TY for the visit down Memory Lane! 😊 Did Athens and parts of Greece upon graduation of University during my travels - returned MANY times ,for as you say - a few days is NOT enough!
In fact , several trips are not enough!!! 😆 The people ,food ,sites and atmosphere are THAT enjoyable💖

Excellent summary of Athens, where I spent more than 10 years in the past. One thing to add: while there is a 50% reduced price for children (yes, all children, not just Greek ones!) in public transport, it is impossible for tourists to use it because the vending machines do not offer it, and you need to get the person registered, with passport, in order to get a permanent card and the "preload" it with some credit. This is only possible in very few stations, not at the machines, and the process is completely obscure to a tourist.

Great info, thanks! We just booked
5 nights/4 full days end of Oct/early Nov....I'm starting to feel I overdid it...? Hopefully the weather will be nice so we can go to Hydra, etc, otherwise I'm not sure how to fill the days😮. Well done on speaking English so well and very clear and understandable!

There is plenty more to do in Athens, especially if you like museums and typically in Oct/Nov the weather is still warm.

Great vid. I’ll be visiting in Dec 23 to 26. I understand 25-26 are holidays. Do you have idea if the transportation runs normally? I might assume these days will be closed? Wont’ they?
    Regards

Public transport in Athens typically operates on a modified schedule during the Christmas and New Year holidays:
Christmas Eve (December 24) and New Year’s Eve (December 31): Public transport services, including buses, trolleys, metro, and trams, usually end earlier than normal, around 10:00-11:00 PM. It's recommended to check the specific schedules for those evenings.
Christmas Day (December 25) and New Year’s Day (January 1): Services operate on a holiday schedule, which generally means reduced frequency. Metro and tram services still run, but buses and trolleys may have limited routes or intervals.
December 26: This is also a public holiday in Greece, so public transport operates on the holiday schedule.

I am meeting my friends from the States in Athens next month to go on a Greek Isle cruise. I recently learned about the toilet paper thing. Unbelievable for me that many former oppressed Soviet countries, such as Czechoslovakia, Ukraine, Poland and Hungary, are more advanced in their infrastructure than Greece. They caught up to western Europe within a decade or two of the USSR dissolving. Come on, Greece!😅

It is because of a pre-existing ancient sewage system from ages ago. It is much easier to start from a clean slate than fix hundreds of miles of subterrainian plumbing.

I lived in Athens for 7 months and I am glad you mentioned don't put toilet paper in the toilet. I wish they would take care of that problem why is it like that everyone else puts it in the toilet. I have hurd everything from poorly trained plummers to poorly make tiolets what's the deal on that one please have a good day.
