There has been many movies where it has been said that they are prohibited to eat meat because it may affect their sense of smelling.

@@Harsh_Reality28 The way they explained it it is because fat in meat makes the sweat and body odor more potent and diet of certain plants reduces it believed to such extent that even dogs have a hard time tracking it .
Or at least it is so that if a ninja after climbing walls and stuff and is all sweaty hides in a shadow close to his target or guard if their sweat is to smelly they will be "sniffed out".
