- MAKING THE BUSHMAN // Building a bushcraft knife
In this video I go through the process of making my Bushman model knife. The blade is made from 01 tool steel with a tapered tang and the handle is red Mallee root with red G10 liners.
ENJOY!!

Thanks heaps mate!
Perfect knife.
Nice work👍👍
Thanks!
I've had my Bushman nearly a year, and it still feels like a privilege to own such a beautiful and useful thing.
I am so happy to hear that Stephen! Cheers!
Excellent video and a beautiful knife, but you could do with some better lighting in your video
That's Art!
Wow. Beautiful work!
That was amazing to watch and see all the different stages and all the effort and care it takes to make each knife 👍👍👍👌
Thanks heaps mate!
cool
love seeing how my favorite knives get made.
.
Thanks heaps Eryc, glad you enjoyed it!
Mitch Thanks, for the insight into your craft! It gives us all a greater appreciation of your skill!
Really appreciate that Ashley!
I've been waiting to see your skills. Amazing Mitch! You should be very proud of what you've accomplished and awesome products you provide. If anything I feel bad now how I abuse my scrub you sold me DAILY and my Bushman when camping. True pieces of art. Thanks mate.
Thanks heaps Nathan! No Mate! Love to hear that they're being put to work!
Mesmerising mate. True works of art. It's great to get an insight into the hard work and skill that goes into making a knife. 👍
Thanks heaps mate! Much appreciated!!!
Beautiful Work! I'll beg your forgiveness ahead of time, but I must highly-recommend installing a simple stop to prevent the work from spinning on the Drill Press as the bit catches. Prone to make very serious cuts indeed. Cheers.
Thank you! That's a great tip.
@@korknifeandtool5920 I'm glad you can use the "advice". I have scars to prove it! Best of Luck with your Work!

G'day Mitch, if you're still making these can you get in touch? I'd like to enquire about a Bushman knife with a ferro rod and leather case. Cheers
Sure thing, if you flick me an email to admin@korknifeandtool.com.au and we can have a chat
Amazing craftsmanship Mitch. Truly 100% hand made! Typically how many man hours does it take to craft one of your knives? Can't wait to get hands on mine when it's completed.
Thanks heaps Steve! It ends up taking around the 10 hour mark including the sheath.
Well done!Tell me what kind of video camera do you use to shoot videos?
Thank you! I use the canon EOS R.
Thanks for the video showing the process. I admire these artisan skills. Can’t wait for mine to arrive and I will enjoy using it. One favour- stop showing us all these lovely knives, I’m getting “order envy” and am tempted to purchase more than one!
Haha thanks heaps! glad you like it!
When will knives be in stock?
I will be taking orders again within the next few months.
@@korknifeandtool5920 I will be on the lookout :)
sangat cantik
Wow, amazing! Thank you for sharing your work process. I would put your Bushman knife in a glass case and display it. It's a beautiful work of art!
Thank you so much!!
👍👍👍👍👍👍

Hello Mitch, wonderful skills and result. Thanks for sharing.
What type of handle wood from your order list is the one shown in this video.
Cheers Mate.
Dude this is so sick. Well done
Thanks heaps dude!
What steel did you use...and yes, like all the other comments, it is a beatiful knife
Awesome, I just got an amazing hand made knife for bushcraft.
You should put a couple little magnets on your template. That would help keep it in place while you mark your layout
What an incredible artisanal process and result. So proud to own two of your amazing blades mate.😊😎
Mate, I thoroughly enjoyed watching your amazing artwork in the making, you are true genius in your craft. I am so excited to get my knife and now knowing the labour of love you put into each one... me and my boys will cherish it forever.
I really appreciate that Andrew!
Hi Mitch, great video nice to see how the magic happens. Looking forward to seeing my knife. Have a safe and successful 2021 . Cheers Mark
Thanks heaps Mark!!
Hi Kor Knife and Tool, I've just found your channel and subbed to you. I do love the bushman shape, you make the whole process look very easy. Do you make these for sale? Good luck with your channel. Have a great day and stay safe. James
Hi James, Thank you very much! much appreciated. I do sell them through my website and at the moment due to my order list they are all made to order. Mitch
Going to have to get me one of those bad boys!
Nice work.
How easy it looks with the right gear. I was expecting to see forging when I came here, but a beautiful product regardless of the method.
I wish I was well enough to leave the house more than once a month, and that's to the doctors' office... I miss the bush and 'living'. I'd be chasing one of your knives up if I could.
Best of luck young mate.
PS. I came here via Scotty's Gone Walkabouts, a new channel I've found, that I can live vicariously through.
Thanks heaps! Much appreciated!
That looks better then any mora or anything
Hello, great knife. I was wondering why are you making the end of the handle thiner ? Is it for weight ? Line of the knife? Thanks you.
Thank you! I do it for both of those reasons, it reduces weight slightly but most of all look very nice and takes the knife to the next level and shows the extra care that goes into it.
Beautiful work man! Absolutely incredible results! I was wondering what did you use to stamp your makers mark? I looked like you did it with the blade cold, it resulted in a very crisp inscription. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you! Yes it is stamped cold with a 10 tone press. I find I get much cleaner and repeatable results from it.
Excellent work.. What thickness of scales do you start off with?
Thanks heaps! I start with around 17-20mm per side.
Stunning work, looks like a comfortable handle. Great to see the process involved in making a Bushman. Looking forward to ordering one soon.
Thanks Heaps! Look forward to making one for you in the future!
