    Pardon my question, but what was the reason behind contemplating SSL Big 6? You already have Model 1, and Big 6 is - well just that, 6 channels, and you have way more hardware than that, even if you don't use it all in a single session. Was your idea to possibly bulk these two into one "hybrid mixer" ? ZEL is what, 20x Big 6 in price, so its not like it was either - or:) Anyway, happy to see you happy in your own studio, I know the feeling when all the hard work pays off and all machines are connected and functional, everything is in sync and connected and you can focus on creativity. This is probably the biggest killer of the creative process - you get the idea, then you start connecting stuff, something doesnt work, you troubleshoot technical stuff until it all works, just to completely get out of the creative zone. Happy Easter and all the best to you, and all watching/reading this.

    I was working on my studio this morning, nowhere near your level but it got me thinking about the reason I always work in 120 bpm in lieu of hard synching. It's so simple to do the math, I can be playing 10, 20, 30, 40, 60, 80, 90 bpms on different devices and they will all line up in a short number of repetitions. One of my favorite ways to structure a performance.
    One piece of what some will call crazy advice that I just figured out but as of yet never heard anyone else mention: Get an earthing mat or similar personal grounding system. Requires playing in socks, barefoot or with shoes that have no rubber parts in the sole.
    I would not do this with devices like the Pulsar 23 or Microfreak due to the conductive touch controls or if you have a poorly grounded instrument, obviously, but otherwise I've found that it's effects on my health have made it possible for me to start playing and working again after years of having no motivation to do anything and signficant health challenges. I was skeptical but the research was persuasive enough for me to try it and the results are undeniable... my stamina for creative work with electronics has blossomed in a matter of days. I do a more intense grounding barefoot in the soil, outdoors for a few minutes several times a day as well, especially before bed. This has profoundly improved my sleep and quality of calm energy throughout the day.
    Hope this helps or at least plants a seed. Cheers!

    • @RapidFlow_Shop
      @RapidFlow_Shop ปีที่แล้ว

      What s the function of the earthing mat?

    • @Skiddoo42
      @Skiddoo42 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RapidFlow_Shop As I understand it, there is a host of physiological issues that are caused by a body being disconnected from ground, due to the same kind of noise you see in an ungrounded electrical system only far worse because it's a biological system with many more subsystems working together. Blood motility is an overarching dynamic and this leads to systemic inflammation which is the root of all disease. There has been a number of films put out in recent years on the topic. I'd refer to Clint Ober who has done the most work on this.
      Most notable for me is the ability to think clearly and focus on work without any kind of emotional interference as well as a substantial improvement in physical comfort, strength and endurance.

    • @RapidFlow_Shop

    You have an amazing studio! Are you looking into using a midi interface to cutdown on the latency? I use the MMRC midi interface and it is awesome when it comes to midi routing. I totally agree about getting more stuff. I feel like it just distracts you from making music.

    • @OoraMusic
      @OoraMusic  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Congratulations. WIth all that beatifull gear you have a privilege to, for example, use pretty expensive Perkons generally just for kicks when you need it. So much hands-on timbres. The main thing is to understand that it is not necessary to use everything that is and treat the tools as paints in the palette. There are times when an artist does not use any of the colors for a long time and that's okay.

    Great run through the new setup! I got curious though, is the clock sync working flawlessly with the AR/Syntakt as master clocks and using Overbridge to clock Ableton?
    It's been a while since I tried syncing hardware and the DAW via USB and last time I got some pretty noticeable drift during longer sessions (like when recording a jam for 1-2 hours). I'm about to receive a Midronome from their Kickstarter (the E-RM Multiclock was way out of budget for my needs) to try syncing my DAW using audio but if using Elektron's master clock through USB works I might not even need it.

    One question:
