury last week.
Great vid, thankyou, hope all goes well with the repair, for me the change of colour will be wonderful.
Thanks glad you enjoyed it! :) Hopefully the repairs will go quickly and well, really looking to seeing her in Crimson Lake! :)
Nice coverage of the move. A shame she has failed but seens the "best" time for her to do so with winter maintenance etc.
Thanks glad you enjoyed it! :) yeah it’s definitely a shame she failed :( really looking forward to seeing her in Crimson Lake! :)

Hopefully, she'll be in PROPER LMS livery and not BR Lined Crimson Lake.

Thanks glad you enjoyed it! :) I totally agree the livery comes 2nd to when she’s out and about :) bet it was amazing seeing her in the 1950s! :)

Good Footage N21744 she will be surely missed by everyone now she can have a nice long rest and repairs
Thanks glad you enjoyed it! :) really looking forward to her return as she’ll be in Crimson Lake! :)
Thanks for the vid. Can't wait for the return.
No problem :) I can’t wait for her return either :)
Read recently she's not going to be available until much later in the year. They're doing a full boiler overhaul I think
Yeah she’s going to have a new boiler ticket when she comes out, she should be back in July :)
@@RailView_YT so much for July haha
Yeah so much for July lol, and so much for March (the original date she was due back) lol
Sad to to see such a magnificent loco in such a situation. Can anybody tell me what the diagonal yellow stripe on the cab side represents ?
The stripe denotes a locomotive that was banned from working south of Crewe on the west coast main line due to it's height because of overhead electrification work.
Is it confirmed she'll make the change to crimson or just a hope? Because I'd love her to be in LMS Crimson Lake in time for our gala in the Autumn
The West Shed have confirmed it will be in Crimson Lake :) but sadly she won’t be back until June/July :(
Doesnt matter. I got it wrong. she's booked for the Autumn Gala, not the Spring Gala. It's Tornado we have booked for the SVR spring season.
She should hopefully be running then :)
Apologies if this is a daft question, but why is there a coach attached to the loco. Is it to aid with braking power or something?
Cheers
Great vid

N21744 cheers - learn something new every day

The music is Foundation by Vibe Tracks :)
was duchess of sutherland tired of having her BR green livery?
keep it in it's BR green ,it's the livery that most of us remember them in
Very nice video, very interesting and good info, thanks :)
Thanks glad you enjoyed it :)
The Duchess is my favourite locomotive so it's a pity she's 'not well' but she'll look great in Crimson!
Also really nicely captured footage
Thanks glad you enjoyed it! :) yeah it’s a real shame that she’s broke :( really looking forward to seeing her in Crimson Lake too :)
Very nice especially the music at the end of the video

Yeah it really is a shame to see it :( but she’ll hopefully be back in all her glory in July :)

Of course I have, Pete. Honestly, though, I prefer GNR/LNER locos by Sir Nigel Gresley, GWR locos by George Jackson Churchward and Charles Collett, and LMS locos by Sir Henry Fowler and Sir William Stanier.
