RIP Benkyoodo , hope Yasukochi stays around even longer
Great to hear..Kenji is continuing their legacy! A slice of coffee crunch whenever we were near J town. Hatsi was a love. Good to see Moses overseeing the bakery..enjoy retirement!
Love Yasukochi Sweet Stop inside Super Mira grocery store has been a favorite forever. Hope for 50 more years and beyond.
I adore this bakery. Lovely kind people and a simply superb product. They are an important fixture in Japantown and San Francisco.
Have been eating coffee crunch cake for 72 years. For decades from Blum's. Now--as recent as Mother's Day--our son bought one from Sweet Shop. It's one of a kind and really good. Grateful to Mr. Yosukochi took on the legacy many years ago and glad it was a viable business. Now, if only Kenji will keep it going!!
Do you remember the coffee candy wrapped in foil from Blums?
This is on my list to visit👍
What a great story and business. I take my hat off to Yasukochi-San and especially his grandson for opting to maintain their family legacy, a rare occurrence with today's youth.
The best! I grew up with birthday cakes from sweet stop!
I gotta come here when I visit sf again. The cake looks delicious!
thank goodness for the grandson. my bf showed me this cake many years ago, before he had issues and passed away. I need to come here and try it again.
Very touching story ❤
I remember seeing a profile on them a few years ago. It’s good to see them doing well.
It’s a shame it’s so far away. If I’m ever in the area I’d love to try it. ❤

Love their coffee crunch cake. So glad they aren’t going anywhere. Congrats on 50 years!

I would love to stop there...I'm too terrified to visit the Bay Area for the past 20 years...other safer places to visit.

First time hearing of this place, I'm very interested in checking it out.
