even at my advanced age with all the things i have seen and done. as with most things, it's pretty apparent when you have it in the wrong hole. some things never change Doug.

Don’t pick the wrong hole, make sure it slides in and out smoothly. 👍🏻

Great tip, about ready to throw my freshened up trans back in the car. Manual vb, new converter and likely an aftermarket shifter, this will definitely help keep me from flushing a lot of money down the drain

Learned this lesson recently 😂 I did the ol tensile strength test on my shift cable when pulling the original engine and trans out together. Didn't realized it actually stretched and snapped the plastic clip in the center console and I drove it the first couple tests drives like that. Was definitely in between gears... RIP 700r4 😅

I have that same shifter in my ranger and it binds going into and out of gears. Mainly reverse and park. When I get back 2 my dads garage definitely 1st thing I'm going 2 do. They keep telling me 2 just get a new shifter. Thanks so much!

it is BY FAR best to do this with the pan off...make sure the detent is falling in the correct position on the rooster comb.
Also...with the pan off...you can make sure your dipstick is marked properly for "full" because most aftermarket dipsticks are way off for the "full" mark

How bout a video on the steering column side. Got a 93 Eddie Bauer explorer in great shape I just LOVE! I only bought it a month ago. But as I was changing fluid n filter and needed to make adjustments because previous owner for some reason(what I’m told is he always pulled trailers a lot(has a huge radiator and extra trans cooler) and didn’t want 4th gear) AL4E(or those letters n # in different order) pain in the rear! Thank you for the great videos!

Work on and replace for less!

Is this safe to do with your vehicle on the ground? Popping the cable off and shifting gears like that while under the car? I guess I only ask cuz I dont currently have a parking brake at the moment.

I’ve ran B&M shifters forever and they were never really perfect as far as adjustment but they work. I put a precision performance products shifter in my car last year and the adjustment is perfect and that’s with a C4 transmission

    My v6 4runner 2007
Shifting thru all gears well but cant shift to 5th gear even manually i tried on highway from L to 4 gear but when i put in D it still in 4th gear.
And from stop to start when i put from park to drive it engage in gear.
Drive on shifter working but cant shift to 5th gear.
The problem occurs when ichange the neutral safety switch.
I think they misaligned the linkage.
Because no cel no code on car.

I sure wish my piece of crap Chevrolet Tahoe transmission was like that and that easy to adjust know mine only has a plastic clip with four arms on it that falls apart and breaks it if you try to take it on and off about three times and you have to guess wherever it's going to be sitting
