- This video shows the repair of my OG XBOX console. The clock capacitor on this v1.1 motherboard has exploded and wreaked havoc on the PCB. Here we attempt to repair the damage and rescue the machine. Can I rescue it, or is it all too late for this one?

Just a caveat to AP's good work. The clock cap on a 1.6 xbox, shouldn't need to be changed (MS, in their timely fashion. Only took 4 revisions to sort it out). The board will not run without it though..
Glad to see you back with new stuff!
I have learned so many things from your previous channel over the years, I wish you will get a lot of new subs & views on this new one :)
Thank you mate :)
Top notch video tutorial! What a pro!
Much appreciated! 😊
Another one your on a roll.
I took this down off the old channel and moved it over here. I was in two minds whether to jump ship before I uploaded it over there, so now I have it's been brought over :)
Professional at work 😀
Thank you! 😀
Fantastic video mate keep it all up I'm not one for comments too much I've never commented on ya vids before think I did wash this before on ya other channel fantastic love ya perfect skills. I do dabble but u make it look so very easy haha. Hope this helps 👍🏻
Cheers mate, many thanks for your support! :-)
Glad to see you back on a new channel. Do you have any more PSX videos planned for the near future?
I do indeed! :)
I got two of these in storage. Maybe i should pull them out and have a look. 😬
Definitely worth a check!
Andrew, hope the new channel does great. Hope to see more videos soon. Probably not the best place to ask but hopefully comments help you.
I have a PS4 that I haven’t seen the exact same issue talked about. It’s a BLOD with 3 beeps. The difference is it does this when plugging in to power. It goes instant and constant BLOD with out the need to power it on and requires to unplug to power down. No click from Power supply and appears to be good by testing. It does this with only the 5v cable plugged in from the PSU( PSU not in console only 5v cable). Leaning toward southbridge but not fully sure and haven’t found any shorts during the minimal time I’ve spent. Any thoughts would be great?
Southbridge would be my suspicion, certainly for a first guess.
Very nice video, not sure if I still have my OG XBOX, but will have to look this week just in case. Out of interest, what sort of lifespan would the new cap have in there?
Thank you :) I'd imagine it'd be good for at least the next 5 years but going forwards it's certainly going to be something I regularly keep an eye on.
I have an OG xbox but have not turned it on in years. Should I attempt to turn it on and leave it alone until I can get someone to fix it??
I'd take the top off and remove the DVD drive - you should be able to see the clock cap quite easily then to assess what damage may (or hopefully may not) have been done.
What soldering iron do you use?
It's a JBC DDE-2B with a T245A handle.
