@@LostSquirrel818 I used to think the same thing, but actually they do! I went into home depot, and they actually had a little tool to prove it to me. It's inside the black plastic.
@@chooseknowledge2859I can't speak for your car but mine does not. My key is a regular plastic copy. No microchip. Just the cheapest one you can get at ace hardware.
@@chooseknowledge2859 after further research, I can say with certainty that the 1999 Toyota Corola does not have a chip. The corolla didn't get a key chip until 2005.
@@LostSquirrel818 I'm sorry, but that's sinply incorrect. The black plastic houses the microchip. The manufacturer of the key machine just happened to be in the store, and used a tool that detects the signal coming from my key. You can easily Google this (which you might want to do again, as your first search gave you bad info). Try the search terms: 99 corolla transponder key

it was a problem with the starter relay ground. I grounded the relay to the negative terminal on the battery and that did the trick

yes, it was a bad ground from the starter relay socket. i grounded it to the battery and worked.
