- When your car won't start there are many things that can cause this to happen.
I'll show you a couple of simple diagnostic tips that can be used by anyone no matter how much mechanical knowledge you have.
The battery, the starter, and the alternator are the common things that usually cause a car from not starting.

I have a 93 Toyota Camry. I had work done on it. Drove out of town. Came back out and tried to start it nothing. Had it towed back to the shop. They told me it was my starter and battery. I had it towed back home. Took apart the distributor and found out the rotor had frayed the wires inside. Went to a salvage yard and soldered the 7 dollar peice of wire to the old wire to lengthen it. The original was an inch to short. Started right up and been running fine ever since. That was close to two years ago.

The 4AFE engine is excellent. I have the 1.6 version and have 438k miles on it and it's still humping 😊
There are really great motors. I thought this was a 4AFE but it’s actually a 7AFE
I have the exact same car. My car has 333,000 miles so definitely it has more life to it.
I’m sure the motor can reach more than 500k miles

What if you cant turn to the ignition?
You know you can get the battery tested or get a battery checker before you drop money on a new battery? I got the automatic one 97
Ive heard about the battery tester but normally if its not holding up a charge then its time for a new one.

Started having problems with mine after work went to start it and it cranks and sounds like it wants to start then dies a second or 2 later I have lights and dash lights and all I hope it’s not my starter
Could be the distributor. My dad had an issue where it would hesitate but it was the distributor o ring that was bad and oil was getting into the cap and causing issues
My 1994 corolla just like yours - alternator, battery and starter and checked out fine but it still has starting issues. Seems to be cyclical. Starts okay for several days then just lights on the dashboard and no "fire." Takes several tries to get it started but eventually it starts. Any ideas?
We had the same issue and it turned out that the distributor was soaked in oil because the o ring that kept it sealed was bad. Check the distributor cap and see if it’s wet with oil. Once we fixed that issue we haven’t had any start issue at all.
